A "Riving knife" should be as thick as the Kerf of the blade in use. Here, the the material cut from a saw blade will always be thinner than the cutting width of the Circular Saw Blade it was cut from.

Hello Peter Thank you for always watching my video And thanks for the advice comment Recently, I try to put safety first, but there is still a shortage. We must aim for perfect safety. Thank you Sincerely.
Its a good and entretaining video but please make sure to use a riving knife or splitter thicker than the blade plate (im gonna guess this is thinner since you use another blade plate and sanded it to make it and never mentioned that the knife must be thicker than the blade plate youll be using as blade) and thinner that the kerf or it wont be as usefull and can be deceivingly dangerous since you'll think you are using a safety measure. Like wearing a non working seat belt. For that reason i cannot like this video or it will trick more people into thinking that this is a good idea. You could use for example a full kerf blade plate to make a thin kerf blade riving knife or a glue line blade for a full kerf one but never the same plate thickness of the saw youll be using.
Hello Cristófano Thank you for coming to my workshop Yes, I agree with you. I will quickly unpublish this video. By the way, I use a blade of the same thickness as this duplicated knife because I have a deep understanding of the meaning of your opinion. Thank you

"width of the blade cut and the width of the split knife must be the same"… Actually, my teacher told us that it has to be .5mm wider than the kerf (width of the teeth…), ideally .25 each side, to allow for some wobble. May be a little overkill, but that what's what I was taught…

@@TachiOhyo56 Thanks very much, it was the next thing I was going to do, just hoped I could be a bit lazy, realise now there's no such thing. Keep up the good work, you are amazing.

Great video.
If the template is you had on paper is from Dewalt Table saw; Pls. can i get the template or the exact dimensions (as i couldn't get any reference on the internet, to make riving knife for my Dewalt DW745.
Hello Akin
Thank you for coming to my workshop
And thank you for your polite and nice comments
There is no template for this project
I removed the black knife from the machine, copied it with a copier, and then created the template in the desired shape.
The finished knife is thinner than you can imagine, not suitable for the default blade!
Gratitude and peace from Japan
@@TachiOhyo56 thanks for prompt response.
i understand there's no template but can you send me the dimensions of the black knife you removed from the machine?
can you please measure the black knife you removed from machine and write the measurement on the photocopied or scanned black knife, so i can use that to make my own template?

Very well done. That's a great idea. If may though, please be careful when drilling metal. I've seen swarf take a mans finger off.
Hello Peter
Thank you for always watching my video
And thanks for the advice comment
Recently, I try to put safety first, but there is still a shortage.
We must aim for perfect safety.
Thank you
Sincerely.
Hello Cristófano
Thank you for coming to my workshop
Yes, I agree with you.
I will quickly unpublish this video.
By the way, I use a blade of the same thickness as this duplicated knife because I have a deep understanding of the meaning of your opinion.
Thank you
@@TachiOhyo56 dont take it down. You can simply put a written note on it and it will be very good

Kind advice, thank you for your comment
Isn't the centre of the blade thinner than the teeth? Therefore not so effective at preventing pinching at rear of blade? 🤔
Hello thesey
Well, that's your point.
I noticed it after uploading the video!
I need to improve this.

"width of the blade cut and the width of the split knife must be the same"… Actually, my teacher told us that it has to be .5mm wider than the kerf (width of the teeth…), ideally .25 each side, to allow for some wobble. May be a little overkill, but that what's what I was taught…

Shouldn't it be the same width as the cut? Your blade is thinner than the cut the teeth make.

Yes, yes, as you say, I made and used it and understood, it was totally different in thickness from the Native Blade!
