As a german me use Stahlwille tools since me was a kid back in the 1970 years working on my first bike and motorcycles.
Are just the best, never wear out, allways fit, never rust. Buy once in a lifetime, after you are done with this planet your kids will use em for another lifetime.
My "mechanical" son will inherit my Stahlwille tools from me. Just nice each time you grab em.
I was a Porsche mechanic many years ago in a former life and loved my Stahlwille tools. The Hazet tool cart was always a lust of mine.
I have been using my Stahlwille wrenches about 11 years now. Love them. I have the Stabil 20 deep offset. They are awesome.
Stahlwille's satin finish holds up a LOT better than any bright chrome finish tool. Bright chrome becomes slipperier than an eel once covered with petro fluids, satin finish tools slip lots less resulting in FAR better tool control when it can make all the difference. Stahlwille wrenches are lower weight improving wrench control and reducing fatigue when wrenching hour after hour. The "I" beam shape of the Stahlwille wrench adds further to wrench control. About a decade ago, it became apparent the most often used combo wrenches were the Stahlwille# 14, next to these were a set of Snap-On OEXL conbo wrenches.. seldom if ever used. They all got eBay'ed, never looked back or miss them at all. The Stahlwille Crona# 23 box wrench has a 10 degree offset and short drop. That 10 degree offset reduces side loading that tends to push the wrench off a fastener significantly less than a 15 degree offset wrench. That drop box improves access into location a direct 15 degree offset wrench could not reach. Strength of tools is just not an issue, feel and ability to get stuff done puts Stahlwille wrenches as an excellent choice.
Love my Stahlwille ring spanners (wrenches) which I bought in the late 1970's. Ever so slightly flexible which makes them springy and seems to cushion the flats on tight bolts.
I'm a big fan of Hazet allen sockets. The 1/4 drive ones fit tight and last long. I still have one that I used daily when I was a fabricator in the 90's. It still works today.
Quality collection of tools! I'm working on mine.
Best thing to wake up to in my sub box! Can't wait to see the Japanese tool haul video as well! 😊♥️
Thanks for reviewing the Hazet ratchet(s)! I also just got the 1/4 hazet HP and love it. I just found out that they have a 3/8th hp ratchet available now (a site in Germany sells it already) and they're also going to have a 1/4 bit ratchet in the HP line. I plan on getting them all lol!
863HPB (1/4 bit ratchet)
863HP (1/4 ratchet)
8816HP (3/8 ratchet)
916HP (1/2 ratchet)
916HPL (1/2 ratchet long)
916HPLG (1/2 ratchet adjustable length)
I bought two sets of wrenches back as an apprentice, OEX snap on, from 6-32mm, and later on, I bought a set of Hazet 600n’s, from 10-32mm. It’s personal preference as to what you think is better…I can’t decide. The snap on wrenches are thinner in the hand, and if you are really reefing on them, they can dig into your hand more than the thicker handled Hazet wrenches. The hazet wrenches are harder to keep clean, the snap on wrenches wipe right off. If I needed to persuade a wrench with a thumb detector, i won’t hesitate to tappy tap tap the hazet wrenches, but I don’t smack my snap on wrenches around.
I’m a snap on guy, but I switched my 1/4” drive drawer to all hazet. Still got my snap on, but I just prefer the fit and finish of the hazet.
Whenever someone needs to borrow a wrench, I hand them a hazet wrench, I know I’ve made a couple converts to hazet in the process. They are a little heavy, but the fit and finish is exceptional.
I never mind tool videos !
