  • I love Joe Barnard's leg design so I made my own: bps.space
    K-9 Landing Leg system is an open source landing leg system designed to soften impact at landing, and keep your vehicle upright. I have gotten numerous requests for these files, and after a lot of testing and redesign, it is finally out! The system is capable of withstanding impacts from 1-2 meters. Our tested data showed 25 feet or 7.62, but that's pushing it to the absolute limit. It deploys by any band around the leg being cut with nichrome wire. The deployment is controlled by the pyro output of your rockets flight computer. This system is designed to work with 3 inch air frames or mailing tubes. Hope you like it!

    As it goes for any of our open source systems, make sure to send us feedback and report issues about these landing legs. Many thanks to the whole community for all the help! 🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺

    do you think you can simulate spacex landings with solid thrusters?

    • @CanineDefenseTechnologies
      @CanineDefenseTechnologies  5 лет назад +1

      Hmmm maybe, maybe not. At least for the whole Canine Rocket Tech project, I think possibly, but in a while. I think it really is possible, though really hard. I do think with extremley precisely built solids, it can be done much more easily and lower a lot more work in the software side.

    How do they work???? Do they need some sort of electronic pusher or is it just gravity that pulls it down??? I’m so curious

    • @CanineDefenseTechnologies
      @CanineDefenseTechnologies  4 года назад

      They're deployed by locking pins which are pulled down via rubber bands. The rubber bands are constantly under tension thus being "spring loaded" in a way

    I think failure of landing is due to error in landing legs. So inscrease length and thickness of landing legs.

    • @CanineDefenseTechnologies

      Yes it takes time to open source things due to the amount of testing invilved. We aim to open source as much as we can including fligt computers and things. There are some thing like software, or sensitive 3d models that won't be open sourced due to legal issues, but like said before, we open source as much as possible 🐺🐺🐺🐺

    That's some really good things coming up ! Can you tell me what material is the rocket body made of ?

    • @CanineDefenseTechnologies
      @CanineDefenseTechnologies  5 лет назад +2

      Thank you so much! Yes the body of most of CRT's rockets use standard 3inch mailing tube due to low cost, easy to source, and durability. For future rockets, they'll utilize rocket tubing dur to lower mass. The reason we use mailing tube is mostly because we are still tetsing hardware, and it would cost too much to destroy rocket body tubing for every failure

      @@manz5945 Yes these are designed for 3 inch mailing tubes which cost less than 5 dollars each. 3 inch Rocket tubing is expensive.
