I'm so happy Elisabeth decided not to vault because it could've been really catastrophic. Her ankle plus her mindset after falling on the first vault wouldn't be helpful.
@@evancarlson1634 Realy? Izbasa had the second qualifying score in 2012. She was the reigning European vault champion for two consecutive years. In addition to that, just before the Olympics, she unveiled a splendid Cheng. It's true, she did it in training, but it was really well-executed, and clearly ready for competition. Because Maroney fell, she chose not to complete it. With a Cheng, plus her first vault, Izabasa would have had her a higher combined difficulty than Maroney. So stop being a jerk because Maroney was not actually beaten by a nobody as you suggest.
amethyst lol I never said Izbasa wasn’t good. I said the vault she won with wasn’t good even for her. The level of difficulty of the vaults during the team final was extremely high and had much better execution than this final.
She deserves that medal! It would have been unfair if Kyla would have won the gold medal with that landing! I also think the referees overstated Pasheka's first vault.
Elisabeth Black, i think she could've done really well if it weren't for that fall... It's good that she knows her limits, if not she might have been in more pain. Go Elisabeth!
Black's decision not to risk further injury was the best decision she could've made in her career. Few years later she became an AA World silver medalist (almost gold).
+Edmund Leong They actually started the feet first rule in 2001. I heard that it was somewhat motivated by some of the vaults where people were nearly seriously hurt doing vaults they should not have been doing...i.e.-Alana Slater.
36:02 This announcer clearly didn't remember what he said. McKayla's score was never readjusted from when it was announced at 30:46 to be 15.083 for a combined score. He was obviously only looking at her score for her first vault that was 15.866 and not the combined average of the two.
People shouldn't try to excuse McKayla's mistakes in this final. First vault she landed one foot out of line and the second one she fell. She looks great in the air, but she messed up so she and all the people defending her should lose their arrogance. She didn't deserve that medal.
Her execution is very well, the reason why she didn't get the gold was because of her mistakes when landing. She is a two time world champion on the vault, that obviously shows that she is superior to the other athletes. She most definitely does not deserve the gold for the performance in the finals, but she most definitely deserves a medal for her technical skills and her execution.
Leeann Mussatt funny that in 2008 when Cheng Fei got the bronze on vault, everyone was saying that it was not fair, this was about the same mess up as Maroney did 2012. 4 years later and with her being American it would be okay if she would have won, WTF? (and remember in 2008 a fall was only 0.8 off) And Cheng Fei was 3 time World Champion 2005,2006 and 2007. what was before or after Olympics does not matter, it is about the moment and Maroney was not superb at all at this moment 2012.
Bela said Cheng's bronze was a rip off, how about Maroney's silver? American fans believe everything should be done for their athletes to win. TOO funny.
I do think it's funny that there was so much nervousness about whether Shawn Johnson would get credit for her Amanar in 2008, and Paseka was no where near as far around on hers as Shawn. Now in Glasgow, that's another story. She was terrific.
lol... so the american comentators thought u.s. would win even if she fell, and the german girl was crying because she thought she would get a medal because the american fell. But the romanian won because she had best performance without falling on her ass. lol .
Izbasa definitely should've won, but I think Paseka robbed Janine of a medal. She very nearly fell on her her Amanar and got the same execution score as Janine did on her Tsuk double full, and only .066 lower than Rogers. Maroney's scores were correct...it's Paseka's I don't get. That said, I am totally pulling for her to get gold this year. She looks like a different gymnast! It's inspiring.
Adrian A The hate on the commentators is unnecessary. They were complaining about a computer glitch, so they didn't know the exact scores. They weren't complaining about the scores themselfs.
look at the height she gets off the table and her form in the air. most people twist their legs and pike down during the twist and mckayla is completely straight. it's not just about landing.
Remember when Janine Berger did a little Performance at my school, actially crazy to still think about it. It was surreal that she made it to Olympia in 2012.
i do think there should be bigger deductions for falls. not just in this event. but i like these commentators compared with elfie and co. they're not all constantly talking about how mackayla is going to win and how much better she is than the current vaulter, when we want to just enjoy the current competitor's efforts. sandra also seems to be one of the most amazing women. you can never count her out and always seems to be so happy and gracious and loves the sport and the other competitors, no matter if she's in first or last.
You're right. În 2012 olympics she competed în the Floor finals too. She mislanded her last line, so she lost. But she smiled and congratulated everyone. She had the mindset of a true athlet

@@Amelie-ks2em huh this is the individual final
This vault final was trash tbh, like the winning vault could’ve been beaten by the majority of the gymnasts on the Russian and American teams
Awe canada I'm still so proud of you im glad she stopped though before she seriously hurt her ankle
This was a very kind and supportive crowd.
35:03 poor girl gave a hug to a sick sick monster Larry...
hahahha..sandra's reaction is just precious. she didn't expect anything at all..hahahah
As i Heard before , She was pushed by the coach to practice vault discipline , verry late . Thats why She not expected much .
She deserves that medal! It would have been unfair if Kyla would have won the gold medal with that landing! I also think the referees overstated Pasheka's first vault.
Commentators having a ridiculous hard time to accept that Sandra won, everyone knew except them...still confused 😂
completely off topic but izbasa's makeup is on point
This is one of the premier events that I enjoy during the summer olympics as well as the swimming and diving.
Elisabeth Black, i think she could've done really well if it weren't for that fall... It's good that she knows her limits, if not she might have been in more pain. Go Elisabeth!
