  • Two cranes in the Netherlands have collapsed while moving part of a bridge, injuring at least 20 people and destroying 20 houses.

    As a crane operator myself, I seen this coming, a floating barge is not a stable platform, The project engineer is definitely negligent!

      All parties involved made big mistakes, there's actually a video with the report from the Dutch Safety board after the investigation, just search for 'Lifting accident Alphen aan de Rijn' if like to see it.

    Completely avoidable.. Nothing beats a well thought out lift plan …Nothing looked right from the beginning of this operation…. Lot’s of math should have been done long before this job even commenced..smh

    The level of incompetency shown here is stunning. No doubt this was planned and executed by highly trained and well paid civil servants.

      It was doomed to fail anyways. The Dutch Safety Board found a lot of things that weren't done properly and simulations confirmed that an accident was unavoidable.
