- My humble solo rendition of these two iconic Queen songs.
I've tried my best to capture the emotion of Freddie Mercury's vocal and piano performance as well as the incredible feel and power that the great Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon created.
Not an easy feat in one unedited linear performance! For all my tone quest friends, here’s the gear I used:

Strymon Timeline
GigRig G2 switching system
Both amps on, running in stereo with the Strymon splitting the signal.
2 SM 57s for mic-ing into Neve 1272 mic preamps. Recorded in Logic with

One of the most incredible things I’ve seen in a long time. Andy’s talent and ability to do what he does and take this incredible composition and represent so much of it by himself is beyond epic. One of my all time favorite musicians covering the greatest band of all time. A match made in heaven.

There are so few guitarists who can play the instrument in such a way as to bring vocals to life. Andy is a master at doing so. The thought he puts into where on the fretboard he is best placed to be at any point to capture the vocal characteristics he is emulating; how he picks each note; and then there's his use of equipment to serve the song. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Im just happy to be in the same timeline to see this.
Since the movie came out, popularity of the Bohemian Rhapsody became enormous among musicians and many made covers (e.g. Generation Axe), but non of them did it like Andy. This is by far the best published rendition of this tune, truly emotional , 100% correct and without unnecessary improvisations. Not to say that it is a fully guitar "A Capella" without backing tracks to fulfill gaps. No gaps with Andy :). I like the background too, Vox with broken speaker cover, Marshall with half missing logo...all in all, perfect video!
Just one man can play ALONE that complex song and sounds great. That's why Andy Timmons is my guitar hero!!

and the Grammy for Best Guitar Instrumental goes to AndyTimmons, at least if i would be on the jury. I was lucky enough to catch Andy at the Iridium in Manhattan 2-3 years ago. Only about 40-50 people. like a private concert and an audiophile guitar sound experience. This here is another signature piece. Thank you Andy for this "christmas gift". Feel free to re-record with band and overdubs and everything your pedal board can add to a magical guitar experience.

Absolutely incredible, Andy! Perfect arrangement and performance! So easy to take for granted just how hard this kind of 'chord melody' approach is - using mainly the pick like this. When I listen to Andy play it is always transcending, whether it's his original material or a cover. I once drove over 500 miles (one way) to see him play a show. I would do it again in a second.

Good night, this man has a gift from God! Very talented. I have never heard such a great version of this song (I heard Vai, Malmsteen, Wylde, do this song but Andy does it way better, classy and tastier than those 4 guys ever could! Plus, he does it by himself! And does a superb job! As much as I respect Vai and those guys, Andy has a completely unique style of playing) Had no idea you and Brian May use a coin to play, ha. May you use your gift from God to glorify the Almighty!
Without a doubt, he is brilliantly gifted, and a very hard worker!! I think Andy is simply giving Brian May a nod using a sixpence. I have some signature picks that Andy actually sent me, and they're DunlopTortex Jazz 3's.
For some 30plus years I have been a fan.....its insane how this man continues to push himself as a player!! He can shred with best of them, has chops to take a tree down, writes and sings.....he probably is well versed in theory yet never sounds like a robot( yes, I more than imply certain players versed in theory, sound like machines....lifeless and void of soul) Andy Timmons has tone and phrasing and a melodic sense that is second to none. Brilliant version of an epic song!! One guitar player showing what one man playing a guitar can truly do!!!
