Hi barbie I have a quick? Please? Do citrine bracelets have white, yellow, and red colors? The white is like the cloudy in your crystals. But I didn't know citrine had red specks ?

Sooooo as a geo, just letting you know you can get natural citrine with a more cloudy base, it doesn't necessarily mean it was lab made. All minerals are created with heat and pressure so it would just depend on the locality. The yellow coloring is due to element inclusions, and color is the last thing to look at in the determination of a mineral as a general rule. Ive seen an extremely wide range of quartz variations and the color intensity/abundance depends on a variety of factors, like temperature, pressure, element inclusions, surrounding minerals, deposit type etc.. no shade, just an FYI :) ...either way if you out it in the sun long enough, it'll lose its color.

You are correct, but she is also correct when talking about what we are seeing on the market via wholesale. Its a great guide when buying stuff wholesale in bulk, especially overseas. It is less accurate when buying single high quality pieces though, and single specimen pieces of good quality are like you describe and you can't go by the hints talked about in this video. Thanks for sharing your knowledge though as it is very helpful to get the whole story.

@@ColdBrewBarbie I have worked at a high end crystal shop for years and while some of what you’ve said is true, it’s also true that some genuine citrines look like the stones on the right, depending on locality. For example, Citrine from the Congo can be more yellow than honey. It can be cloudy or clear. And it can have a white base, but still be real citrine. Also, high end polished citrine points or towers also look like the point on the right. And they’re all real. Not hating, just informing. :) Love your videos.

I work off miners tailings all the time. Even on a mountain side have a cloudy or white base is completely natural. Digging on the mountains you will also find simple things. For instance it's common to find cloudy or lightly faded color amethyst at the base of growth for the crystals. And as stated before, all crystals are created through heat and pressure. A better way to tell whether you have real material would also be locality. Knowing what kind of material comes out of the area you are buying it from. Because this can tell you a number of things you would need to know in order to tell if it should look like that or not. It's like trying to buy amethyst. 90%+ of the amethyst in the market is heat treated but knowing simply where it came from can answer whether or not your amethyst is natural or heat treated by man. Also sanding plays a role in the way many people sell crystals. Most people will sand down the stones to get rid of outer fractures and rusting or pyrite materials. So a solidly uniformed crystal doesn't mean it's not a natural stone.

Great video! Love to see someone talking about this since it doesn't seem to be talked about much. Lemon quartz is man irradiated clear or smoky quartz, and can have phantoms, but just wanna let you know that genuine citrine can also have phantoms naturally. Phantoms indicate a temporary change in conditions while growing. I have been collecting citrine for a while now and I have quite a bit of natural raw Zambian citrine that show phantoms on the smaller points, but it is significantly less common to see phantoms on Brazilian citrine it seems.

Thank so much for this video! I found that certain crystal and gemstone retailers selling high quality strands of "citrine" beads (for jewelry making) are in fact heat treated amethyst. The beauty, clarity and sparkle is evident in the faceted bead but the color is of a deep yellow-orange reminiscent of imperial topaz. These beads are not natural citrine. Most retailers won't bring it up unless the customer inquires.
You mention the costly "wastage" on natural citrine...which explains why these quality faceted beads are in fact treated amethyst and not natural citrine. Pricey enough for the quality, they would have been much more if the beads were authentic citrine.

  • @Luckybetta

Thank you for the information. This is very eye opening. I just thought the "fake" citrine was that obvious, baked burnt orange color, especially if it had a white base. 😒. Turns out I have more in my collection than I thought, because they look more like the ones on the right side of your tray. 😕. Some have phantoms and are more a bright yellow, like your examples, and they are more precision cut indicative of Chinese carvers. Looks like I have only four actual authentic citrine pieces in my entire collection. 😳. That being said, I've done a LOT of work with the crystals that I thought were "smokey citrine", and they have served me well and are VERY powerful and protective. (On a few occasions, they've absorbed so much negative energy, that they actually turned black!). They are also excellent for healing/cleansing/purging your solar plexus and intestines. And also looking back, I thankfully didn't get ripped off on pricing, in hind sight, I paid for what I got, NOT what I thought I was buying, so that's all good. 😁👍. Each of my crystals that I have in my collection are there because the energy called to me, and it turns out I do more work with the altered/ modified "smokey citrine" than the natural. Maybe because of the irradiation, it's more offensive in nature when you're doing the heavy lifting in energy work. Feels more attack dog than guard dog to me, if that makes sense. Thank you for the information, I learned something new today. 😃💎🥰

