    Thank you for the video. I am studying for a MTH 256 final and autonomous equations were a trouble spot for me. But after watching your video I feel confident about them. Thank you!

    True, separation of variables or using an integrating factor would work fine for this example. But the primary audience for this video is a course where students learn to explore differential equations even before they learn how to integrate. For them, separation of variables wouldn't make any sense.
