    Interesting all these foreigners here acting like medial professionals and commenting on our Princess Josephine as if she is some raving lunatic. She is a 13 year old teenager and to us there was nothing not normal about her.
    We are not British and our royals are certainly not British either so stop comparing our royal family to them.
    If she does happen to have any issues, I can assure you that in Denmark this would be nowhere near a scandal or anything of the sort. In fact, she and her family would be surrounded by heartfelt sympathy and support.
    The Queen’s late husband’s behaviour became rather erratic during the last years of his life, and there was a fair amount of criticism directed towards him because of it.
    However, when it became known that he was suffering from dementia which was the cause of his erratic behavior, all criticism stopped at once and a wave of sympathy and support surged towards the Queen and the family in support.
    Concern and support, not the criticism, negativity, and condescending comments as expressed in this thread.

      @julianneheindorf yes, I remember re. Prince Henrik. How he said things and acted in ways that seemed bizarre, shocking, hurtful and disrespectful to the monarchy and especially to the monarch- his own _wife._ And how people at first thought he was just his usual self, only rudely more so (remember the "riding on a unicorn" portrait, or the juicy poetry?) But then when the diagnosis was made public, OF COURSE people were (more) understanding. So, in this case, if there _is_ a diagnosis, that better be shared with the public in appropriate ways, too. And THEN the public surely will be understanding and it's no big deal. Emphasis on, "then". Yes, there are things that one would rather not talk about. But as a royal/public persona, other rules apply. Princess Catherine would probably not have discussed her pregnancy discomforts with everybody and his wife; or Princess Mette-Marit would not have wished to talk about her lung issues, either. But as these things interfered with their duties, privacy had to take a back seat. 🤷 That's the back side of the royal coin. One of them. 🤷

      @@emmajones8590 some things, unfortunately, come with the position whether you want it or not. He turned 18, and is (I presume) now old enough to take over should his father pass away at an untimely age (long live the king!). And that's a big milestone and was to be publicly recognized. When he gets married, that will also be a public thing- like it or not. His siblings probably can go low key, if they prefer. He is public property, so to speak. 🤷 So far, he seems to be bearing it well. May it be so. 😊

    • @skindstad
      @skindstad 11 месяцев назад +9

      Oh Isabella has in public told her mother to shut up. So she's had her case of teenage rebellion. They are kids and have been allowed to act like kids. Gone to public schools and in most cases they actually behave really well when in public. But just like any kids they can have a bad day, a day with too many impressions, so people seriously need to give any kids who are in the public eye a rest.

    • @emmajones8590
      @emmajones8590 11 месяцев назад +3

      @@skindstad Yep. They have way too little privacy. I remember the photo of our crown princess Amalia yawning widely, at (I think it was) the coronation of her parents. Or that service where the power was handed over. They didn't war crowns. She was about 10 at the time.

  • @skindstad
    @skindstad 11 месяцев назад +10

    Anyone who's followed Frederik, Mary and their kids can remember the time Isabella told Mary to shut up in public. Christian has been all over the place when he was younger and the same thing with the twins. However when that's said most of the time they are well behaved when they are presented to the public. Just like any other kids the royal children can get overloaded with impressions, all the cameras flashing at them or simply have a bad day. And the 14th was a lot to take in with all the people. Just look at how Josephine is clinging to her dad in the way out and Vincent does the same on the way in. At least they can have a rest from all that until Sunday when they are in the spotlight again.

    As a parent of an adult autistic person, I do recognise little "flickerings" of that there. Also in how her different family members are trying to "contain" her; it is as if they know they have to "watch" and guide her. But, hopefully it is not true.

    • @taniadutoit5982

      Hi @ncard00, I am not in your shoes, so, for you, I cannot tell. I am surely also not going to apologise for saying what I did. I know very well that there are so many challenges for most of the people who have this condition. And yes, even if the maladjustment is with society, as you stated, it still is a challenge, nonetheless, one that one would most probably not choose if you have a say in the matter right from the start. But if it is, it IS ... and then one has to deal with reality, pussyfooting around it, in my opinion, helps no-one. In our case, I as a parent have made the adjustments that were possible and necessary and yes, that has also asked from me to sacrifice my career (no blame, just a fact) in order to chaperone my child through this world as best as I can. What I also meant, is that if a person with autism is in a family which is constantly in the public eye, it might (it might also not) add to the already existing challenges: For the parents as well as for the siblings, as well as for the actual autistic child as well. I have lived through this in many shades of the situation over many decades and I do know what I am talking about in the case of my own family. Of course cannot and dare not speak on the behalf of any other individual or family. I just know it is not easy and as you suggested, society around us is not always receptive and clued up enough to make this an easy ride. Pity. At the same time, should this be true for the young princess, it might open up an opportunity to create an awareness and educate society to a better understanding and dealing with the condition and people who are wired that way. I have had T-shirts made for our family member (and for us all) stating: "Autism is my condition. Let ignorance not be yours!" It made many things much easier and less awkward for when my child was younger, especially. In fact, this family member of ours has a career which I have to facilitate, we are a happily integrated family. It did not happen by itself, though, it was a conscious decision to make it happen and to work for it. This might be a major sensitivity or area for concern for the young princess's life and development, should she indeed have this condition, when her parents and siblings are highly obligated to other jobs, plights and responsibilities, and if there is not informed able and loving assistance on hand at all times. You should know that change and instability is not ideal for most living with autism. Especially at this vulnerable stage of development of the turbulent teens. I know what I am talking about. Hope you understand my observation a bit better, that you might want to agree that it came from a place of experience, care, sincere concern and a deep hope that they will all be OK in this. I do believe so. For what it is worth, this kind of situation very often plays a curveball or two on relationships and marriages. It is not easy for all kinds of personalities to deal with this road, which is a slight orientation apart from the normal route. I wish you joy and happiness! Thank you for engaging in this interesting and I believe, necessary, conversation.

      Autism, PDDNOS, AD(H)D etc. if those what you are referring to, are a spectrum. You can have a few mild traits, or you can be completely non verbal and non functional. She would be a 'light' case, if there is anything wrong with her at all. Might just be her personality and poking fun at these kinds of events.

      @@emmajones8590 I so totally know this; I often do radio talks on this, or talk to new parents discovering their child to be on the spectrum, etc. Wherever you happen to be diagnosed on this spectrum, it still is a condition recognised as xyz. My best conclusion on this remains: When you have met ONE autistic person, you have met only that ONE. No single blueprint replica of a person on this spectrum exists. To claim knowledge and insight is only ever partially possible.

      I agree, I noticed her behavior immediately. Something just seems to be "off" with that girl. Princess Charlotte and Prince George have the decorum or royal children. Prince Louis has age appropriate behavior, but this girl either has a problem or she's a huge brat and good luck trying to tame her! In some clips it appeared that her elder sister and brother were trying to pull her back. I'm certain that the King and Queen will get her all the help she needs if that turns out to be the case. And I do not feel you were being "negative" in your comments, I felt you were making an honest observation.

IMO, her father seems either terrified, or afraid of taking on the role of king, but is totally caught. Mary is so pulled together, and will continue to be a source of strength to all of them, as they take on all their new responsibilities. Thanks again for replying.