One of my favorite and most used tools is a Stahlwille Stabil 19 deep offset/straight 12 point box end wrench. Despite the name, it's actually for 17mm fasteners. The deep offset end is perfect for working on Subaru struts because it's very near 90 degrees. It's also the first tool I usually grab for breaking loose any 17mm fasteners - particularly for oil changes. I'm sure it's worth whatever Stahlwille charges for it, but I lucked out and got it used for $12 on an eBay auction. If you've ever held or used a Stahlwille tool, it just feels like forever quality. It's hard to explain. It actually feels lighter than comparable USA made wrenches. But when you use it, it feels stronger. Of course, my experience is picking up used USA-made tools in pawn shops and such. That's because I'm a shade tree mechanic and home do it your selfer. But maybe Mr. S can comment on this - German tools might not be the prettiest tools, but they are designed and made to last forever. Maybe they design German cars to fail so they can sell more tools??? 😁
Yup. Have the full 6-32mm Stabil set. Covered them on another video. Got them mainly for strut nuts as well. 👍🏻
😍 at the Stahlwille DBE's.
less plastic for the landfill is 👌
Nice looking tools! The telescopic handle would be great as a trail tool for Jeeping. One tool for a couple of uses.
Who doesn't like the tool vids? I like finding stuff to add to my wish list
Good video. I would like to hear more of these german cars parts designed to fail.
awesome as always!!
Thanks!
Got today the open box 14 Stahwille 11 pc set which is probably the same format as the corona, just in a combination wrench format (form B). Hazet 600N or 600LG is definitely sexier with half chrome half polished but got the Stahlwille because it came in a nice sturdy roll bag which I really needed. Very nice wrenches and a big difference to my noname chinesium ones.
Keep up the tool videos some of us love them!!
Glad to hear! I love making them! 😂
Nice can't wait to see the Japanese tool, haul
Came in yesterday! Waay early! 😍
The Bahco Adjustable wrench with alligator jaw (31RUS 8”) is about the only tool you need to disassemble a 3 story Diesel engine. Great German tool.
Bahco is a Swedish company not German.
Well Bahco is owned by snap on so you’re all wrong
@@Latentanimosityduh Thanks Eric, fully aware of that.
Yes, Bahco is owned by Snap-on, but they're still based in Sweden.
MrSubaru1387 My bad on the country. That wrench is still excellent no matter where is comes from. Disassembles a MAN B&W 12 cylinder 90cm diameter piston direct drive engine like nobody’s business.
The one exception to the matt finish on German tools seems to be Heyco. Not sure if the all are but their Maxline wrenches are polished chrome.
Nice video as usual. I like it when you do tool reviews, who better than an ex tool truck guy.
Being a VW/Audi dealer tech, I am very familiar with these brands. Both are quality brands - equal or superior to anything USA or foreign made.
You will need them alot then because vw and Audi are junk
@@brandonmurphy4657 it's funny because it is true
I think that Hazet used the load capacity of the anvil to rate the ratchet, you can see by it's color that it's the high quality german spring tool steel. I have many high precision tools from germany and they're all made from that material.
I'll sure grab one of those 1/2" soon, when collapsed it's a true real-estate saver in a toolbox.
Seems like I always order my Amazon Japan tools during Golden Week.
Most tools i have are from hazet and gedore, also got a couple of hazet tool boxes wich i preffer the most...
We LOVE tool videos! The tools apply to all of us, which is why we all love them. You actually need more tools, tbh. :) The Subaru content, we have to admit, is only pertinent to the people that own those exact cars.
Great point!
I don't like German cars or tools but I like their beer and food! Cool video. Thanks for sharing.
If you want to try more extendable ratchets I can really recommend the Facom SXL.171. I work on heavy equipment and this is basicly the only ratchet I ever use. Facom is a French brand but its up there with Gedore and Stahlwille.
Yup. I've got a little 1/4" teardrop Facom ratchet.
Might half to check that 1/4 inch ratchet out
I actually subbed for the tool review stuff, that's how I found the channel, I just happen to also be a Subaru enthusiast lol.
Nice! Big Japanese tool haul just arrived yesterday. So, more to come!
@@MrSubaru1387 loving it! Been watching your videos in the garage as we finish up my Forester to Forester full interior, engine, ecu, harness, entire suspension, and auto to manual swap lol. Basically combining two mediocre cars into one good one. Anyway, the Koken stuff seems super solid. Great to see some other lesser known quality manufacturers brought to light.
😜😜😜 love the content
Thanks!
Have you done any videos on Subaru factory hitches? Are they better than aftermarket brands such as U-Haul?
