Then you have to think about Rochester and Buffalo and other smaller cities that's gonna be effected by NYC. It's terrible. It still cost a lot of money just to travel to NYC too. They doubled the prices trying to recoup the loses.

After living in California for 10 years during the late 90's/early 2000's, I started noticing some coworkers/friends moving to states like Florida and Texas because they are state income tax free. With advances in technology and me being in sales, I realized I too could work from anywhere in the country. I did my research, and did the math, and in 2004 I bought a home in Florida and made the move. I instantly gave myself a 12% raise in income. Not only that, I was able to buy a 6 bedroom home in St Petersburg for 278k , a bike ride away from the country's most beautiful white sand beaches. Looking back on this decision 16 years later, it was one of the smartest decisions I've made (and not only financially). I meet people here daily who did the exact same thing, moving away from state income tax states and they too are always happy they did. Now because of the pandemic, I have seen numerous New York license plates on the streets, and have talked to New Yorkers who have recently moved here. They say its a no brainer for various reasons. For all of you who have been contemplating this decision, now is the time to go for it. There are only 9 states that are income tax free. Do your research on which state fits your needs best. I chose St Pete Florida for its endless sunshine, white sand beaches, warm tropical water, fishing, nightlife, bike friendly streets etc. But if you do decide to move here, please bring a laid back attitude :)

I saw multiple time how a miserable 200-300K loan was rejected regardless of a good risk assessment and good securities , and a 5-10 MIL deal was signed without any issue, and without even asking me to do any analysis - even when the loan was far riskier and the Debitor did not offer any securities against the loan.
I was dealing with "small-ish" loans. Do you know what happens when a business Tycoon needs a loan of a half a billion? he does not even go through any process of those "normal people", he just calls the owner of the bank (the owner, not the manager) and he set him up with whatever - caring little to none about possible setbacks. this is how it works.

I'm from NYC and left 2 yrs ago moved to Texas which is a tax free state best decision I made. High taxes and cost and living in NYC isn't worth it at all your money don't stretch.

@@tonytanner3048 If they don't pay taxes, why is cuomo begging them to come back? A few thousand people in NYC pay 50% of the taxes. That's not an opinion, but a fact. The governor knows where the money's coming from and that's why he knows it's leaving and begging the wealthy to come back, but provides them no incentives. Why would they return to 8% income tax in New York vs 0% in Florida.
Just as an aside, where did you come up with the idea of the wealthy don't pay taxes? I hear this a lot from eternal W-2 earners, but I wonder where they get it from. The tax law is freely available online and even if you did a sample 1040 as if you made 10 mln in dividends, it would still not give you $0 dollars in taxes. So again, where did you get this idea from?

It’s a beautiful thing how we are independent thinkers during these times of extremely biased news networks. Independent YT channels (this channel included) have succeeded and we can understand the source of what’s happening rather than letting mainstream media brainwash us.
The reason why they left is because you pay more and more for less and less in return. Eventually you will lose the incentive to stay and continue your business. People weigh their cost and benefits.

I have a condo in Naples, Fl. It is cheap living here. My condo is worth about 180-190K, property taxes are $1,000/year. Utilities in winter are less than $50.00/month. In the summer when we are not here we run the refrigerator and A/C unit to control humidity, our electric bill is then about $20.00/month. Of course, there is no state income tax. We have quite a few east coast people usually from NY, NJ., and Penn. Many midwest people and a few Canadians.
I think what your friend was trying to say was if your used to building skyscrapers in NY- would you be doing that in a swamp?
