I'm so very glad I found your channel, I have some of these same old vehicles in my garage that I still run with my kids, so it's nice to see that someone else is still running these old classics. I did the same "conversion" on my Pumpkin/Lunchbox chassis. To help with wheelie issues, I found that you can flip the wheelie bar upside down (it may require a slight bit of modification) to give it a better chance to stop the front from coming up. You also might try stiffening the springs on the front motor pod pivot, or go with the really old Grasshopper fixed pivot mounts.
You are very welcome dude! We have a bunch of fun running old classics, rereleases and of course some new models. Great advice on the wheelie bar. I have had that suggestion from another source too so watch this space! Stiffer springs… will look into that also. Thanks for the great comment dude 👍🏻🙌🏻
Hey Mattias, it seems to be gathering the name Pumpbox from my subscribers 😂 We love hybrid models on the OAG… wait until you see Fridays mega video on the Hybrid Astute Madcap!
Nice timing with this video - I've (finally!) picked myself up a Lunchbox (Black Edition) and was wondering if I could get away with not painting the body. And after watching this, I now know the answer! It looks great as it is, and the bonus is I won't scratch all the paint up when I run it at the circuit. 😁
Perfect timing it seems David! I was worried at first about not painting it but looked to be the best option in the end. The black edition is a real awesome looking RC and I am pleased to have ended up with that albeit quite an odd way 😂🤣
Hey Keith, thanks buddy! I debated it but decided that the Pumpkin had its chance and the Pumpbox was born!! Still won’t get round the track without ending up on the roof though 😂🤣
Hey looks great Craig. Just paint the back lights. I normally do anyway as those stickers don't stay stuck too well. Also looks good to do the indicators. Best wishes mate 👍👍
You might be right Dirk as there is no power being applied there. I though it was a good way of getting a bit of weight in the front of the chassis… perhaps that is where is should put the weights 🤔
@@theoagrc just as a thought, mine ha a very hard front aluminium front arms, 700er oil. I had to change the chassis last year, cracked at the damper mounts. I know the steering doesen't work so precise, but in my mind the softer the better🤔
I’m no purist, this looks absolutely sick to the gills! I ❤️ it Craig. I thought it would be a wheelie machine! Of course that doesn’t help you getting around a track quickly does it! I’m betting those weights will help. Or maybe some slightly taller gearing. I’m sure you’ll get it all figured out! It’s definitely Rockin it though for sure!
Hey Robbie, glad you like the Pumpbox! It is an absolute wheelie machine and it is a monster to control on the track. We have a few more tweaks before next outing and I am expecting it to give me loads of smiles if nothing else!! Thanks for watching pal 👍🏻🙌🏻
That's such a cool idea matey.... Those pumpkin stickers work so well on the box! Although, my instincts/experience are telling me it's not going to look like this for long! 🤣 🤕 Tamiya brush paints work well for the light details on this shell, look far better than decals. One things for sure, you're guna have a big smile on your face when this one hits the track with that BZ! 🤣 👍 👍 👍 👍
I am going to get on and paint the lights I think this week. A great suggestion there dude! The Pumpbox is born and ready to rock! I wasn’t going to enter it into the OR series this year but I have had an overwhelming sense that everyone wants to see it so it will be there!
@@theoagrc Very wise decision mate..... I've yet to meet anyone who doesn't like a CWO1! And, even if it doesn't stand a huge chance of posting high on the leader board, it's guaranteed to create a very enjoyable run/hugely entertaining video! 🤣 👍 👍 👍 👍
I mean, everyone loves a lunchie so you can't go wrong there. I like the Pumpkin Box... or maybe the Lumpkin! The wheel weights up front will do well to hold the front end down. Try them one at a time and see how it goes, too much and it will be smooshing the front end down. I think I ended up with 2.5 ounces in the front for the speed runs and took out an ounce afterwards and that seems to work about right. Have fun testing and running it around with the new cool new look!
Hey Addam, it seems we have settled on the Pumpbox! Great advice adding weight a little at a time. I have had so much advice from these two videos there will be a part 3 and maybe a part 4 in the coming months!! It might even be reinstated to the OR league!! Thanks for watching pal 👍🏻🙌🏻
Great video! Love your content. My advice on these wheels and tyres. Put on rubber bands on beads and tires wont slip and stay still. I dont like glueing, because I want to be able to replace tyres or interchange them easily. But after a few runs they start slipping on the rim. Kinda like a slipper clutch, does reduce wheelies :) But rubber bands will stop that
Great suggestion Mindau! I have not done anything with the tyres yet but I am going to try those rubber bands. Do you put them on the edges of the wheels or in the middle?
@@theoagrc I put one or two bands per rim bead (groove) (where the rubber seats in the rim, on the outer edges of the rim). This technique helped many of my cars which use these lunchbox style wheels.
Hey Damien, thanks for watching pal. Yeah a few have suggested that, great idea dude! I am going to get the paint out and add that detail this week. Few other awesome suggestions have been made too and your channel has been recommended 😎

Can't beat those alloy body mounts, Craig! Good idea to do the conversion. Looks great dude and at least you can't scratch the paintwork! :O)

Sweet looking Luch Pumpkin, turned out great. Nice job Craig.

Very nice Craig. Loving the mix and match of body and decals. I did the same with my black lunchbox so no risk of scratching the paint. ATB mate 👍
Hey Rob, thanks for checking it out pal! It was a crazy idea that just worked! The Pumpbox is ready to rock!
Nice mash up Craig! I love the look of it!👍😎

terrific looking! So I agree, gluing tyres good for traction. And I also added a few ounces of weight up front. Room for fine tuning though. Cheers!
Thanks for watching Mauzyrock! Great advice dude and I think it is going to perform loads better once tweaked!

Thanks Pete, good suggestions. Thanks to a subscriber I have a few spare decals to bash on for this season 😎 Thanks for watching bud 👍🏻🙌🏻
Looking awesome Craig. It looks like youhav to balance the wheels. The foam might cause this phenemenon. Not sure if it's needed in the front wheels🤔
