What a beautiful line, something that should echo through the cultures of the world forever
They asked Jesus, so Jesus would say that they should only love others as much as they love themselves.

Personally I hope the UK rejoins, of course the conditions would likely be very different but the Union and the UK would both be better off together. I can understand the animosity Europeans have towards the UK for leaving but the vote was close tens of millions still voted to remain, especially younger generations where the future is.

I like the singing but i dislile two things here:
1: Any Version with any text at all is not the european anthem. The anthem doesn't have text in order to not favor any one nation.
2: I feel that this Translation missed the point a little.
The Original text is about celebrating joy itself and all these positive, peace giving properties are ascribed to joy itself. While there is a connection between joy and some sort of divinity (Götterfunken means spark of a god/the gods) in the original, this translation focuses too much on god and gives the properties originally given to joy to god instead

You know, there was once a man called Mr. Eric Atkinson, he fought as a British soldier against us Germans in the Second World War - he was also a German prisoner of war for a time and, as one of the few surviving prisoners of war at that time, was able to survive his captivity, thank God. After the Second World War, this Mr. Eric Atkinson often went on vacation to Germany with his family - his son Rowan Atkinson would later say, and it is somewhere his conviction: "We often vacationed in Germany, we only ever went to Germany (,...,) I think my father wanted to remember the country and the people that he once fought against in a good way and wanted to forgive them.
Mr. Eric Atkinson influenced me because he forgave us Germans, which was not a matter of course for a British at that time, and also for a former soldier. With this great man in mind, how could I as a German say "no" to the UK rejoining the European Union? They were simply wrong in 2016. And that's all right - Came back, okay. We want this Union with you!

I’m from the U.K. and I wasn’t able to vote in the 2016 referendum because I was too young, but like the vast majority of people in my age demographic (under 24) I’m very pro-EU and European integration. I’d like us to go even further and join schengen and eventually adopt the Euro as-well, I love Europe and I think in an ever America-China dominated world, Europe needs to step up and be the third player. We can only do that if we cooperate and commit to further integration. ❤️🇪🇺🇪🇺
I’m part of the u24 demographic and am very much anti EU so it’s not a given that our generation will return us to Europe. I’d accept a loose trade pact version of the eu but I fundamentally disagree with the concept of the euro and Schengen, I find the idea of further integration to the point of federalism very disturbing, millions of Brits gave their lives for our independence from expansionist Europe and now people like you want to give it away.

Sorry, but this is not the European Anthem. It is a Christian Hymn.
The European Anthem is the modified version of Friedrich Schiller's 1785 poem "An de Freude (Ode to Joy)" in German. Beethoven used this poem as the basis for the prelude of the final movement of his 9th Symphony in 1824. Beethoven's text was a modified version of Schiller's poem. It was this composition that was adopted as the European Anthem.
The only thing that is common is that the Christian hymn "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You" is also set to the same Beethoven's melody.
Technically that isn't the anthem either, at least not officially. The EU anthem has no lyrics in official documents, it is just the the final moment of the 9th symphony.
