Back then ('90's) oil was usually changed every 3k by most Owners anyway- who were brainwashed by the oil companies and "quick change" stations into believing en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3,000_mile_myth which is still adhered to by many people today (2017). Many modern cars- now come with "maintenance monitors" for different systems of the vehicle. It's a real money maker and money taker. One of the biggest gimmicks of the '50's-'70's were "Full Service" fuel stations (usually Patronized by women and elderly). if you check your engine oil *immediately* after engine shutdown- it will always show *_nearly_* a quart low- instantly selling the Customer a quart of marked-up oil. (yes- overfilled engines). Automobiles- and everything associated with them- is one of the largest money making schemes ever invented- and one of the most dubious.
