    Hi Jay,Wanted to know how the boot image (X64) and boot image (x86) automatically comes under boot image?Is it because we imported the install.wim ?

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  5 лет назад +3

      Very good question. It was always confusing for me to differentiate between Boot Image and OS Image when I originally started learning SCCM.
      Boot Image: It provides Windows Pre-installation environment for OS to be installed. Boot Images that you are referring are there by default. They should have a comment "This boot image created during the setup".
      OS Image: This is what we added in the video. This is the wim file which is used to install the OS.
      Example: If your boot image version is 1803 and your OS Image version is 1809. Pre-install environment will be created by 1803 and OS install will be 1809. When the OS deployment will be completed and you do "winver" in the command prompt the version of the installed OS would be 1809.

      Also no further config required for WDS. ConfigMgr just needs the role to be present on the box to utilise it’s components.

    The first, when install WDS, witch is the correct option for MECM installing? Active Directory based or Stand Alone?
    And the second, you told in Part 17 that you explain creating Computer Collections. Where can i found this. I search in many videos from you, but can´t found it.

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  2 года назад

      Hi Armin
      WDS is no longer required as you can use ConfigMgr pxe. Personally I haven’t ran into any issues so far with ConfigMgr pxe.
      You can create new collections under Device Collections.

    Nice video. I have a question, if you dont't specify the OSDComputerName variable, are you still able to deploy a domain joint computer? I am asking this because if I don't do that I will get a computer name like MINTPCXYZ (like you said) but it is not join to the domain. Also, do you need to pre-create the computer object in AD in order to make it work?

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  3 года назад

      1. Yes, you would be able to domain join. As long as you have provided an account in the Task Sequence which has permissions to domain join the device.
      2. You don't need to create the computer object in AD beforehand. Again, it depends on the account you have used in the Task Sequence to domain join the computer object.

    Hi Jay,
    I can successfully deploy Windows 10 via task sequence, but not for Configuration Manager Client Agent. It didn't appear the task sequence installation message for Configuration Manager Client Agent on 26:17. I heard there might be an issue about agent installation, router(gateway setting is required) or Internet activity is required. Is this the reason I cannot have agent automatically installed? Might need your advice about it, thank you!

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  4 года назад

      Hi Lynn,
      I am assuming you have already checked that Config Manager Client is part of the TS.
      Config Manager Client installation does not need any router /gateway/Internet. If the Config Manager Client's content is distributed and it is part of the TS, it should get installed. Alternatively, you can check smsts.log file and it will give you all the detailed knowledge what happens in the background.

      Copy winpe wim from this location C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment to somewhere where you save SCCM content. Make sure select the right architecture. Once copied then use add boot image option in Software Library > Operating Systems. I hope it helps.

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  3 года назад

      You need to configure PXE Boot in DHCP options if the client and servers are on the same network. In the most cases, that would be the scenario. Having said that, if clients and servers aren’t on the same network then IP helpers configuration is required. IP helpers is not demonstrated in this video.

    I'm only seeing one boot image (x86) at 11:28. Am I correct in saying that these both 32 bit and 64 bit boot images should have been installed automatically or there is this something I have to do manually?

      If this is the case, you need to manually import 64 bit boot image.

      I've fixed this..just incase anyone else comes across this issue. I copied the boot.wim from \\teknex-sc01\SMS_TEK\OSD\boot\x64 and pasted into my shared folder in \\teknex-dc01\applications\images. Great video. Thank you! I have a question...my network is segmented, and each sector has a specific network. Only the clients of the network that is SCCM that can receive the image for the installation. How do I install the system in other networks?

    • @TekNexSolutions
      @TekNexSolutions  3 года назад

      Hi Tiago
      It is always tricky to get that working with segmented network. It varies network to network. IP Helpers are recommended by MS, check documentation here docs.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/mem/configmgr/boot-from-pxe-server. We have it working without IP helpers because just certain models don't pxe boot and rest does. For those we have IPs reserved in the DHCP, which did the trick for us.
      Jay

    • @razadaza9651
      @razadaza9651 2 года назад

      Note also, you shouldn’t need option 67 in DHCP if you use both bios or Uefi, but still option 67 doesn’t need to be used especially if the boot file changes, your IP helper will get the required information from the DHCP and point it to the pxe boot server

      You need to check the SMSTS log. You can follow this link to check how to retrieve smsts.log social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/30109.sccm-how-to-copy-smsts-log-when-a-task-sequence-fails.aspx.

      Here is the solution. Go to Distribution point properties > Communication tab > check "allow clients to connect anonymously"

    Thanks for this series and it helps me a lot, but I cannot deploy Windows 10 by following your instructions. When the computer boot from network it shows checking media presence..... media present.... start pxe over ipv4.... and then jump to checking media presence..... media present..... start pxe over ipv6. It doesn't show any errors on the screen and then it loads the current windows.
    I check smspxe.log and find the errors:
    RequestMPKeyInformation: Send() failed.
    PXE::MP_InitializeTransport failed; 0x80004005
    PXE::MP_LookupDevice failed; 0x80070490
    PXE Provider failed to initialize MP connection. Element not found. (Error: 80070490; Source: Windows)
    Did you encounter these errors before?
