Enoyed this video so much. I am going to watch it a second time.. The strength and accuracy those men had slinging those bags. Can't wait to see the finished oil lamp. Great glass finds..
Yes, that looked like Jay Rockefeller. When I was in elementary school in the late 1960s he ran for the West Virginia House and came to my elementary school and we all felt like big shots getting his stickers and other merch. Wow, hadn't thought about that in many decades! Thanks as always for the memories! Kat D :)
Those drive along segments are such historic eye candy. The sidewalk vendors and markets are amazing snapshots frozen in time. I salivate profusely when you pass the Philly Cheesesteaks establishments. The oil lamp reminds me of my grandparents. You know? The ones whose back breaking labor, convictions, character, and determination built this country, so that everyone could eat at McDonald’s and have access to a cellphone. There wasn’t a single day that they didn’t stop and quietly give thanks. Peace.
Love South Philly, worked as a housekeeper for the Italians for over 20yrs in the 80 s &90 s, and i used to thrift there, always been a thifter really enjoyed going down memory lane. One of my clients worked at the famous Palumbos which many famous people dined there and saw many pics of them including Frank Sinatra eating Spagetti with Mr. Palumbo, who was his best man when Frank married Ava Gardner. True 🦅💚🦅
My grandfather traveled the world with Enrico Caruso in his orchestra and when he emigrated to America decided on Chicago but I wish he would have settled in Philly because it looks like so much more fun. Loved the street scene. Thank you
Beautiful finds Scott! I love that lamp! A real treasure!
Loved the views of South Philly. My mom was born and raised there n the 30's and 40's. It still has that charm that she talked about.
just love the toaster. looks like it is out of a surreal 1920's film.
I’m always learning something new from you, Scott. I really enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Aloha 🌺 The Decanter is so pretty! Thank you! Those Trash men were amazing!!! 🥰
Wonderful trip, wonderful finds, and wonderful information.
I love your front seat reveals. I love the beautiful antique pieces you find and the history lesson you provide us about these items. And often times you also provide a tour of an old city, etc. which I find interesting. No where, where I live in the Midwest would I find the things you find the quantity of in one thrift day. Nor the prices you pay. Our thrift stores are loaded with junk with high prices that are barely even vintage and could be damaged in some way. And this is the kind of stuff the resellers that do programs are buying and selling. And apparently there is a market for as they keep buying it.
I just really loved and enjoyed the street views. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for such an entertaining video ! Loved the history lessons and even the garbage men throwing the trash. I want that McCoy planter! You found quite a variety of goodies today! Thanks again! ❣️
🎉 Great video!! ❤️Love all your finds and the 9th Street Market!! Fun riding along and seeing all the historic buildings too!! Thankyou!!
Loved this trip! So many wonderful things for $100.Thanks for taking us along.
😅❤H Florida
What a cool looking town...many great finds too!
I would love to see videos on how you clean and polish stuff. All your items just sparkle.
Does silver overlay on glass tarnish? If it does, how do you polish it? I have two stems with some kind of black stuff overlay that might be tarnished silver but I’m hesitant to try to alter it. Thanks!
Loved the trip inti Phily and all your great finds.
First time I've ever seen trash bags being thrown like that. They were pretty accurate. The human spirit always amazes me. I love the city scenes... makes me feel like I've been to Philadelphia. Thank you.
I know!! Imagine how their shoulders will feel later on in life. *ouch* *ouch*
You're not exaggerating by much. I taught in an elementary school in Port Richmond that was built in 1928. My husband taught in Only and his school was a larger version of mine. The floor plan was very common throughout the city. Oh but how gorgeous the building was. Hardwood floors, marble wainscoting, just amazing details.
Loved the tour.
What lovely old neighborhoods. I especially like seeing the street markets. So many fascinating finds today. The old toaster was great. Can’t wait to see it refurbished.
As always loved the video , thanks for sharing .
You do live in an area that has so much great stuff!!!🎉
Thrift shopping is my favorite, and I love shopping along with you!
That oil lamp is a true treasure! Thanks so much for the stroll through the old Philly market, that was fun! Scott, have you done a kitchen reveal and I missed it! 🇨🇦❄️🇨🇦
Thank you for the trip--so interesting. I have never seen trash being thrown like that either--they are talented guys. That should be an Olympic Sport--much more useful than
shotput--I hardly ever see anyone doing that anymore. Thank you for leaving the script you put up long enough for us slow readers.
