    I like how the top two comments on this videos are entirely disparate opinions on the OST.

    This game’s soundtrack is one of my favourite AY exclusive MSX soundtracks, and I especially love how well they made use of third channel alternating between back up harmony and drums(both noise and square drums)!😄🤩😎👌 This game was also the very first MSX game that learned of the existence of , back when I was younger(I used to often watch Shadowserg’s Castlevania series no damage boss fight videos a lot, and I used to research on the Castlevania wiki a lot during that time as well).

      I also love the good use of the higher octave they made use of in Wicked Child(3:05) and Poison Mind(9:10), especially in the latter!😄🤩😎👌

    while the tune isn't bad, the sound design is really weird, even for the time, being on par with how people initially treated the SN7. i bet some poor guy in the ZXS scene is trying not to shoot themself checking out this OST lol
    like, even for basic AY music they really kinda dropped the ball here. regardless these are still good tunes as always, and thanks oscilloscope daddy for uploading it!

      It's hard to name MSX soundtracks that aren't "bunch o' squares", besides titles utilizing one of the numerous expansion audio modules, of course. Many soundtracks don't even use noise, instead trying to emulate a beat with a (rather annoying, in my opinion) throbbing, staccato pulsing of one or more of the squares, and not the square wave sliding drum sound commonly utilized by European composers. As a result, MSX soundtracks tend to have this evenly spaced "duh-duh-duh-duh" sound to them that is hard to listen to, at least for me. It's very similar to, as you mentioned, SN7 soundtracks, particularly the Master System ones.
      In the video of ImATrackMan's cover of Jochen Hippel's "Buzzer", he stated that viewers of Robokabuto's livestreaming of Famicompo entries weren't aware of the sounds the Sunsoft 5B could make. The viewership being Japanese, probably, I'm assuming they were more familiar with the MSX than they were with the ZX Spectrum or Atari ST.
      Even more, Konami was quite experienced with this sound chip, so their MSX soundtracks tended to be the best ones. Vampire Killer is in the upper echelon of MSX AY music and is beaten mainly by other Konami OSTs.

    I wonder if it would be difficult to port this for an ALF-like sound card... I became interested in chiptunes thanks to the Castlevania series (including VK) and ended designing a MC-16 clone.

    I like the MSX version of "Vampire Killer" better than the other ones, it sounds like it was intended to.

    Acro, how did you get this label thing to appear beside the timestamp on the player overlay above?
    Ex. > ⏸⏭🔊 1:21 / 12:33
    • Stalker
    I would like to do that on my full album video of my TH06 PC-98 demake.

      Nevermind, I see what you mean. RUclips adds it automatically now I guess.

    • @12...
      @12... 4 года назад +3

      RUclips generates it automatically from the description.
      It's not fully reliable though, I think you need the first timestamp to be 0:00 or it won't work
      and there are some other requirements that we haven't figured out yet

    • @SilentSinnerInScarlet
      @SilentSinnerInScarlet 4 года назад +1

      @@12... I figured them out, the slash “ / ” between the timestamp and the title (spaces before and after included), as in:
      0:00 / Title 1
      1:23 / Title 2
      2:54 / Title 3
      etc.
