Miller is 50+ year old, missing both of his legs (below the knee), who went across one of the most heavily irradiated cities in the world to get some maps, came back to get you and give you his shot of green stuff, went back to get kirill, fought an army of mutants (and if we're to believe kirill, was a dead eye while doing so), then drove half way out of novosibirk before passing out. All the while, buring from the inside out, weakened by old age, missing a good 10% of his body, and carrying a child part of the way. What an absolute unit. I salute you, Commander.
A little bit of "dushnilovka" (tediousness): “Melnik (Miller in English)” is an abbreviation of the Russian surname “Melnikov”. And accordingly, it would be more correct to call the colonel Melnik/Melnikov, and not the Anglicized version.
Fun fact: it was the dark ones who led artyom towards Anna's medicine and Miller to artyom. They can be seen for a couple of sections throughout the final mission. It was the dark ones' "gift" that made artyom hallucinate anna so he could see where to go.

I didn’t cry, but I teared up. Hearing Miller call Artyom son. Him giving him his shot of Green Stuff. Hearing everything he did with Kirill. His words of encouragement while dying. Seeing him slumped over while driving. The absolute bromance between Miller and Artyom this entire level. The stuff you went through, from D6 to Red Line to Novosibirsk. To finally lose consciousness and wake up and see him knocked out, you move him and he slumps over. Man this game is emotional as hell. Not to mention his speech he gives Artyom in the good ending. Hits hard man
The 19 dislikes are from people who mistakenly disliked while rubbing their eyes. A true masterpiece. Good job 4a Games, you made me cry for a game the first time. Goodbye commander.
If you've read the books (especially Metro 2035) and afterwards played the games (especially Metro Exodus), Metro Exodus can be considered (with a bit of filling in the blanks on your own) a sequel to Metro 2035 and, more precisely, Miller's redemption arc, which makes the Race Against Fate 1000% more emotional.
[SPOILERS] Getting the good ending on the first run had me almost in tears. Artyom just hits different from other silent protagonist. Especially when you experienced his stories as a newbie in the first games you can’t help but want the best for him. The drive out of the city was probably the most emotional part of the game. The relationships and friendships made; all those you wanted to keep. And seeing all your friends charge to you at the end did it for me. This game is a masterpiece.
That final moment of driving through the snow and the night, with the Moon guiding your path, and the innocent voice of Kirill encouraging me to ride on and fully knowing that Miller will leave me with that music, ugh, I don't know how to describe it. His love and will to save Ana againts hopelessness and despair, lead him to challenge and defeat death itself. It is one of the most emotional moments I have experienced in a video game.
I've never played a game that got me so emotional at the end. I drove that truck as fast as I could, glancing at Miller at times. Definitely cried. This is the greatest game of all time imo, with one hell of a soundtrack.
Did the same thing and even said out loud "c'mon on Miller...we're here" when the camera turned towards him just laying there, crying at the fact that I couldn't save him like he saved us, or even repay him for helping with the dark ones when the others wouldn't
You guys too? Man, it's so perfectly scored. And the kid's comments, while they could have been annoying, underscored the hope, the wonder remaining, of this cold world. That we hoped Artyom and Miller would enjoy.
This has to be one of the most emotional moments a game gave me. And there was no real action in it, just the beatiful music and great characters. One of the things that stuck out to me tho was when Kirill asked: "Is that the moon?" Thats when I realized that this kid has never seen the outside world Such an emotional ending

The Metro games made me love FPS again. I drifted away from the genre because of the amount of lame CODs and BFs out there, Metro showed me these games can have more soul than just mowing down AI in scenes trying to replicate blockbusters.
