The last couple years were a difficult time in my life. During that time, the calm and very detailed explanations of retro game mechanics helped bring relief during painful moments. I still rewatch my favorite episodes almost every day. Your hard work and knowledge is evident in every video. Here's to many more years. Thank you.
First time I've ever supported a channel. This man has standards he's not willing to compromise, and I fully respect and appreciate that. Then pay you directly, I shall.
I'm sorry I can't support you financially, but I enjoy your videos, even when they're as clear as mud to me. I also admire your integrity: I also find it annoying when video creators interrupt their video to push some random thing that I have no interest in. Keep up the good work!
I am now supporting on both. I remember exactly when found you years ago. I was watching a game glitches compilation and I saw a really interesting one and I searched for more info on it and just by luck you had posted super mario land 2 memory exploration just 2 weeks prior and I was amazed at how in depth you looked into all aspects of this glitch (still my favorite video). I remember fondly in the earlier years of me finding your channel, watching you on friday nights while waiting for my ride after broadcasting football games in my high school club. From the moment I could and I always tried to give as much as I could because i knew the value of your videos. Out of all the channels I have watched, you are the only channel I have kept watching over those 5 years. It is inspiring to see one man put soo much effort into a single video about such a niche and specific thing. I can't wait to see what the future holds.
I watched through to the end. :) I always watch through at least to the point where you finish your script, partly because I like seeing my icon roll on to the screen. I think more people should take that point of pride, especially because so many creators on RUclips don't make that an option. Come on, folks!
I think the most entertaining videos are those that deal with graphics (such as "Earthbound battle backgrounds" or "NES background parallax explained") as you can then have plenty of visual examples. In contrast, those videos with lots of hexadecimal charts are bit more...how would I describe them...academic and often go beyond my understanding. But maybe for some those technical details are the most interesting parts, so you can't please everyone, and nor should you.
I watched it all the way through, just like I do with all your videos. I also subbed to the Patreon. Thanks for the videos, they're always great to watch!
I recommend mentioning your patreon, youtube memberships and discord at the start AND end of each video. I know it's annoying to do but it is an absolute necessity to get the word out
ive seen so many videos that start with "this video was made possible by my supporters on patreon" and it's not disrupting any content, that's probably the best way to put it at the start of a video
Thanks for your channel, I watch your videos to the end :-) One day i'd love to see a description of the code internals for Atari Starwars arcade game, the source is floating around online, but being pure assembler and running on odd hardware I don't think it is a simple task to understand.
Can I suggest thinking about a video about some Mario game to attempt to get out next month to ride the coat tails of Mario Wonder coming out? It might give you some SEO goodness.
I'm not currently in a position where I can provide much financial support, but you always do an amazing job with all your videos, especially the visualizations that clearly explain each concept or the inner workings of the game, and I always watch videos to the end. Hope you can get the house finished soon. Keep up the excellent work :)
I'm one of the few who watch your videos all the way to the end, lol-I regularly put on the SNES hardware videos to fall asleep to 😅 (Don't worry, I watched them for real when they first came out)
I find your content endlessly fascinating! Thank you for all the effort you put in your videos. It however saddens me to hear you hold off the topics you like the most yourself. And that you make videos you enjoy less, but make you more money (which obviously is a requirement to live a life). Don't take advice from me (or anyone in the comment section for that matter ;) ), but I feel like the most important factor should be: you enjoying your own channel, your own work. You already mention people get burnouts when hobbies become their work and they start to dislike what they are doing. On the other hand, if you would decide to return to posting about your most enjoyable topics, it might mean you need a job on the side, so it definitely comes with a major drawback. I hope you receive the extra appreciation after this video you deserve. All the best!
I should clarify that I don't dislike any of the topics I make videos on--I still very much enjoy everything I make, otherwise I wouldn't be making it! So it's not really *that* big of a deal. Especially since I know somewhere down the road I will eventually be able to visit those topics I really want to cover, when I'm not so dependent on the _algorithm_!
I mean it would be great but dude, you uploaded only every once in a good while. I want to support and join but I don't see how that's going to happen whenever things are uploaded at that rate. I hope you make more stuff more often soon
Dude, those annoying things that every RUclips channel does are comprehensible. I wouldn't mind if you went full self-promotion mode. Don't waste opportunities.
I absolutely love the SNES & SPC700 series. It pains me to hear that you aren't going to continue them. I have watched those videos several times. I do understand your position though. Keep in mind that no matter what you do, we love you and everything you do.
They will continue, just not in the near future. More like a hiatus. (Except for maybe the SPC700 video on ADSR since I already have most of the script for that one done.)
I will literally watch every video on this channel just to support you bro, I love retro mechanics and all the wierd shenanigans they produce. I don't mind if you start needing to mention your stuff at both the beginning and end as the beginning is one of the best times as you will guarantee that it is seen.
These SNES and SPC700 explainer videos are basically documentation of the hardware and how to use it in video form, which i suspect is a content form thats a really slow burner. I have basically watched all of them to understand the old hardware in depth for making my own roms that can run on that hardware. Currently without any sound whatsoever since i dont actually know how to drive the DSP, let alone how to write music. And i probably wont bother since all of those projects are currently on ice indefinitely.
Hi, I wish I could join, but I am broke as heck. I really like your videos and I have learned a lot from them. I told my friends at school about it and they told me I was a huge nerd. And I feel proud for it. Keep pumping out these videos, sir!
@@RGMechEx fair! I’ve just never seen one of those clips. I’m not really a livestream kind of guy - I followed you here from your personal channel because I’m absolutely addicted to deep dives on old hardware
I just did VIP. Love your content and I wish I had the time to do disassembly analysis but work too much. Please keep up on interesting topics like atari copy protection etc.
I reference these often enough I honestly should be a patron... so I corrected the problem and am now a patron. Thank you for your beautiful visualizations and insight.

Just subscribed to the Patreon 👍 keep up the good work. You've been the reason I'm trying to make similar videos, but it's a hard process and I respect your ability to do so as often as you do.
Was afraid of hearing some bullcrap but am I right in assuming these memberships will basically be just another way to support the channel and stuff? No incoming paywalls or whatnot?
I always watch your videos right till the end. Always enjoyed them even from back when you had them on your "dotsarecool" youtube haha. As someone who has studied a little computer science as part of electrical engineering, I really enjoy all of them. These type of videos are why I use youtube in the first place! Hopefully your house restoration goes well and is finished soon! Take care mate.
I can't contribute financially, yet. But is there any other way I can help? I share your videos frequently and I play a Playlist of them almost nightly. I've had many dreams inspired by your videos.
