No one beats DDL...he is in a completly different league from any of today's actors...thank god for him!!!
Anyone else think he should have won for Bill the Butcher character; what a terrifying performance made even more amazing because he's such a gentle man?
Loosing to that dude from the pianist is pretty belivable since it was a superior film but yes, DDL as butcher was amazing.

I love the admiration that EVERYONE is showing this man. Each time there's a cutaway to the audience, you can see a glimmer of childlike wonder in each of their eyes. It's wonderful, the appreciation is just beautiful.

You know if it weren't for the credit in the movies,I wouldn't know that was Daniel Day Lewis, I didn't know DDL before, I just watch the movie without knowing anything, and I thought it was ok and never thought about it much cause I thought the character maybe the actor's actual self you know, but then I saw the Oscar award for There will be blood, I was like, THAT WAS HIM? THE LEAN THIN BRITISH GUY??? My mind blew up!
It's just crazy. He becomes almost entirely unrecognizable, with a mustache and a hat being his only tools.

Crazy to see don cheadle in this and how he’s been around for 2 decades but now coming into prominence just because mcu. Goes to show the mcu is low key destroying what it means to be a quality film. And the media maturing and coming to age with technology compared back to the day does not help with all the young kids not knowing greats. Or true great films other than mcu.
