  • Hello Spearfishing community, today I'm going to show you how to change your flopper.
For different reasons you may find yourself wanting to change your flopper for example some diver prefer the flopper on the bottom and then others on the top. Some divers change to a different size.
    Tools 0:45
O.k, so tools we will need here is a file or grinder, a small hammer and a sturdy vice. A lot of spears use the same size pin of 2mm in diametre.
Now we are not going to cheat and buy a pin as many would not have access to these. So what we are going to use is a bike spoke. Don't go stealing this from the nearest kids bike you see. Just go down to your bikeshop and buy a good quality stainless steel spoke. Make sure it is stainless.
    Removing flopper 1:12
So first we need to remove the old flopper which we will do by grinding off the head of the pin. Then push it out.
    Making the new pin 2:23
Now we have to bur over one end of the spoke with a small hammer if you have one, otherwise a big hammer will have to do. Stainless spokes are quite hard so don't try beating it into shape with one hard blow. Instead we will tap it around the edge slowley burring it over. This could actually take five minutes before you have enough of head.
    Installing pin 4:11
Once this is done we will put the whole spoke through so that we can measure how much of the spoke we want to cut off. Cutting off to leave 3mm out proud we then slowley burr over this end of the pin too.
And there you have, one repind spear.
Now if your watching this video I would also recommend you watch the Pimp your Spear video which shows the mods before you take out your gun to use.
