Journey Through Sound: Andreas Rau

Generative artist Andreas Rau has long been interested in exploring the interplay between humans and our physical and digital environments. This is why he was the perfect fit for the first instalment of KEF's 𝘿𝙪𝙚𝙩 series. As the first artist of the series, Rau’s performance focused on both the subtle and major differences between improvisation and composition, precise instructions and free interpretations, synthetic and natural sounds, and the relationship between humans and machines.
Held in partnership with KEF and Parameta, 𝘿𝙪𝙚𝙩 Preview was hosted at Soho House Hong Kong in November 2023. As an artist, Rau works with code and electronics to build bridges between the physical and the digital in a continuous dialogue with the machine. His works take several media forms, including interactive installations, audiovisual pieces, and physical artefacts created entirely from code. Rau’s works have afforded him an international platform, with many individuals and institutions around the world collecting his pieces.
