Just giving a shout out to Case! You're such a great right-hand man to your dad! And, you are such a wonderful big brother! You sometimes seem to have the patience of Job with Carter and Adler and it's easy to see that you have genuine love for them and your family. Thanks for being such a great role model for your brothers and people that watch all the family's vlogs! You are truly a blessing! 🙏🙂💙

limping in my experience means an abscess in the hoof. Soak the foot in a bucket of 1 cup Epson salt with 1 gal of warm water. May want to find a local farrier and have him check to see if it is a deep seated abscess or if something else is going on. Had an Arabian stallion years ago that I thought had a broken leg, took me a hour to get him moved from the pasture 60 yards to the barn. Thankfully the vet who I called reassured me it was a abscess, come to find after soaking that there was a chunk of green colored glass in his foot (was able to pull it out with a forceps - there was a old homestead dump in a ravine in a heavily wooded area of the pasture). Called vet let him know what I had found and did a round of combi-pen and had to continue soaking the foot twice a day for another week and pack the hoof with iodine soaked gauze and put a easy boot on, Wrapped with a diaper and duck tape once a day for 2 extra weeks after not soaking anymore. Healed up perfectly fine. I don't think you are to far from Purcell OK are you? There is a farrier school there that would be an option also (Oklahoma Horseshoeing School - Daughter went to school there in 2018 in the fall/winter).

Another remedy is to cut into the access with a hoof knife, pack it with iodine crystals, and add a can cap full of pure turpentine, ( do this in a well ventilated area, and don't breathe the resultant fumes, as they are toxic) this forces the iodine into the deepest part of the abcess, then pack it with gauze, and put on the easy boot, it's the technique taught at the Midwest Horse Shoeing school.

Could be Thrush due to moisture. Vet and ferrier can give instruction on healing and prevention. I kept a simple shallow water walking path with a little medication in it filled once a week or so they had to walk through all 4 feet to get to their feed for prevention. Just thought. Thrush can be stinky, painful and debilitating to their hoofs

    • @gingerbaker4579
      @gingerbaker4579 2 года назад

@Dakota Wings & Ernest Clements - you're both dumper than lumps of mud. You have no idea if it's an abscess, if its a puncture, if it's thrush - far more likely as it's damp around there - and yet you're giving advise as if you actually know what you're doing. Quite obviously neither of you actually know much of anything about livestock because the donkeys are also slightly limping on the hind - the hind quarters don't move quite right - and yet you can't see it.

    Chad,
Go to Walmart and get a tub of Noxema. Chase can use it on his sunburn. It will help his skin heal without a lot of peeling. It has mint and eucalyptus in it. It is amazing stuff and makes a sunburn feel cool from the mint

Love watching all your pages. I have rescued a few critters that have had founder. Over eating can also cause founder. My worst issue has been spring grass with intense first sugars. For mild cases, soaking hooves in warm water and Epson salts twice daily. Bute-less added to a small amount of pelleted feed twice daily. Keep in a dry smaller area to limit movement and allow healing. Usually only needed for a week.

This is a nice shelter, you can arrange it and use however to suit your needs. So happy you have gotten this land. That is good you will now have water. Leaving this area, will make a nice entrance. That would be nice and it is a beautiful look. We have them all over Kentucky. Talking about Kentucky, on our horse farms many have a three sided shelter facing south for the horses, cattle, all animals. At some point that would look good on your farm. I remember the opener at the first place. You need that opener, so nice of them to upgrade. Case is a good helper.

We have three common snapping turtles that live in our pond, I’ve “befriended” them over the past few years after buying our farm lmao. Now every time they see me they come swimming over full speed ahead for some aquatic turtle chow and will hang out in the water directly in front of me for hours. As a young child my father had an alligator snapper (it was a giant) I may be a tad more intimidated having those guys within inches of my toes… 🤣

Hey, Adler Farms from New Mexico, USA!
😬😟 This is for Case's Sunburn:
    1. Brew some tea, then add just enough cold water to cool it down - don't dilute it too much. (Or just let it sit til it is cool without diluting it.)
    (Do Not Add Sugar!!!)
Dip a soft dish towel in the tea and wring it out just enough so it isn't dripping - don't wring it too much, it needs to be WET. Apply to any areas that are sunburned for quick relief and leave on the affected area as long as desired.
It works - it takes the heat out and soothes the soreness if the heat is already gone!
    2. Lavender Essential Oil
A good quality pure Lavender Essential Oil can be applied to the sunburned area without having to dilute it with a carrier oil. It provides relief instantly.
    • I am also very fair skinned -
l have personally used both of these methods for intense sunburn and they both worked great.
(For future reference, the sooner you start using one of the remedies, the sooner you will have relief!)
NOTE: I was SEVERELY burned, but did not have blisters. If blistering is present, test a small area before proceeding. Do not proceed if burning or discomfort occurs.
If you still have discomfort after blisters dry up, try the Tea or Lavender again on a small area as a test to make sure no burning or discomfort occurs before proceeding.
    🙏💙

Could be a stone bruise in that hoof. My horses have in the past gotten one. They will limp until the soreness goes out. Usually foundering leads to extreme discomfort, constantly up and down, sometimes death. If healthy otherwise probably stone bruise. It will heal. An infection in the foot will usually have a very definite profound limp.

Back growing up our neighbor had a 55 gal barrel to catch rain water. When we find a snapping turtle we would put them in the barrel and every fall he would make turtle soup. The neighbor was a tavern owner and it will be a holiday turtle mulligan for everyone in town. I see a tractor or skid steer in your future plans. You would be able to mow, dig fence post holes, and general issues where you need to move something. The secret to making friends with the donkey's is get them used to eating apples. I would take apples out to the pasture and in a week or so the donkey would come running to me for the treat. When I wanted to move our donkey he would follow me anywhere for apples.

It just has to be where they can swim up and get air. Don't knowhow long they can hold their breath.

I'm a Linda so you may or may not want to hear this about donkey's. We've had them for years and at one point we had 32. The vet, who takes care of the big ranches around here, told us so long as donkey's have hay and water, they are good to go. He also said no halters should be left on. Just some info you might or might not be interested in.

Place is looking good! Nice work on the fence Case!! Hey Chad...you are super lucky {I think} by not having to wear a lock brace on your arm....my son did the exact same thing you did right around the same time maybe a week before you did...and he is in a lock brace that they adjust from 90 degrees down to a straight arm...he's at 45 degree so far...he has to PT every week ...he broke his bicep off the bone and it retracted 1/2 way up his arm and they reattached it to the bone...so maybe it is different then what you had done...who knows Dr.s are different. So glad you are feeling better though and moving around!! Love your vlogs

Chad, On the 4 rail fence, Longhorn Lester is putting up a fence right now. Beautiful 4 rail on one side, with cattle panels on the other. Very sturdy fence. His channel is ImASurvivor.
