Robert I love your work and what you have done in terms of nature/ecological writing I have all of your books and Roger's. But seriously, why is it that you think the planet should stay constant? This world has undergone continental drift, carboniferous forest turning to a massive ice sheet, desserts to seas and vice versa (talk about climate change), All before humans were of any number to effect anything. I live in New Zealand now - in seconds the landscape can change and very dramatically Look at the Kaikoura coastline That happened at 12.04 pm one night, I know I bloody felt it. None of this can be blamed on humans or human activity. I am Scottish, and like you lament the past, but to blame what the earth has done for billions of years on humans is, to put it mildly stretching a point. I worked for the RSPB I know and have seen the massive declines in seabirds especially on Orkney. I also know that it is almost impossible to "revert" to what is natural. Did Terns and Puffins always nest on the Shants - No because a few hundred thousand years ago there was nothing but a solid ice field. Exactly what point in the ecological framework do you want us to go back and fix upon - the one of your and my childhood - I wish! Apparently the planet has little regard for your or my wishes.

I also feel confused by the same idea you just wrote. Not to reject the importance of ecological campaigns through nature literature, which perhaps for the majority of human psychology is the only way to motivate us towards creating cleaner society and the mindful consumption of natural resources. It's easier not to have to force ourselves to manage our waste for the sake of "saving" nature, if no better reason.. What do you think?

Because if the planet didnt stay constant gravity would crush us all - and then there wouldnt be none of those problems you are worried about we would have been dead long ago

Trying the entire day to find a site that you can use to get gems and gold, and only Gamecrook worked so far.
