- This is a fan-made mash-up between the Macross franchise, most commonly known as Robotech in the west, and Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins, made famous by the movie "Top Gun". I do not own either the footage or music shown in this video and the rights go to their respective holders.
(To be honest I have no idea if I'm giving credit well enough but I'm trying my best)
I also want to note that the reason this video was made was for a school project, which I had fun doing, and was not very well put together, but I hope to get better in the future.

I never remembered how smooth the animation was when I saw it on TV. This re-amped my interest in Macross/Robotech again.

This isn't the original TV animation. An OVA remake they did it all again but better.

More than most other series people have done “Danger Zone” videos of, Macross fits really well given the volume of clips to choose from… though I don’t remember one of Maverick’s fellow pilots marrying a giant alien girl. Maybe it was in a deleted scene?

Obviously the director's cut had giant alien waifus that couldn't be fit in the main scenes.
Such as badass series. I loved it when it was a new series, and always will. A the time, a friend from high school used to VCR episodes. On weekends, we'd gather up downstairs in the den and binge.
Okay....I remember rushing home from school to catch Robotech when it first came out. Well...'86 anyway and new to me. The new graphics are AWESOME! Are they planning on re-releasing it again with these awesome additions? I would get it again in a heartbeat!

There isn't any other transforming mecha show that gets their mech designs as great as Macross. Especially when the VF-1 is the mecha F-14. Each subsequent VF designs keeps getting better and better with their designs getting more designs from other countries fighter jets and some are an original from Shoji Kawamori himself.

Yep. The original had a bunch of little single-frame gags like that and when they made that video (I think it's one of the pachinko machines) they decided to roll with it.

I am an unrepentant fan of the first season. Kind of lost interest with following seasons leaning more into the whole Idol Culture thing more than the Transforming Fighters. But I gotta say, the VF-25 is absolutely AWESOME.

Does anyone know what all this footage is from specifically? I recognize a lot of the shots but some of them, specifically some of the rick/roy/skull leader shots look like they are from more modern things based on the animation style i.e the transformation sequence that starts at 1:05 and others.
Macross Zero is what you're looking for..it was a prequal to the events that took place in the original series..it shows the early development and use of the first varitech* fighters..
