Orchids have been valued for millenniums. Evidence suggests that the Chinese were growing them more than 4,000 years ago. On the other side of the world, Montezuma, who ruled what is now Mexico from 1502 to 1520, reportedly cultivated several species of orchids. However, it was not until the 1800’s that the quest for these plants increased dramatically.
In 1818 a man in England named William Cattley received a shipment of tropical plants from Brazil. In the packing material, he noticed plant parts that looked like roots. After planting them, he was delighted when they produced a beautiful purple bloom. This particular type of orchid is now known as the Cattleya.
During the 1800’s, it was a fashion of the rich to collect unique orchids. New specimens in particular could command an exorbitant price. By the turn of the century, however, the orchid craze had diminished. Then it resumed decades later when inexpensive methods of artificially propagating orchids were discovered. Now anyone could enjoy these exotic flowers!

I live in Oregon, a friend has orchids growing on trunk of a fur tree. It is wet and cold here in winter and very warm in summer. They have survived for years. They are hardy when treated right.
Почему дорогие? Орхидеи большие по 500р, маленькие ещё дешевле. Только их не так размножают, а просто клонируют в Нидерландах

It's really effective. My orchids that had been sitting for months without new shoots have come to life again after I used this method. New shoots come in less than a week. I'm looking forward to them going to Bloom

I see no one answered so I thought, I have an idea to find out. You might try googling it. Or call a company specializing in orchids.
They usually have supplies as well. Maybe they would carry them. You can probably send them the video clip so they can see it themselves. Well, good luck. I think you will have success in finding what you need. To be honest, its likely a normal sponge they found in Walmart. If you used a natural celluloid sponge with no chemicals, natural, you should be fine. You could always try that too.

Any sponge will do. They sell sponge sheets and you could cut them up and use . Use a new one though and wash well before using.
