@oVoLaTiLex The stands are used when servicing the bike, removing the wheels, storing the bike or on a race bike with the side stand removed. Tons of uses, something every rider should own.
In my opinion assistance is needed only to set the stand up. Once that is completed it is a one man show. In this video we also installed a set of spools. We needed Nick to hold the bike then as well because the kick stand has been removed from the bike.
Sam- thanks for the support, you should head up to the showroom one day. As far as spools go, no, they do not need to be the same brand as the stand. I do like the PitBull spools though, or you could look at the Woodcraft slider spools as another option. ~Aubrey
The coating will last, pretty much no matter what you do to it. The quality of these stands is incredible, I have a few that are more than 5 years old and you'd never know. ~Aubrey
Im on a 08 CBR 600rr. I tried it once by lifting the bike off the stand and holding the tail and the stand and putting the mount under the spools and lifting it but that felt like I was on edge of tipping it over. I was just wondering if there was a solid almost no fall technique or if you had to do what I was doing and balance it and be sure not to drop it over. So I got it up I was just wondering if there was an easier way.
PB stands are awesome. I've had a set for ten years going and even thought they're trashed up looking ( my fault ), these stands are built to last. They have served lifting my RC51 and other lighter bikes for many years. I also have the front stand with adapter that lifts the bike from the steering stem, which has been very useful for fork maintenance several times. A+ stands that are better constructed that other stands I've looked at. I was too paranoid that my Lockhart Philips stand would fall apart if I used it on my RC51. I keep that around for lighter bikes.
This PitBull rear stand is likely what you are looking for, it is the best quality product in the business and is easy to use. I have no problem using this stand for any size bike. ~Aubrey
i have the forward handle version of this rear stand by pitbull and it is perfect for one person because the handle is right beside you as you hold the bars. (i hold the front brake).
Are these only for 2 person use? I got one yesterday and had my girlfriend hold my bike while I lifted. Is there a way to do this with only one person or is it not safe/possible?
They're only recommending having a friend help steady the bike while you adjust it to fit. Once you get the stand to fit your bike, its easy enough to lift it and align it on your own. Least I don't have any problems lifting my bike with my rear stand..
I'm going to be cleaning my bike pretty soon and was thinking about buying this stand. What kind of coating does the stand have on it? I'm worries some of the oil and water based degreasers might damage the coating (if any). Thanks.
Those stands are very nicely made and you can buy a variety of parts. I keep an eye out for used Pit Bull stands because I'm cheap and I can adapt them to anything I own I also own one of their motorcycle jacks and it's stability is outstanding when working on Harleys etc. I'm going to drill and tap my FXR rear axle for spools (you can do that with most solid axles if you don't mind unscrewing the "nut side" spool for rear tire changes) rather than mod the swingarm.
@timsdonuts : I agree that one person is well able to easily maneuver a rear stand (even petite-sized female rookie riders such as myself) as long as the bike is aligned upright...I'd suggest placing a brick or something under the kickstand that'll help to keep the bike upright...though it wouldn't hurt to have a friend help.
I have a 2011 Yamaha FZ6R. I was wanting to buy one of these stand but Im not sure if my bike can use spools or what size to use. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
An inexpensive investment that will always be used is a quality torque wrench. You can tighten bolts and spools w/o but you will always run the risk of them vibrating out. If you torque them to spec., that risk is reduced or eliminated.
These stands are worth every penny. As for the torque wrench I agree it should be in your box, this is especially true if you do not have a ton of personal hands on mechanical experience. I have a couple torque wrenches in the box and use them selectively. Personal preference, I was also a tech at a Cadillac Dealer for 20 years before I started STG. - Van
I have enough wrench turning experience for minor car repair. On bikes i have ZERO. Im working on that because its way too expensive to take my bike to the shop for relatively simple things. Plus, having to leave it there is quite heart breaking. 👍
The bike is being held UPRIGHT (off leaning side stand) by a 2nd person (hidden off camera) so that the stand can be place evenly on both sides to lift bike.
Wow is this an old video! When I am putting the bike on the stand and am alone I jump off the bike, hold the tail section with my left hand and operate the stand with my right. Not super difficult to do, gets easier every time you do it. - Van
very good tip about having a friend help. I've tried to put my bike on the stand on my own and there's just no way I could support the weight... esp. at my size. i heard pitbulls at pretty much one of the best so, highly recommended folks lol you can't be jipped.
It has mounts for spools,I just purchased a set of spools. I just want to make sure I get a sturdy stand. My bike is a little over 500lbs . Tired of rolling my bike all over my driveway to clean & lube my chain. I've seen some stands look iffy but the one your demonstrating looks heavy duty.
I'm not sure what others ones you may have looked at but, yes, a lot of them aren't going to hold up to the weight of your bike. These PitBull stands are very sturdy and might outlast your bike... I've seen them go through some serious abuse and still look almost brand new. Can't go wrong with PitBull quality. Shoot us an email to Orders@sportbiketrackgear.com and one of the guys can take care of you. Thanks!
Hey Guys!!! First Off.. love you guys, like the fact your in Michigan!!! am from Westland. Am new to riding. just got my first bike (2008 R6). My question is does it matter what brand of spools I get? or do I have to have the same brand as my stand? Thanks
You wouldn't use spools on your bike, but you could use the standard PitBull rear stand. If you have any more questions, please shoot us an email to Orders at sportbiketrackgear and one of the guys can help you out. Thanks! ~Aubrey
Great video as always STG except for one thing. The spooled v notch actually goes tall end toward the rear of the motorcycle not the front. The reason is when the stand is installed, the v notch is level with the ground. The way you have them in this video, the v notch is lower in the rear when on the ground. Still a good video , love your store and all your helpful employees!!
So very untrue, however, you are entitled to your opinion. These stands will outlast your motorcycle and the quality is untouched compared to other cheap stands on the market. ~Aubrey
I kept having wheels break on my other stands, bought a pitbull stand awhile ago, spent the money and now its saving me money because I wont have to buy another stand for a while. Pitbull or nothing for me.
The stands are not painted and the coating should not come off. If you have a problem with the stand Pit Bull will 100% get you sorted out. Shoot them a call or an email. - Van
@oVoLaTiLex The stands are used when servicing the bike, removing the wheels, storing the bike or on a race bike with the side stand removed. Tons of uses, something every rider should own.
@jmax959 I typically use the plastic myself. Thanks for the kind words!
@oVoLaTiLex In that case you would use the stand when you work on the bike, clean the wheels or when you store the bike for a longer period.
They are a one person deal most of the time. What type of bike and stand model are you using? If you tell me that I can help you out.
In my opinion assistance is needed only to set the stand up. Once that is completed it is a one man show. In this video we also installed a set of spools. We needed Nick to hold the bike then as well because the kick stand has been removed from the bike.
Sportbike Track gear just so you know those are not anodized they are zinc plated

