ULA Dragonfly 36 was my #1 bag. Discovered it this year and it is perfect for me. Swallows up packing cubes and large laptops while being one of the lightest bags. I no longer sweat when the airline weighs my bag, I just smile.

@@DaemonViews Very comfortable actually. Much better than the Peak Designs Travel Backpack and just as comfortable as Evergoods CTB 26 in my opinion. As I mentioned, it has become my #1. The only note of caution I would add is that this you must be a packing cube person.

How much weight would you say you tpically had the bag at and how long would it be comfortable?
I'm a bit worried about the comfort of the bag at 7-10kg
@@DaemonViews I was typically at maximum carry on weight for my plane which is 7kg. When in the US (domestic) I would hit 8 - 8.5 kg when I packed recklessly.

I was able to travel for 4 days to Indonesia with just the Bullet DC 18L Robic and the Wandrd Dyneema Sacoche when im out and about. Total weight 6.5kgs. If i have any overflow, the Nomatic Collapsible Tote 28L is on standby. Not every trip is the same. Cheers

GoRuck gr2 40l is what I use for pretty much all my travels from a couple of days to months. Their harnesse system is second to none, in my opinion.

You should do your a vid for your favorite EDC bag for 2025 and sling, messenger, work pack. A vid for each one.

I'm surprised with the PD bag. Soo heavy and the harness isn't that great imo.
Aer TP3 or Tortuga travel lite absence surprised me. Seem like nice bags.
I was into suitcase style bags until recently when I was looking into a new carry on roller. And I learned that I like mine which has a lid, not 50-50 opening. Which makes using it on a hotel room luggage rack so much easier.
So then I asked myself why I would want the thing I avoid for my roller in a backpack?
I went all over the place, looking for the perfect bag and kinda ended up at goruck again for the simplicity and carry comfort.
Ok I kinda lied because the tortuga expandable is also one I'm looking at. The gr2 is awesome but sooo deep in 34l. It's bumper car central in public transport with that one.

What smallish messenger bag would you recommend to go along with one of these bags to do 1.5 bag carry. I am brining one larger backpack bag and then need a smaller bag to hold other items and some medication that I need to carry. Something like that mystery ranch district 8.
Have you checked the Chio X? That's my favorite. The greenroom136 QuickDraw is good too - and the Aer Day Sling Max 3 is a nice smaller option
@ that chio looks really good, but that price! I’m sure it’s very well made though as A19 product. I was hoping for something a little more budget friendly. I’m likely to pair this with an Eagle Creek 40l tour bag, and then include a packable bag in there.

I think I’m the only person who dreams of a horizontal luggage pass through! Nobody wants to access their top compartment when their bag is on their luggage!? I would throw money at this if I find it…

Do you mean a sternum strap or do you mean a shoulder strap that you can buckle to the side and carry the bag like a duffel?

You're absolutely right. I didn't mean to specify that the collaboration version was the one that people should get, it's just the version of the bag that I have on hand.
Well you also can't buy that pathfinder since they discontinued the current one :D

That Peak Design is a mess
Military surplus packs can be had for less than $50 and will last, if you want organization; look for military medical bags (aid bags). Most of them have plastic frames now, so no problem going through TSA. I would not buy a bag without Molle webbing and compression straps, good zipper with eyelets for lock.