It's elsabeth, but OK
She's the real mvp in my book
There's always next two if you are completely healed. You get your ankle destroyed by trying to continue, and your career might be over.
Black's decision not to risk further injury was the best decision she could've made in her career. Few years later she became an AA World silver medalist (almost gold).
Is Maroney the best vaulter in the world? Yes. Did she deserve gold here? No, dumbasses, she fell. In the new code, she wouldn't have medalled at all.
+raras889 Was it 0.8 points off because of the fall? Or was it already a full point in that CoP?
+Edmhere Leong Thanks! I was confused there for a second.
+Edmund Leong They actually started the feet first rule in 2001. I heard that it was somewhat motivated by some of the vaults where people were nearly seriously hurt doing vaults they should not have been doing...i.e.-Alana Slater.
مرحبا+Matthew Hines
raras889 She got Sliver cuz her start score was huge
Did anyone notice how at 30:19 Arthur Akopyan (McKayla´s coach) shushes Larry Nassar? As if he meant to say, "Don´t talk to her"
February 2019 and still watching
Sandra Izbasa the best!!!😍😍😍
do you saw how Paseka's try to congrats Mckayla and she ignored her min . 34:42
So rude
Still 2022 and I enjoy Sandra’s vault and winning 🏅 gold performance
36:02 This announcer clearly didn't remember what he said. McKayla's score was never readjusted from when it was announced at 30:46 to be 15.083 for a combined score. He was obviously only looking at her score for her first vault that was 15.866 and not the combined average of the two.
Sandra Izbasa the Best
Sandra Izbasa is probably the most beautiful gymnast that has ever lived! #Romanian beauty
its amazing the fact she is 37 years old and doing better then 18 year olds
Bravo Sandra!!!!
When I get older like that I will be able to do that stuff that they do 😀 Gymnastics is so awesome!
Are you still in gymnastics?
The height mckayla gets compared to the others is unbelievable
Sandra, wow!
good try canada! glad she stopped before she got seriously hurt! great courage!
That's a lesson in humility.
I think her execution score for her second vault was too low.
Some have more difficult skills so they get higher scores
Bela said Cheng's bronze was a rip off, how about Maroney's silver? American fans believe everything should be done for their athletes to win. TOO funny.
I do think it's funny that there was so much nervousness about whether Shawn Johnson would get credit for her Amanar in 2008, and Paseka was no where near as far around on hers as Shawn. Now in Glasgow, that's another story. She was terrific.
it was so close! there were definitely other contenders for the silver and bronze medals as well!
lol... so the american comentators thought u.s. would win even if she fell, and the german girl was crying because she thought she would get a medal because the american fell. But the romanian won because she had best performance without falling on her ass. lol .
+Adrian A Poor girl, i felt really bad for the german girl, but this is what this beautiful sport is turning into.
Thanks USA and their money
Oh well, can't win them all! US won team, all around , and floor! Congrats ladies!!!
Adrian A Berger had many form deductions and stepped into the red. Major steps on landing too. Paseka rightfully got her bronze
Adrian A The hate on the commentators is unnecessary. They were complaining about a computer glitch, so they didn't know the exact scores. They weren't complaining about the scores themselfs.
Beautiful SANDRA! THE BEST!❤
Watching this in 2019 and I freaked out when I saw Larry Nassar .it made my tummy turn a bit when he was getting so close to the girls 😟🤢
look at the height she gets off the table and her form in the air. most people twist their legs and pike down during the twist and mckayla is completely straight. it's not just about landing.
Izbasa is absolutely stunning! Poor Maroney... I guess a little too eager for the gold?
Oh well Retton beat Szabo, so I guess mistakes will cost
maseratic boychik yawn yawn yawn.
Too eager for gold? That’s literally everyone competing in the olympics, if they weren’t eager, they wouldn’t even be there lol
She got abused that day
turns out she was injured.
"we have to wait, this is not making sense, is a computer problem" even the commentators were upset 😂
We are the best ❤️🇷🇴
They weren't upset, they were confused
Seeing Larry close to all these girls, McKayla especially, is very very disturbing knowing what he’s done.
Remember when Janine Berger did a little Performance at my school, actially crazy to still think about it. It was surreal that she made it to Olympia in 2012.
SANDRA IZBASA!!!
best crowd ever
Who would have thought that five years later Ellie Black would have been the second best gymnast in the world
BRUTAL ES SANDRA ISBASA .BRAVO BRAVO.NÚMERO 1
My opinion: Gold: Sandra Izbasa Silver: Janine Berger Bronze: McKayla Maroney
The girl from the dominic republic should be proud of herself from almost doing two of the most creative and talented vaults of the whole thing.
i do think there should be bigger deductions for falls. not just in this event.
but i like these commentators compared with elfie and co. they're not all constantly talking about how mackayla is going to win and how much better she is than the current vaulter, when we want to just enjoy the current competitor's efforts.
sandra also seems to be one of the most amazing women. you can never count her out and always seems to be so happy and gracious and loves the sport and the other competitors, no matter if she's in first or last.
You're right. În 2012 olympics she competed în the Floor finals too. She mislanded her last line, so she lost. But she smiled and congratulated everyone. She had the mindset of a true athlet
36.06 When Octavian Bellu comes to the sidelines to hug Izbasa 🤗 Warms your heart. ❤️ 🏅
