In a series for the BBC News website, Celebrities and news-makers are grilled by Matthew Stadlen in precisely five minutes. In this video, Matt talks to Johnny Vaughan.
Johnny is my favourite person on the radio and tv. He's like the happiest most positive enthusiastic spaniel ever. His radio show on Radio X is utterly brilliant. Always cheers me up and makes me laugh. He's a legend.
Johnny Vaughan, such a down to earth geezer, I can remember the days of big brother with his flannel shirts, worn jeans and loafers. He always used to surprise people by asking random questions about parts of their book they were promoting, because he done his research and read it. And as for Kelly Brook by his side...... Great era of TV... I used to get up just to watch it.... Now I don't watch TV at all, and don't want to get up!
I've always liked Johnny Vaughan. Definitely has a bit of an edge. Was interesting he spent time in prison for coke dealing...he's also got a sharp comedic mind. He can continue to exist.
I remember Paul Whitehouse being obnoxiously arsey towards him on the Big Breakfast and wondering why. I think people are wary of him because he doesn't fit into stereotypical presenter territory. Insecure people like Whitehouse would attack such a person to put them in their box, lest they have the piss taken out of them. Vaughn is exceptionally intelligent and has a lightning wit but reels it in for the sake of others. People who are not so bright cannot see that and so jump on the hate bandwagon.
Apart from Gloria Hunniford, he also did an interview on the New Year's Big Breakfast Special, with Liza Tarbuck asking him questions that viewers had sent in. And he did a magazine interview about the show Mud Men, when it first came out.
Very mysterious why he can't discuss his rapid counting ability. David Baddiel, whom he mentions, once told of that very same instance, but followed it by saying that he probably shouldn't have mentioned it, as Vaughan doesn't like people knowing about it.
I like how Jonny says he went to school “in the North”. I checked and it was Rutland which may be North of London but is hardly “the North”. It’s not even as far North as Liverpool or Manchester.

S J Powell agreed I like him on radio too
I really like him too. Though I think he would be intensely irritating if you had to spend a long time with him.
Johnny Vaughan - a national treasure. I love this guy.
Me too.
johnny vaughn is one of the few presenters who could make me laugh. he has the ability to come up with something funny out of nowhere.
The big breakfast with Johnny and Denise captured the optimism of the late 90s/millennium.

Americans had robin Williams, we have Jonny Vaughan, both legends

A lot of drug dealers are really good at counting. Weight, cost, supply and demand etc. Maybe that's it, I don't know really just a thought!
He's like a comedy Jason Statham
Johnny’s alright y’know
Always liked Vaughny. Still do.

Well it is north of Northampton.
Midlands...its North for a Cockney..which Johnny aint...but he is a witty guy ..and a Chelsea wanker...which isn't hard to be🙂
sometimes you have to look at where you at, and everything that has lead to where you are at, they are all contributing factors
Top man and very funny and I mean hilarious 👌
I love you Johnny Vaughn 🙋🏼
the castle is a really funny money
There's something of the Kelvin Mackenzie about him. And nobody wants that.
i never knew he went to a private boarding school.
One word for that Sean, naive!!
How could he not love Denise Van Outen??!!😁
She was a leach, never contributed anything funny to BB, Liza was far better.
😂
So that's why Johnny isn't on TV anymore
nah he was banged up before he was on TV
Does Jonny still deal in cocaine?, looks like his wife has gone,
What's wrong with Johnny's mouth?
it opens too much and as a result too much noise comes from it - none stop
paul Bailey It's wonky.
Dennis Van Outten punched it I think

BUT WAS HE EVER? A SOMEBODY....
Hair left, so did his career.
Nasty little remark from what a imagine a nasty little man.
