Might I suggest *Portulaca* for the color/hardiness/drought tolerance. Also, Consider using a Garlic infused water (in a spray bottle)on the Aphids.

Ooh! Good to know! I’ll have to look for it next time I go to the nursery 😁

ALL the narrowleaf milkweed that we sell at my work have those yellow aphids, and its only the narrowleaf milkweed, but they grow fine with the aphids. Also I love the Verbena lilacina 'De La Mina'! Have you noticed that the flowers are fragrant?

Try Ceanothus 'Yankee Point', it has fabulous dark green leaves and blue flowers. Also try Baccharis pilularis 'Twin Peaks' or 'Pigeon Point'. Theodore Payne is great! We sell a lot of plants from them where I work.

I will definitely try it! Thanks for the recommendations. The lilacina is fragrant….it’s pretty neat 😁