You can buy those Stahlwille sets packaged not only in simple cardboard, but also in ABS case, velcro tool roll, and foam inserts for tool drawer.
Good to know!
You mentioned channel ideas that hinge on having the right car around. Please let me know if you would like an '09 Outback Ltd. sometime for demonstration/illustration purposes (no repair needed).
I appreciate it. 👍🏻
Love the german tool reviews, kinda funny you don't like german engineering but like the subaru boxer engines 😉
sort of got me curious to see what the best tool is is it from is it from Germany is it snap on Mac? Is it from Japan ect? Also Im curious to know what the manufactures use for tooling like Subaru I’m assuming that BMW probably uses these tools or Mercedes ect. Is it Owatonna tool company ect?
@Tim, there are no one "best" tool, Different tool brands offer different designs with advantages or dis-advantages depending on the specific need from the tool. Over decades of wrenching on stuff ... including cars, preference for basic tools like wrenched evolved towards Stahlwille, Hazet, USAG (Italy), Facom (once French), Koken (Japan), TopTul (Taiwan) and other EU pattern tools. These simply work in real world wrenching conditions. Best value comes from Taiwan. Worst value for the $, tool truck brands like Snap-On-MAC-Cornwell-Matco.There are specials only made by Snap-On, there are specials only made by Hazet, There are specials only made by Kent or OTC and others.. There was a time in hand tool history when only US of A tools were any good at all, that was many decades ago. Since them the entire universe of hand tools has changed and no single tool brand has a monopoly on what is "best".
How much did the 1/2 inch ratchet set you back?
Ratchet was about $105. Wrenches were about $73.
Duder, you should buy a turban sew a Minnesota Twins Brim on it and do the next video

In the Navy, F.O.D. meant foreign object debris. And if you ever did a fod walk, it meant walking the deck looking for anything that could be sucked into an aircraft's engine!
seat belt replacement video please
Any particular model or year?
Can you say "Hat-zet"?
That would be pretty close to the right pronunciation ; -) , maybe because i've been around so many Swiss and German techno-mecho types :-)
The "hi-per", in Germany would sound something like"hee-pair"
But we could say "hi purr" ;-)
I bought Hazet's "stubby" 1/2" drive impact driver, lets me get into under-the-hood, and behind-the-wheel locations, and it's light, and super smooth, and really spins off lug nuts!
I’m sure those German wrenches have good steel in them but I much prefer American premium tools that sport highly finished and chromed tools.
I never understood the love for Chrome there. I personally absolutly hate that - I even buyed once cheaper wrenches because I can't stand this chromes polish.
Sure, only a personal opinion but I mean ... Every scratch annoys.
Those smooth-bright chrome hand tools become slippery as a wet eel once any petro fluids gets on them. This was one of the prime reasons most if not all those bright chrome hand tools like Snap-On and such have been long gone decades ago. After wrenching with bright chrome tools for a few decades, that bright chrome is not so bright any more and looks beat to crap. Satin finish tools like Stahlwille looks much the same after decades of daily wrenching and these don't get any where near as slippery when drenched with petro fluids.
BTW, if you're wrenching seriously, scratched tools mean much of zero. Tool are for getting stuff done, not be put on a pedestal to be admired.
Rupunzel I’ve been wrenching for a living for 30 years. Don’t know where you’re from but polished chrome is still the norm here in the USA and that’s what I like. Apparently that’s what the majority of mechanics here prefer. If it wasn’t the tool companies would switch. Use what you prefer and we’ll do the same.
@@prevost8686 Yep, bright polish smooth chrome IS the expected for hand tools in the US of A. About two decades ago, gave up on all the bright polish smooth chrome for reasons previously mentioned.
appears
Lol It’s just going to say that if their tools or anything like their cars lol
Nah. 😂 😂
If it is written "Hyper", it's the english pronunciation. :)
Edit: I mean, the german pronunciation would be "Hueper / Hüper" but I doubt that somebody actually would use that when "Performance" comes after that.
Stahlwille ist ein wenig besser als hazet
Ich habe beide gehört. Ich mag sie beide bisher.