@AxonV2 Agree totally, the only stands we use

nice stand . I like the simple effective all in one design of the spools/flatbeds part

@ninja6kid Please tell me you are not serious. Is this Charlie Han???
@USAFFountain Thanks, easy to do a good job when you love what you do!
do you always have to have a buddy hold the bike straight? or are these just not usable if you're solo
Great review! My last bike had a centerstand but the new one doesnt.. I'll be picking one of these up soon.
Brian ur awesome at explaining this stuff all in depth with the tips best reviewer allways thoroughly explained cheers !
Hey man thank you for making this video!!!!!! I put my bike on front and back stands for the first tme...

Thank you for that vid...I think I'm sold on pit bull :)
@dyce182 You do not need any help. This is a one man operation done easily. Best stand on the market IMO.
That is good to know! Thank you!

do the spools come with a little packet of the lock tight?
No, they do not. ~Aubrey
Can it handle a 460lb Adventure Bike?
Yes this stand will hold that bike. - Van
Great video Brian it helped a lot :) thanks bud you're awesome 👏🏽
YOU are awesome! ;)
i need to order one of these for sure!

Will it work on my heavy ZRX 1200R ?
Absolutely, as long as there was a place under the swingarm or spools to lift it by, then you should be good to go. Thanks! ~Aubrey

yup I didn't use lock tight on my spools and one of them fell off :(
:( Live and learn I suppose
Thanks guys, great video.
Big strong man right there.

@USAFFountain Yes those will fit your bike
Love it! American Made! I'm strict about that!
I don't have loctite on my spools and they haven't come loose..
Will the pitbull SS Rear Stand work on my 2012 Hayabusa and my 2014 ZX14R ??
with the dimensions of the rear stands, the lifting lever seems to be disadvantageous. Nice but... ;)
Nice video, thanks. Need to improve camera man to focus better !!
This fucking video is 11 years old man and we are a motorcycle shop not a movie studio. - Van
I kept having wheels break on my other stands, bought a pitbull stand awhile ago, spent the money and now its saving me money because I wont have to buy another stand for a while. Pitbull or nothing for me.
Excellent stand , doesn't interfere with chain adjusting point. Mine has long hooks and they obscure the adjusters .. Pointless.
Am i the only one with paint scraping off while using this product?
The stands are not painted and the coating should not come off. If you have a problem with the stand Pit Bull will 100% get you sorted out. Shoot them a call or an email. - Van
@sl66ICEcuba Best stands on the market for sure
WTF was that 0.05 - 0.10???
