    I live outside Knoxville, Tennessee near the foothills of the Smokies. Most people who pay 1200 a month on rent or mortgages out here live in 3000sqf + homes. The growth that Nashville is seeing is good for our economy but man is it causing housing prices to go up!

    I'm from Texas and just a perspective: Red states are way better for living and starting a business, always have been. Thing people from Cali, Colorado, Oregon, Washington etc seem to have an issue with is the culture/way of life etc. People from the South don't want the liberal ideologies or problems coming along with people moving away from these areas of high crime/insane living costs so you may get some sly comments from locals but if you're willing to adapt its totally worth the move. Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma, and the Carolinas are all great states, family friendly and affordable.

    I was born in Franklin off Hillsboro Road and went to high school at Harpeth Hall in Nashville. In 1989, I moved to Socal to become a famous and wealthy cosmetologist/lady barber, which after many years, I finally became an owner of 4 salons and made a lot of money, only to see too much of it go to the state and county. My sweet dear soulmate of a husband had never experienced "normal" life with 4 seasons, with genuinely friendly people, etc. He grew up in Weho, and after his parents passed, he had nothing keeping him in CA. So, we moved to Middle Tennessee, and I returned to Williamson County last December.
    I cannot honestly recommend moving to Nashville proper. Having remembered it from the 1980's, it has gone way downhill since then. If you want to move to this area, move to a county adjacent to Davidson County and find employment in the outer county so you don't have to commute into the city. If you are a Republican and believe in hard and honest work and are religious, you will fit in with a majority of the people in this area. If you leave the coast and come here thinking you can act like a far left socialist, you might as well stay at home, because you will be treated like you have leprosy. Most people where I live have multiple firearms and openly talk about using them on "commies." They didn't trust us when we first moved until I informed them that I was born in Franklin, and my husband's grandfather worked for Governor Reagan in the 1960s. Still, I don't tell anybody here that I am now 100% against all politicians and chose to express my dislike to all politicians by write-in voting for the Easter Bunny in the recent primary for senator. Truth be told, leaving Socal for Tennessee was no panacea for us. Our plan is to leave the US in another couple of years if we can find any place on the planet that simulates the quality of life enjoyed 40 or 50 years ago. We have traveled to many potential relocation sites, and Ecuador really attracted us most.
    As for tornadoes, they do hit Nashville, but most of them come through from the south of the city--Hickman County to Williamson County to Rutherford County.
    Of course, if you move here with your man, the heat, humidity, and conservative values means you must make him keep his hair cut short, so you need to send him to me to be properly buzzed with a close fade--LOL.

      @@bransky Williamson County is the home of Senator Marsha Blackburn, the most conservative member of the Senate. It is a lot like how Orange County used to be. I highly recommend it. There are a handful of satellite cities to Nashville in Willco--Franklin, Brentwood, Thompson Station, Fairview, and part of Spring Hill. We live in a section halfway between Leipers Fork and Boston.

    Great vid, I'm originally from Beaverton, OR, but now live in Nash. I think you nailed most both of the pros & cons of living here (especially the bad drivers). However, I've gotta say, I don't know if I'd call the weather "mild" year round here. Did you recently move here? I know you touched on it in the "cons" portion of your video and I don't know if you've personally experienced a summer here yet, but they're pretty brutal. Hot and humid from mid-June thru late-Sept. Last year, it was still in the 90's in early-Oct! Winter is def not as rainy as the PNW (thankfully), but it can get colder down here than back home. Some days last year were in the teens, but fortunately those are few and far between. I wish Fall & Spring last longer here, but can't have everything, right?

      Omg it's crazy how may people have said they moved from the Portland area to Nashville! No I haven't yet, thanks for the input! :) Have you experienced many tornados since you've lived here? I should have mentioned all the bad thunder and lightening storms too!

    • @liaocow
      @liaocow 4 года назад +2

      @@EsperanzaLorena It's true, I've met quite a few people from the PNW here. There have been lots of tornado warnings w/o the actual tornados, with the exception of the one that occurred here in March, were you here for that one? And yes, def tons of thunder & lightning in the summer. But to be honest, I much prefer the torrential downpours here than the crappy drizzle that we got in the PNW. At least here, it'll pour for an hour or two but then be gone for the rest of the day.
      Also, much less cloudy here, which I love. Portland & Seattle have most heavy cloud days out of any major city in the country, over 220+ each...no wonder we all had SAD

    • @EsperanzaLorena
      @EsperanzaLorena  4 года назад +1

      I touched on this in the video, but I moved here from Portland, OR where rent and homes are very expensive.
