    I’m a little late to the party but thanks so much for your video. I have been looking for a thin kerf knife for my Delta and they don’t exist. I do like the wooden shim idea built into a zero clearance but still wanted something metal. I never would have thought to make one out of an existing thin kerf blade without your video. Thanks from Ontario Canada, will be grinding it out tomorrow.

      Hello Jay
      Thank you for agreeing to my video.
      And thank you for your sincere and wonderful greetings.
      The knife I made in this video is just the size of a circular saw with a diameter of 216m. The thickness of the 255m circular saw does not match.
      You make a great knife. Tachi

    A "Riving knife" should be as thick as the Kerf of the blade in use. Here, the the material cut from a saw blade will always be thinner than the cutting width of the Circular Saw Blade it was cut from.

    Riving Knife should not be in line with saw blade though
    +- 0.3 mm to the right slightly outside the saw blade. PS it is best to make a Riving Knife from spring material BV. aluminium. And the wood remains pressed against the guide and the rest of the wood remains clamped in place against the guide and cannot shoot away, no kickback saw wood (I've had it like this for years) win win situation !

    Its a good and entretaining video but please make sure to use a riving knife or splitter thicker than the blade plate (im gonna guess this is thinner since you use another blade plate and sanded it to make it and never mentioned that the knife must be thicker than the blade plate youll be using as blade) and thinner that the kerf or it wont be as usefull and can be deceivingly dangerous since you'll think you are using a safety measure. Like wearing a non working seat belt.
    For that reason i cannot like this video or it will trick more people into thinking that this is a good idea.
    You could use for example a full kerf blade plate to make a thin kerf blade riving knife or a glue line blade for a full kerf one but never the same plate thickness of the saw youll be using.

    "width of the blade cut and the width of the split knife must be the same"… Actually, my teacher told us that it has to be .5mm wider than the kerf (width of the teeth…), ideally .25 each side, to allow for some wobble. May be a little overkill, but that what's what I was taught…

      @cheo Fel
      I did a simple mistake
      This spell was displayed by typing,
      I'm not good at English, so I wrote it down!
      Sorry for the silly mistake.

      @@TachiOhyo56 I also made mistake in the word 'crap', I meant 'crop' as in cutting the knife (I thought maybe you cropped it shorter without the handle) ... 'cropping'... ¿Is this for a wooden handle in the part where the holes were drilled?
