Good question! I think this comes down to personal preference - I do agree the retail price of the Steam Deck is a little crazy… Brightness and Contrast: LCD: The current Steam Deck uses an LCD, which is fine for most users, but it lacks the deep blacks and high contrast that OLEDs provide. LCD screens are backlit, so the blacks appear more grayish in darker scenes. OLED: OLED displays are known for their true blacks and much higher contrast ratios. Each pixel in an OLED screen emits its own light, allowing for more vibrant colors and deeper blacks, which would make games look more immersive. Power Consumption: LCD: While power consumption is generally higher with backlit screens like LCDs, they can sometimes be more consistent in battery performance. OLED: OLEDs tend to consume less power when displaying darker content but may use more power with bright, vivid colors, depending on the game’s visual design. Response Time and Refresh Rate: LCD: The Steam Deck’s LCD panel has decent response times, but OLED panels often have faster pixel response times, leading to less motion blur in fast-paced games. OLED: OLED screens usually have better response times, making them ideal for gaming with smoother visuals and better overall gameplay experience, especially in fast-action titles. Durability: LCD: LCDs are known to be more durable over time in terms of screen burn-in. OLED: OLED screens are prone to burn-in with static images if used excessively, although modern OLEDs have mitigated this issue somewhat with improved technology. Color Accuracy: LCD: The Steam Deck's LCD offers fairly accurate colors, but it's not as vibrant as OLED. OLED: OLED screens are superior in color accuracy and vibrancy, making games look more lifelike and visually striking.
Personally, I’d go with the LCD. You can usually find a good deal on a second-hand one on Facebook Marketplace - it’s a great way to save some cash compared to Valve's Refurbished Program. I picked up my 256GB LCD Steam Deck for $320 CAD, so definitely worth looking around for similar deals!
I have the OLED and the screen is real nice. The only thing I did read which you need to be careful (with the OLED) is not to have the brightness up too high. Maybe halfway really. Apparently it's quite susceptible to burn-in and ive seen some YT videos on this. Just be mindful of the brightness really. Try searching about this on YT.
Nice purchase! OLED is definitely gonna be my next upgrade! 😎 I want to build up the LCD Deck with cool parts but think ill wait, invest into the OLED, parts once mine dies or I feel I need the upgrade, definitely excited about the upgrade one day myself! 😎
Hi there! I’m sorry to hear your having issues playing Destiny - I haven’t installed Windows, but many users have. 🙌 I would highly recommend joining the “Reddit”Community “Steam Deck” Sub Reddit Many users share there experiences, and challenges - I know many users have installed Windows as I have seen MANY posts about on the topic on there! Post in the Sub Reddit about Destiny, someone will have a work-around I’d imagine and if not there is the ability to find other resources like how to install Windows etc. ❤️
@@KalenBlakeGaming it's just the anti cheats Destiny uses. Bungie themselves came out and said you'll get banned using the deck or Linux, and with the anticheat it boots you before you can even play. I was just curious if you installed windows to play destiny or if it was through the cloud or something.
Sorry unsure of that reference exactly, if your referring to the Gamepass opening on Desktop Mode & Deck Mode, this route you force the Game Pass to the front end - It’s on the Steam End, doesn’t open Desktop Mode open! I have a video showing the setup and operating the Game Pass on my Channel aswell 😁
@@KalenBlakeGaming yeah i edited my comment lol i was thinking of halo in my head when thinking of the original xbox but yeah give it a try! its really fun
Would you ever make a video on the process of how you were able to get your emulators and roms on the steam deck? I just got mine and I'm trying to figure it out lol 😅😂 and how you added mods on to your fallout 4? Thanks!
Reddit is the place your looking for friend! Look up the “Emudeck” & “Steam Deck” Reddit and “Emudeck Install Walkthrough” 🔥 Content creators cannot really show the processes due to legalities but Reddit has text-based walk-throughs, that's what I used as a tutorial 🥳🙌
Fallout 4 & Skyrim are super easy - PC allows mods, these games have marketplaces built in. Purchase the game from Steam store, install - boot, on main menu there is a “mods menu” you can download free mods available! 😁
256GB & I also have a 500GB micro sd I’m using 😁 256GB is more than enough to emulate, stream games but if you intend on downloading Steam Games you might want a little more space hence why I use my SD aswell 🙌
Do you still recommend the lcd deck? im not willing to pay 600 bucks for the oled.

I don’t know if you have tried Baldur’s Gate 3 but it runs really well, especially on desktop mode, I get solid 30fps on 1440p.
I actually haven’t! I will have to give it a go! Thanks for the recommendation I absolutely appreciate it 😁🙌

Nope! Just DeckyLauncher - I have a video available about GamePass Install on my Channel 😁🙌
