Love hearing that after 20+ years the tools are still running hot, thats why we buy once cry once. The Snap On guy did ask me at the end of my haul "You got a big box to put all these tools in?" 🤣. I told him if he wants to cut me a deal, we'll talk. For now the Husky works, though the casters and drawers leave much to be desired.

Ha, I might've gone with "Josh Allen", but I suppose Elvis works. Auto loading knife is already one of my favorite pieces of kit, just the storage factor alone makes working with utility knives so much more enjoyable. Will checkout the Gearwrench extensions!

Oh, and the next thing….Now that you are in deep with 1/4 drive sockets (and shallow and semi deep, pun intended) is the Snap On 1/4” Tech Angle digital micro torque wrench like the ATECH1FS300.

    • @HeyDerFolks

Doc, great point, we're on the same wavelength (i'd been looking at these recently), but heres my question and maybe you can help. The ATECH1FS300 is currently on sale, and then theres the ATECH1FS300FG which is ~$100 more. The S300FG comes in the foam (if that matters) and appears to be a slightly different handle design. I've seen some videos which suggest theres a gap beneath the screen on the S300 which collects debris, is that true in your experience? Which one would you buy? (Also, if you have both, sounds like a video in the making...)

Use math and tell us how much the cost is?

    • @HeyDerFolks

~$2,000 haul (about 50% of which was the sockets)

Did you puke when you saw the price of the sockets

A little, but then I had to pay $800 for a flight to a wedding. 7 hours round trip, more than $100 an hour in the air. The sockets will last a few lifetimes, average out to a few pennies per day. Not such a bad price in the grand scheme of things.

Bro you got suckered into the strap-on gimmick
Who’s doing precession work with a 6” shank screwdriver bro their measuring tapes are horrible too sockets are probably the only good buy in here do more research before buying their tools bro

The tape measure is actually one of my favorite items, love the magnetic back and auto locking. Regarding precision work with a long shank, it’s usually a function of wanting to get my hand away from the fastener so I can see what I’m doing. I appreciate your commentary, but am very happy with the purchases.

Snap-on 1/4 dr sockets are extremely overpriced. Snap-on ratchets are very good though.
Around 99% of the time mechanics use impact sockets. Even 1/4 inch dr impact sockets. I waited way too long to purchase the 3/8 dr semi deep impact metric socket set.
Snap-on screwdrivers are very good when you first get them. However, the Matco branded Witte are better and Matco warranties the whole screwdriver, they don't swap out just the blade like Snap-on.
Snap-on pliers are good but so is Channellock. Snap-on doesn't make anything like the multi function Klein needle nose that bends cuts splices and dices. Snap-on don't make any electrician needlenose pliers for professional or home electricians I mean.
You need chrome sockets, but you mostly will use impact sockets and cordless power tools like the 14.4 ratchets and impact. There are combination deals on the truck like the set that comes with 14.4 impact the ratchet two 14.4 batteries and charger and a light, get it, and shallow impact sockets for free! Ask what promotional sets he has left over.
Another overly priced Snap-on tool is their wrenches. Get all the Blue-Point ratcheting wrenches or the lesser expensive Williams ratcheting wrenches if you can find them online. These are the best reversible ratcheting wrenches on the market.
Do not purchase that Snap-on LED voltage test light, get the $70 regular incandecent Snap-on test light, or the Astro test lights on Amazon for cheap.
Never buy any of those Snap-on work lights especially the folding variety. The only two good lights Snap-on makes is the project light with 8 hr runtime and their clamp-on underhood light.
Get the Streamlight Switchblade Strion with piggyback charger on Amazon. Or the Astro work lights.

I’m the first guy to state that people have the right to spend their money anyway they want to. That being said, the average DIY’er has no need of tools at this price point. You’ll never get the benefit of this level of tool. You are paying 5-10 times the price of a comparable tool that will do every bit the same job and not hammer your wallet.

Absolutely, folks should buy whatever they want! I’ve seen a variation of this comment a lot and will probably make a video around it. For now, what I’d ask is for you to define “benefit”. Is the argument that you’ll never realize the technology advancements unless you’re a pro? How do you quantify things like; build quality, country of origin, warranty process, resale value, etc.

I ain’t talking smack but I will say anyone who spends snap-on money on a tape measure is a little crazy.
