Not a Spurs Fan. When Kante & Mahrez were killing it at Leicester, there wasnt a chorus of media people singing they should leave. The players left out of their own achord. Spurs fans are right on this one. If Kane wants to stay then so be it. Theres an anti-Spurs narrative which even I as a rival fan can see. It does not happen to any other club except Spurs

    • @alanb443
      @alanb443 Год назад +1

There wasn't a chorus saying they should leave because everyone knew they were leaving, they were never staying. It's a completely different scenario, one is French and the other is Algerian, Leicester is not their boyhood team. Granted they won with Leicester but Leicester are a small club compared to City, Chelsea, or any of the other European giants who would have signed them away had City and Chelsea not done so.
Spurs have had one of the top strikers in all of Europe and failed to surround him with a team capable of winning anything. You can blame Levy for not spending or you can also blame management for buying poorly when they did spend. 40 mil for Sanchez, 63 mil for Ndombele, just to name a few busts. Look at who they sold, Trippier, Erickson, Walker. No one urged any of them to leave in order to win but they did leave, so why did they leave. Probably because they felt success lay elsewhere.
You can't compare Kane to any other player because I can't think of a single player of Kane's legendary quality who is entering their twilight years and not winning anything but a few runners up medals. The media is simply pointing out that for 10 years Levy and company have failed to build a trophy winning squad, so what makes anyone think they can in the next 3. Therefore, if Kane stays he is looking at a legacy of being the greatest premier league scorer and player in history with no trophies and just as few runners up medals to his name. It's not media bias, it's a fair question. So don't blame the media, blame the club that's been mismanaged for years just as their ex coach has suggested.

Carragher, Neville, Ferdinand, Merson, Joe Cole, Shearer, J Redknapp, you name it. And they don't just say it once, it's every other week these pundits reiterate it, sometimes even after matches that Spurs haven't even played in. It's a relentless barrage of pundits and ex-players saying "Kane needs to go." and guess what... It's ALWAYS pundits who played for: Arsenal, Liverpool, United, Chelsea. Neville has literally just said it again regarding Kane to Madrid. It's every single day. Why? 1) He's a top player, I know they'll be spoken about. 2) Because there's this irrational hatred of Spurs. A lot of the time pundits suggest Kane should go to their old team, but sometimes they even suggest he'd be better of at a rival of their old team. Only people like Harry Redknapp etc say "Maybe building a legacy at Spurs means more?"
Edit: Ally McCoist is todays pundit who's urged Kane to leave.

And that caller is absolutely right about Shearer and about how the narrative would change with every trophy had he won them with Spurs.
There are hundreds of forgotten players with medals by default. Hundreds just in England since the EPL.
Yet we all remember players like Les Ferdinand, David Ginola, Matt Le Tissier, Darren Anderton, players who probably all deserved to win a lot more than they did. Le Tiss won absolutely nothing, played for a small club probably on low wages, because it was his club. The guy was a genius and could've played for anyone (if he ran a little more)
Lastly, if my choice was stay at Spurs and hope, or go to Man United, moving to a rival, who themselves have only won one league cup in the last 6? Years, I'd stay at Spurs, keep my family at home and carry on hoping. City is a different story. You go there and you will win. Same with Madrid. There is an agenda against spurs/kane for sure. I kind of understand it - you've got one of the best players on the planet playing for a team with no intention of winning anything. The caller makes a very good point too - if he wins some trophies, 100% you will get 'yeah, well he's only got 2 - and he had to go to real madrid to get them'. However, if he goes to real madrid, then he does get put into contention for ballon dor too - which he would never even be considered for at spurs, even if they managed to win the CL.

In 10 years, when Kane is retired, having become thr new Premier League record holder, even if he manages an FA Cup or League title along the way, he'll be remembered for his personal accomplishments.

Alex Crook has just proven that there's a lack of due diligence regarding Spurs by the media. These are the things that lead to claims like agendas.
In the summer of 2021 (not last summer) Kane "went AWOL". Did he?
England went deep into the Euros tournament that ended in July, after pre season programmes had begun. Standard practice in these situations is that those players involved return later as they're granted the holiday time others without tournaments receive.
Of the starting XI for England that day, Stones, Walker, Phillips and Kane didn't start the first game of the season for their respective clubs.
Kane went AWOL? No, he was on holiday and quite literally stayed at two resorts owned by Joe Lewis, owner of ENIC, owner of Tottenham. Spurs knew exactly where he was at all times.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation maybe. Doesn't help when we get listed as the most profitable football club either, as happened recently... Most Spurs fans I know, who remember the 90s, are quite realistic about our place in the league, that we over-achieved under Poch, but that at the same time, we missed an opportunity to join the top table by not taking a gamble and backing him properly in the transfer market in 2019.

Being top scorer ever at Spurs is no more of an achievement than being top scorer ever at Aston Villa.
They are not a super club and don't have the prestige that their fans think they do , so the statistic only matters to Spurs fans, which Kane is.
With regards to the Kalvin Phillips comment, no maybe people won't remember that he won trophies with Man City, but Kalvin Phillips will remember and will have the medals to prove it.
If Kane does decide to leave Spurs, he needs to realise that Spurs base their game around him, he is the star and can do what he wants on the pitch and has done a great job doing it.
If he goes to Manchester United, Chelsea etc, he's not going to have the same freedom as they will be buying him to be an out and out goal scorer that stays in and around the box and doesn't drop deep to win freekicks in his own half.
He may be amazing wherever he goes but there is also a chance that we won't be as impressive and as important for other clubs.
Hopefully whatever he decides it works out for him so at the end of the day , he can be happy with his choices regardless of what everyone else wants for him.