Darker comes from places closest to equator…. It’s labeled Citron in northern areas ie. Russia , china , etc because it doesn’t have the darker orange hue but more of a green yellow. Still natural, their markets aren’t compelled to sell to western markets as much as Brazil and Madagascar or Africa aka places closer to us so that’s just what we’re used to. China and Russia have THOUSANDS more miles and caves to excavate for crystals and guaranteed we have yet to see all those lands have to offer

Then wound up buying some pieces on the right, and thought they were real vitrines :’) I spent a pretty penny on the ones I thought were real but they have the excess white, the phantoms, now that I put it in the light the color isn’t as even and it’s sad ;’)

In some rare cases when amethyst is heat treated, rather than turning into citrine, it turns a pale green colour.
P.S. the only the crystal skull has been carved, all the other man made shapes have been "cut and polished*, most were faceted, the sphere would be considered shaped, in essence it was cut and polished by a series of machines rather than the skilled hands of a lapidary, nonetheless only the skull was carved by a carver.

I don't know if you mentioned that in the video. But that yellow color is a dead giveaway to me. A lot of times, retailers will call that "lemon" quartz or "lemon" citrine

Hi.. here to tell ya... I work with Brasilian citrine .. and it's really expensive. People tends to lie about that so they can sell their materials, but I'm really against this

I think the big boy one looks like Amethyst in its previous life 😂 the very signaling "lines" which is very typical of Amethyst and not Smoky.

Is it safer to just buy citrine clusters? Or is there a way to fake cluster (in quartz) formation as well?

Not citrine but I had bought lots of Clear Quartz online believing that they are real until I found a shop that sells legit natural clear quartz. The differences that I saw is the clarity.
    FAKE
-looks like the tower on the right side of the video which has extreme clarity that doesnt look so natural as it is TOO MUCH CLEAR just like how clear a glass is ( a lot of them )
-Beware as sound test doesnt work on them. It doesnt sound glass at all. It sounds like QUARTZ! Idk how they did it but there are still some things you can look at so you’ll not be fooled.
-Beware from clusters, a lot of them are lab made and looks real. But you can notice that the points in their clusters are smaller than what is natural since they are forced to form in a small amount of time.
-You can see from the items their are selling are almost all are identical in shapes and sizes which means lab made and are almost perfect for them to sell it more easily.
-When it breaks, it will have this certain type of look which happens when glass breaks, which they know you wont try to break them so...
    NATURAL
-Even if it breaks, it will less likely cut you because even if it is already broken, it is still more blunt than glass.
-You can search but they have a very different appearance when a real ones break compared to those who are made of glass.
-Unpolished natural crystals has a distinct patterns and roughness at the surface.
-They quite sound differently than the “stone sound” of the fake ones.
Companies and manufacturing really did a great job at copying what mother nature gave us. It’s really fine with me as long as they state that those are not the legit crystals found on earth rather are lab made, but no. They wont tell you that because you wont buy. What’s worse is that they sell those fake crystals near the price of the ORGINAL ones! I spent a lot of money buying from those shops and believe me they are EVERYWHERE. It is very hard to detect which one is real from which on is not.
Please do your research before buying and please buy from respected sellers which sells only legit crystals. Good luck!

    • @swagapino444

unfortunately there’s no way to restore color but it’s very common for rose quartz to be a muted pink !

That is also found in nature as well. For instance I find some pieces when working at mines that are a combination or smokey an amethyst or can also show smokey citrine. Seeing two colors in the stone doesn't mean it's not real. I would actually learn to distinguish between real and fake quartz by learning to distinguish between the way it forms in nature compared to the way its made.
