    Love your vlogs. They are short but packed with different activities. Full of fun and action. Not just painting or pointing one wall for 20 minutes or talking about "what we are going to do", then long talk about "what we are doing", finishing with "what we have done". Some vloggers but not you. Never get tired of you guys. Can not wait for more. Thank you for such pleasure.

      If they have or the chateau had a library ...this would be great in a library. It looks more masculine. I think she wants to keep the salon light and airy ...but I do agree that the gold in the rug does not look bad with the more stately but gold furniture.

    As nice as the rug is , l personally would prefer not to cover the floor at all and rather see the lovely wood instead. It's always lovely to see the progress you are both making in bringing the chateau back to life. With out a doubt your the right people to do it.

      @wandakoehorst8734 Год назад +1

      The bigger the rug, the warmer the room. But I agree with you that that would hide the magnificent parquet floor. But sunlight darkens the wood. This would mean that under the rug it would stay lighter. Difficult choice for Carole & Adrian

    • @jomeyer13
      @jomeyer13 Год назад +1

      rugs add a brain thought type warmth to a room. but some of the intended time period give such a 'buzy' look.

  • @lorahart56
    @lorahart56 Год назад +31

    You need something dark/visually heavy to anchor the room. That rug is great. Once you place the furniture on it, you'll never be distracted by it. And it gives you a secondary color for contrast that you can bring in with accessories, small cushions, or side chair upholstery. it's a little too one note samba color-wise. Too much of the same tone tends to all blend together so you don't notice the highlights/details. Can't wait to see the floor finished and the furniture placed.

    • @pmm3112
      @pmm3112 Год назад +4

      It’s called a monochromatic color scheme. It’s tastefully executed and is a significant trend for period rooms of the era. #whitedrawingroombuckinghampalace
      Gold and Champagne are a Rich blend of tones and the finishes shimmer and change with the lighting. A POW contrast can be accomplished when the room is completely finished and Carole has had a chance to live with it first for a while the way it is now! I like it and appreciate her vision for it. The gold rug was nice except the Black in it was too much for the delicate details of the Grand Salon.

  • @alwayslernin4400
    @alwayslernin4400 Год назад +5

    At first I agreed with your choice about the rug but then I remembered the curtains. It might go great once they're up. I would recommend putting the curtains up before making a final decision on the rug. The floor is so beautiful it's such a shame to cover it at all.

    That floor, like Carole’s walls, is a work of art. When you placed the rug on it, I said “What?!” The parquet should be seen and enjoyed by all. How about several smaller, matching rugs in front of the furniture? Just my humble opinion, of course! You two have amazing instincts and skills, and it’s a joy to witness your collaboration!

    great job on the salon floor!! 🤩 will you sand, stain and varnish it? I hope when you watch this back and see from the angle of the fireplace, the rug looks fabulous! it ties in with a few of the darker elements in the room like the chandelier, sconces, floor lamp and metalwork on the doors.. it really gives it symmetry and a well thought out design plan!

    The parquet next to the windows must have been in an X shape,they weren't plain board, if u check old chateau from the 18th they had ornamental parquet leading to terrace or hallway. 2 Square of X SHAPED PARQUET ❎❎ should fit. The parquet is really amazing well done! And I agree with the rug decision,though rugs (tapis) were quite colourful with different patterns (animals/floral/ geometric) I doubt they used black....take your time for the rug, u will find one for sure. In France tapisserie murale were quite popular, I know its old fashioned for modern time but they were very popular back then. U guys have to find beautiful tableau de peintre for the walls.

When you rolled out the carpet I was sad to see Adrian’s beautiful floors covered up especially the diamond shapes in the parquet down the center of the room. But I know you need a carpet. What a superb room! The incredible amount of meticulous work done by both of you, is a true homage to your dedication and efforts. Congratulations! The furniture is amazing and perfectly matches the grandeur of the room. I have always gone with my gut feeling when buying things. Compromise is never an option. The rug will be loved at its new home. Thank you and good luck to you both.

    Carole I think both the dining room and the salon need some paintings.

    Wow! Looks fabulous - inside and out!! Ivy, the bane of every garden! Too bad you can't burn all that garden rubbish.

    👍👍👍👍👍 - Oh, what a relief, you are not putting that rug in the Salon. I do love it but not for this room. It doesn't give off the same mood as the rest of the Salon. It is a bit heavy when the rest of the room is so light. Even tho the parquet is perfect (for me), I trust you. I know you will find the correct rug for the Salon. Maybe a cream coloured one to make the furniture stand out, with the parquet as the border around the room. ??? 😁 I hope you get a chuckle out of my 2 cents worth.

    ?? Am I the only one that thinks the white room with the gold paint looks like every 'bridal' boutique across America.
