Family of Frank E. Tyson hold briefing after his death in custody of Canton police

- The family of Frank E. Tyson, the man who died while in the custody of Canton police, is set to hold a press conference today alongside attorneys Ben Crump and Bobby DiCello, plus other church and community leaders.
According to organizers, those taking part in the press conference will "make clear their opposition to systemic police violence in Canton, Ohio that has led to yet another death in Northeast Ohio due to excessive deadly force by law enforcement."
“I am eager to stand shoulder-to-shoulder again with my good friend and colleague, Ben Crump. Ben has led several high-profile cases, most notably George Floyd. With our teamwork, I am confident that we will find justice for Frank Tyson,” said DiCello, the co-lead attorney for the Tyson family, in a statement.
Last Wednesday, The Canton Police Department released body camera footage showing the death of the 53-year-old Tyson while he was in police custody. The video included Tyson's last words "I can't breathe." In all, the 35-minute, 46-second video shows officers arriving to the scene, confronting Tyson, and attempting to take him into custody. After his last words, it also shows a period of 5-plus minutes where he laid motionless on the floor before police checked for a pulse.
The encounter occurred on April 18 when two officers responded to an AMVETS Post on Sherrick Road Southeast in Canton Township. Police say Tyson ran there after crashing his car near the eastern limits of the city of Canton. The video shows officers struggling to arrest Tyson before one of the officers restrains him by placing his knee on the back of Tyson's upper body. Tyson is heard on the video repeatedly saying, "I can't breathe."

The city of Canton, Ohio is run predominantly by Democrats with a Democrat Mayor. The last Republican mayor of Canton was way back in 2007.

@My_trucker I was assaulted by Massillons finest in 2015 when I was arrested. I have cerebral palsy and they made my neck worse if they would have listened to my cousin, they would have known under certain circumstances my body locks