Thanks for taking us with you on these trips if it wasn't for that we would not be able to see the great USA. I for one appreciate what u do for us persons that cannot or ever will be able to travel. Minnie
The window! The window 😦 can’t you carve out a place for that. This trip is killing me. So rare to find these attic finds here. ❤️🐩
Favorite.. The Noritake 2 handled vase 🙏🏻 Edit again.. The lamp
And don’t forget to show us what you’re going to do with the cream and green art deco table! What a wonderful antiquing trip!!!
Wow. What a nostalgia old down town. That was so interesting to see and how the old bldgs were still standing! Bustling town. I kept saying are we there yet? 🤣. So much wonderful vintage decor!! Amazing!! It's always so fun to go along. Nothing like that here! Take care!
Scott, that bowl is so pretty.
Wow the pictures brought back old memories
My aunt and uncle live in South Philly and we would go spend the weekends there
That toaster is fantastic 👍👍
The photo was Jay Rockefeller who was at different times Governor of and a Senator from West Virginia. He is a member of the famous family.
Nice to revisit some of your old spots in Philly. I liked the glass barley twist candle stick and the oil lamp. Now I’m curious about the table top. And I want a cheese steak sandwich.
Nice shop along trip you found great items
If they tried to toss one of my compacted cat litter bags it would land on the hood of your truck, Scott. I love outdoor markets. I want to prance around hugging a paper bag with a baguette sticking out of it.😂🙄
My dad would always pick up good stained and slag glass windows at antique shops in the 60s and 70s. Hard to find good ones now.
😊😊😊it was great to see the streets you filmed. Some interesting items today. My fav was the green tray with the chip.
Thank you for playing your old records, I enjoy them. Great haul today.
Love the oil lamp❤❤❤
Fantastic video, great items, loved the 9th street views!
Thank you for the stroll down 9th St. market too. I really enjoyed the ride this Sunday Morning while drinking my tea.
Another great video love the toaster ❤
Great haul Scott! Of course my brain goes to the back seat, with the pieces of the kitchen table. Maybe be you can create a kitchen bench or maybe a couple of shelves, maybe a lazy susan😁. Will wait for your creative juices to come together🌟.
Have a great weekend, unfortunately we have to set our clocks ahead on Sat night, feel tired already 😮💨.
Take care
As you passed Genos, I thought did he tell us which cheesesteak joint he prefers? Really enjoyed this video Scott, grazie!
Thanks for taking us along and looking at all those old buildings! ❤❤
I know I thought it was *AMAZING* When I seen the tattered canopies, all I could think of is the *history!* How many generations - love it Scott. Thank you!!!
Great video, Scott! I really enjoy "shopping along" with you ( I grew up in South Jersey and worked in Center City Philly for a few years a long time ago. It is so fun to see familiar sights as you drive through NJ and Phila.). I especially enjoy seeing your "hauls" and learning what they are and who made them. I have learned a lot from your videos, Thanks so much for making them!
love love love the orange and black candlestick Hope you find the rest of the set.
Those guys tossing the trash bags into the truck are amazing! They must be beyond tired at the end of the day. Changing the subject now, but Scott, where in the world do you park in those narrow crowded streets?
You show the best clocks!
Lots of beautiful things today, great job. 👍
Very enjoyable video...great international district; lil' something for everyone. Thanks for the history of buildings. Wonder if those bride/groom cars were name holders for table? Tiffin candle stick #66 looks like that orange one..my favorite color. That oil lamp is all that and more!
oh that wall sconce!!! and the clock!!! toaster!!!! fantastic thrift haul!!!
Great Haul. That last item was amazing
Loved the car ride. Grew up in South Philly. Fond memories of shopping on 9th street on Saturdays for fruits, vegetables and meat. Don’t forget the bakery
I used to live outside of Philly and spent some time in South Philly with friends that lived there! Thanks for providing that walk down memory lane!!
You found some absolute treasures today. So many beautiful pieces. I love the toaster, my Grandparents had, and used one a lot like that only smaller and a bit more ornately cut out on the spring section. It had wooden feet and handles if I remember rightly.🖤🇨🇦
Wow, great finds on a South Philly shopping trip, Scott. That lamp is fantastic. You must have been wearing your full length racoon coat when you stepped on that scale! Thanks for taking us along with you.
