In this video Daniel teaches you basic cleaning methods you should use before attempting to vinyl wrap your own vehicle. These methods are great for wrapping almost any piece such as hood, roof and all major body panels.
Thanks for taking the time to make this. Where is part 2 please?
Looking forward to more tutorial videos! Thanks!
way cool keep up the quality content.
Great video pal... Have a DIY project home but my car needs a paint job should I do a full paint job or just prep the car just before paint and then wrap it...
Ty
Hello mate new here could you do a video tutorial on how to remove door handles etc and how you price up a car maybe not a customers but one of your own don't actually wrap just the colour. If he wants shuts returns how much extra would really appreciate if you replied!!
Good info where do you get all you tools thanks
Hi Daniel, what about the ceramic coated cars like opti-coat and ceramic pro? Would there be a need to polish before vinyl wrapping?
Edmund Zheng Good question, Ceramic coatings will need to be removed before vinyl will be able to stick to the vehicles surface. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the ceramic removal process yet.
Can you guys do a video of what kinds of vinyl to use and what brands are best and cheapest
Best and cheap don't go together.
Yoalli Hernandez You can have best OR cheapest, not both.
Is there a part 2 tutorial of this vid?
Have you found any alternatives to isopropyl alcohol?
Daniel. where can I get that nanoskin bar? I can't seem to find it
Where can I get one of those clay bar substitute tools
what's the exact name of that claybar? I can't seem to find it
when it comes to fade and chiping paint or clear coat. what is the proper way to deal with it when sanding it and with which sanding paper to prep the panels
Best to use "the dish washer scrub pad" for every day dish cleaning use...0
the reusable clay bar is only ok if you are prepping for buffing and polishing, if u use it before vinyl wrap or ceramic coating you pick up contaminants and drag them across the paintwork causing micro scratches
What do you recommend in place of the clay bar?
@@vonkanon3091 a real clay bar not that rubber shit
Hey Premium what do you guys do to prep an older car? one with minor minor dents and scratches or rock chips on the hood etc? Going to try and wrap my car over the winter while its stored with all the help you guys share!
Lol they straight don't answer anyone's questions for sure lol 4 years and counting lol 👆👆👆
Body filler then sand the filler.
@@Ghost-Of-Kyiv- don’t forget to spray prime over the bondo
Mister penguinsdude76
You would need to straighten the bodywork, make sure there is no rust starting to form anywhere on the car and then get it painted, if the paint look like an orangepeel when you done painting, then wet sand and polish, and just use a good polishcompound with no wax in it, get itas close to mirror finish as possible, the get an even and smooth surface for the vinyl to stick to, now follow premium's toturial. And get a hold of Hex-vinyl, it has small grooves on the adhesive side, makes it harder to screw up :)
I've got a problem, I've done some wrapping of smaller items on my car but I'm going to tackle my hood... the problem I have is I can only seem to get the material in 5' widths... I bought a 5' X 6' piece for my e39 hood, but it's a few inches short either way I put it... should I try strecthing it? abd if so .. what way? width wise or lengt wise?
Vinyl can be stretched pretty good. Nothing over 15% (this translates to 7.5inch stretch on 5ft) get yourself a good ir heater. Torches and heatguns are limited to small areas at a time
Is there a visual indicator that the surface is free of contaminants?
Question. Doesn't dish soap (like dawn) eat your clear coat? How much are you using ratio wise?
To give you an idea, we fill a spray bottle up full of water then add 2 drops of dish soap. I've never heard or seen this method cause any issues.
Perfect. Much appreciated.
Daniel I need some help. How do I know how much vinyl I need? I looked up the dimensions of my car so I got a rough estimate of how much I need. Any tips for me.
Sure, premium says "get 2 rolls " like those charming toilet paper rolls premium uses ...
What do u charge on wrapping car or truck?
Should I sand down a car that has messed up paint in order to wrap?? Or will wrap still stay on just as long as I wash car first?
I have a question what if the car is been in a car crash and they use cheap paint will the wrap stick on that? If not will what do I do?
what brand is that claybar that youre using?
Mothers
What kind of clay bars do you use? That one looks way easier than the putty kind
My favorite right now come from Maguire's.
Thanks and keep up the good work, your work is dope👌🏻 hopefully sometime i can take my car with you guys
How much material would I need to wrap my roof hood and trunk on a 19 charger
Measure it with a tape measure.
can i use 5000 grit sandpaper instead of claybar ? or can i first polish the car with a machine then wash of the polish then it should be smooth ?
lol
Could you do a real time video of how to remove rear badges without scratching the paintwork.
Thanks in advance.
Something that can loosen the adhesive behind the badge, then use floss style removal, thick string on two sticks and essentially floss behind the badge down and it should remove, then a cleaner to remove the adhesive.
fishing line works 💯
what about if we get body filler ect????
Hey one question, can we use distilled water instead of normal tap water?🥰
Best to use the water from rainy day puddles
How would you prep old paint with rock chips?
You have too fix all that. Almost to the point you may as well re-paint, then get a clear bra.
About to wrap my car as a first time installer. Watched a ton of vids and am pretty confident considering. But I noticed after I had it hand washed at the place and I got it home to do a paint chip repair that as I cleaned the surface with my Isoprop that I got a white residue. Looked like e cold bacon grease. Im assuming its left over wax residue from the wash before this one. This wash was waxless. Is that wax? I managed to get this white film on any new area I sprayed with Iso on my microfiber cloth. It was like pushing around grease and did not come off easy.
If this is just wax then some dawn dishwashing liquid and water as you showed should set me up. Just want to make sure that is what im dealing with and that ill be able to remove it simply. Damp micro fiber towels with iso is not the way to go . hah
Degrease the car with 1 part white distilled vinegar and 2 parts water. Removes waxes and coatings leaving the paint shiny. Then wipe with a wet towel with water to neutralize the vinegar, then wipe buff with a micro fiber towel now you're ready . Fast easy
How would you prep a car that the clear coat is coming off in random spots
What brand of vinyl wrap do you prefer for beginners?
Best to use Walgreens pharmacy brand
As far as the best brands to start with we would recommend Avery Dennison or 3M! :)
Doesn’t the alcohol hurt the paint??
Why would I not believe dish soap has a degreaser in it?
😂😂
isn't dish soap bad for your paint?
Gavin Schalkwijk To give you an idea, we fill a spray bottle up full of water then add 2 drops of dish soap. I've never heard or seen this method cause any issues.
dishsoap? like every website I've seen they recommend NOT to use any kind of soap.... :/
Because dishsoap has grease remover in it and thus removes the protective layer of Wax from the car(sitting on the clear coat). Since you don't wan't anything greasy on your car as you prepare it for foil it is best removed.
Otherwise use special car soap products without grease removers to help protect the car paint. You don't want to put wax on the car every time you wash it. Expensive, time consuming and will wear out the clear coat over time.
@@markovucilovski9876dish soap doesn't remove car wax
@@hEXordo yes it does.
Just wait till AMMO watches thiss he's gunna cry ;-PPPPP

Use a clay bar.
Clay bar? Most people that want to wrap have clearcoat issues. Try sanding! 🙄
Thanks for keeping it under 10minutes.
Don’t use dish soap guys
Yeh not using dish soap on my car.
could not watch this vtd because of loud crap musik
