  • "Although we might be measured alone, you never get there alone." After Devon Yanko dropped out of her western states 100 mile race in 2010, she rallies a new crew and a new team to help conquer the ultimate challenge. With Sally Bergesen and the team at Oiselle at her back, she's reminded to always keep her head up and her wings out.

    I've never had a crew.
In resent years it's like "the American Syndrome", that you have to be a whole comunity to help an individual do an individual effort, has spread world wide.
Sometimes people adress my like they feel sorry for me or think I'm an alien, when they find I've been running my whole life, no matter the distance, alone.
Done training and preparation alone, done the race alone and all pit-stops and getting up and getting out to keep running, alone.
To truely race and participate as an individual, to know that I did what it took, it's how it has to be.
    It makes me grow !
But ok, crossing the finishline, it would be nice to have someone waiting.
    And I'm 56 years old.

When I finished my last two races, I really wish I had had a familiar face waiting...

It's always better to do things as a community. You can't discount individual effort. But we all do our best when we are supported by fellow humans.

I'm going to start a running company for Protestant, white males. It's going to be awesome.

I see your point. No one makes gear for the under served, out of shape, lazy, and arrogant white male. How about special stretch fabrics for couch surfing, tailored with a little extra room around the gut, with graphics featuring extended middle fingers and ignorant remarks! This protestant, white male would rather hang out with the smart, powerful, and fun women of Oiselle. Fly high and far ladies.