I absolutely loved this video! Loved the footage of the 9th street market! It looked so vibrant. Please, please make more of these kind of videos, and I'll keep watching on as usual. Love your channel and I appreciate what you do. 😊
I always loved running around Philly with my cousins. Haven’t been for years, miss it!
Love your new lamp. I'm jealous again.
Great haul!
Yes, please do a video showing how you clean and rewrite that toaster!
I love that you make being stuck in traffic so interesting... !
I'm going to watch this again..😊
Its neat you found old pics of the Barber Supply. And LOVE the Italian street market ! Love to try an Italian beef sammich. 😛
Love the iridescent pearly bowl, I've never seen the like:) The EAPG is Cambridge 2351 from 1910, really lovely. Thank you for showing off Philadelphia, also something I've never seen the like:)
Scott, you do such a great job with your postings.
Thank you Scott fun shop along video! It really cheered me up on a dreary day in the Philadelphia suburbs. I wish I had the courage to hop on I 95 and travel to some of these cool shops. Thrift stores in Delaware County are filled with mostly modern junk . I love sitting in my BarcaLounger and watching you do the driving.😂🚐. Thanks also for sharing your knowledge about antiques and collectibles.😊
Gotta love Philly 💚 shout out to the garage men scoring 3 pointers all day. They deserve a raise, that was awesome
👋🙌👍
Thanks for the tour of South Philly...absolutely devine!! Love your videos and incredible finds. Living in San Francisco, I can only dream about the finds and prices you have there!! Thanks again!!
I enjoyed the video Scott 😊. Those garbage men were on point 👏🏻😁. Always nice to see the sights when you’re out an about 🛻. Have a good rest of your night.🕊️
I love when you showed a picture of your father several years ago, and it was animated. Sure wish you would show it again. He was so handsome!
Love shopping with you!
Love the city tours!
The pink, footed dish is Lancaster's petal pattern, Jubilee is a cutting often done on that blank in yellow.
Honestly the opening film looked like it could have been shot in the 1920’s or so. Amazing that the neighborhood hasn’t changed that much
Scott what a absolute stunning haul today!!! I was blown away by ALL of these treasures! You mentioned the console bowl and I was absolutely in love! One of my very first pieces of carnival when I started collecting! Us collectors would absolutely call it carnival! This is Floral and optic by Imperial Glass Company as mentioned by Carlisle and David Doty. You see the floral banding and optic wide panels and we would call this color smoke unless it has a slight yellowish color to it than we would call it clam broth! What a find! Also when you held up the composition oil lamp I liked to have fell out of my barkalounger! I came across a very similar lamp a few months back and was absolutely stumped other than knowing the pattern on the glass reservoir was the bridges banding pattented early on by John Bridges. Also inspecting the lamp further I found a patent date on the spill ring dated July 2 1872. This is why I love watching you! I learn something new in every video! I can't thank you enough 🙏
Those guys should be on a baseball team.
Here in Australia we aren’t allowed to put just bags of rubbish on the street; home owners have wheelie bins and businesses have large metal skip type bins with lids that are picked up and dumped with special trucks.
Love the large unusually shaped fruit bowl.
Ohhhh you’re killing me with the EAPG!
Oh, I'd love that orange twisted candlestick!
That toaster looks like a lethal Tesla coil. ❤
Ooh grandma had one of those Cory coffee pots!!!!
Ooo, that lamp!
Thank you, Scott, for taking us through those South Philly streets I know so well!!
That toaster is amazing 😍
Have same green caddy . No damage . Good to find outwhat it was for, always put pickles on it for the holidays.
😍 Love that oil lamp! 🥰
Oh such interesting neighborhoods. First restaurant row and then outdoor markets. Love seeing real life in Philly.
Thanks Scott.
Favorite...the oil lamp, gorgeous!! Thanks for taking us along Scott! Hi Salem!!
I bought the exact same uranium piece at an antique shop in Tennessee! I put a creamer/sugar set on it and it looks terrific. I'll bet someone will want to buy that from you.
Born and taised in Colorado. Never seen neighborhoods like that. So interesting. Looks old timey. But I’m a good way to
Scott, your green McCoy planter is perfect for an African violet!!!
There’s a tv show called parking wars all about the Philly parking authority.
Yes.....I was on it once!
I found that exact blue willow covered dish,,,,NO DAMAGE!!!! ABOUT THE SAME PRICE!!
I love your history lessons. 💛
Oh, man! I should have had you grab me a cheesesteak from Geno's and then right next door for a cannoli 😊
