This drama seriously broke my heart-it was such an emotional rollercoaster. I’ve finished watching it, and I have to say, all the actors were outstanding, especially Zhao Lusi and Liu Yuning. They are absolutely brilliant, and their chemistry was pure fire 🔥-100/100! Every actor played their role to perfection, making the story even more impactful. This is truly a must-watch drama!
All actors are so amazing, especially Zhao Lusi and Liu Luning. I love this Chinese period drama, costumes were so pretty and colorful. I' m doing binge watching everyday and can't wait for the next episode. The chemistry between two main characters were riveting and lovely. I wish it has a happy ending but I totally enjoyed watching from a person who doesn't understand Chineses Mandarin. I wish it has a happy ending after what they have endured during their entire journey together ending with Duanwu success as jewelry businesswoman. I am Pilipina fan from USA .

I had watched this drama few times and never get bored watching it. Both the hero and heroin are perfect match and they compliment each other. The hero has such amazing postures, his height, looks and lean body is awesome. Both his and Zhao acting was super perfect.
Liu Yuning and Zhao Lusi give a show of acting, chemistry and charisma. Great production, wonderful story. Wonderful team. Both are excellent actors, they are expressive, Liu Yuning's voice is beautiful, he is handsome, charismatic. His every expression reveals maturity and humility. A great actor and singer.
I really enjoyed this drama. Amazing acting down to the supporting cast, fantastic scenery, great story! It's so interesting to see what they all had to go through to create this masterpiece.. while we are sitting on our couches watching with our feet up and sipping tea.. 😊
i came across this series by chance on UK Netflix and was quickly drawn in by the dazzling acting, sets and costumes - and of course, the story line. i thought Yan Zijing was ,visually, a cross between Jonny Depps Jack Sparrow, and Orlando Blooms Legolas - but with more emotional depth - and certainly the charisma . Very interesting to watch just what the actors went through to get this series completed . Thank you for providing some further insight.

Really loved this series! Thought there would be no other series as good as Pearl Girl but found another series with Zhao Lusi, ‘Who Rules The World’ on Netflix..so good! 🔥If you love Pearl Girl you will love that one too.
I don't know why some blogs are saying bad things about this drama, I'm not a fan of Lusi, but she put a lot of effort into this drama, congratulations , But even so, it seems that the support from a certain person did not have the desired effect
For the amount of times you can see their breath in the show, I figured they must have been freezing most of the time during filming. They did such a good job though.
the genre alone of the drama is enough for us to say that it is not worth to be compared to LGIEF. #ZhaoLusi really went out of her safe zone in this drama. #LiuYuning also did great in this one and i cannot imagine any other actors and actresses who can give magnanimous character portrayal as they did. credits to all the cast too. their acting and portrayal always left me teary and speechless. though the drama was set in different time, but i can say that this is a story that shows all side of every individual in different statuses. i cannot even bare to hate the antagonists because the actors and actresses gave justice in expressing properly the character and the story that the writer/author wanted to convey in every persona. as i always said whenever i gave comment about this drama-- it is a masterpiece that requires a person with strong heart, openmind, and unbiased judgement to watch until the end.
Hmm, I'm finding it hard to say but I thot the drama was so-so, I gave it a 7/10. The first 2 episodes were stunning! I could tell Zhao Lusi put a LOT of effort into the dive scenes. She has always been a good martial artist so watching crisp fight actions came as no surprise. Her dance scene was mesmerizingly beautiful. My biggest bug bear was that I found it extremely difficult to connect her and her co-star romantically. Their connection felt more like 2 cousins that get along well cos they like each other and have become quite protective of one another. This could be just me but I thot Liu Yuning could not convey romantic feelings on his face (could be the shape of his eyes) each time he had a close up, his eyeballs would shift one to the other which made him look shifty like a thief or a puppy dog left out in the rain too long. This could also be bcos I just finished watching "Love like the galaxy" (for the 15th time) and her chemistry with Wu Lei was off the charts. But I just couldn't feel a real connection between them. The drama felt off for me despite the stunning visuals and seemingly flawless performance each actor gave, it just felt a little lacking for me but now I know why. Tired and overworked actors, though they "technically" nailed their scenes, their performance lacked emotional depth - and I think this was the disconnect for me. I LOVE Zhao Lusi and her co-star but they just failed to bring it in this drama - sorry folks!
I will admit, the first half of the drama was awesome! It kept me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next episode to air. But then the storyline died down and became less fast-paced. Probably to give the actors a little break from the extreme first half. The ending was not my cup of tea though. Overall, I give this drama a 7.5/10.
