Bubbles Freezing in Slow Motion

- Slow motion video of bubbles freezing on a cold (16 °F / -9 °C) January 2017 morning in Arvada, Colorado.
While trying to photograph freezing bubbles, I recorded video of some of my attempts to create and place the bubbles. More often than not, the bubbles break right away. This video contains a few of the successful attempts.
I recorded the video at twice the playback rate resulting in half-speed slow motion. Because the bubbles freeze so quickly (usually under 30 seconds), I prefocused the camera and tried to place the bubbles in the same spot.

Once when I was like 8 or something I passed out and woke up in a mix of puke and blood from my nosebleed. Yeah, I was sick.
Never even thought of this happening to a bubble... The little snowflake patterns and the patterns that come up looking like ferns, that's really cool.

It has always surprised us to see how a bubble freezes. Obviously you can see how frost forms in soap bubbles in this variation but in some cases the bubble pops just before setting into the snow and ice. Always a pleasure.

For those wondering why the bubbles kept collapsing - the air inside the bubble was warm and when it cooled down the pressure inside the bubble dropped and the bubble imploded under the pressure of the atmosphere.

Incredibubble shots, love the comparison or the 6 fold symmetry and the fern like stretchers. Glorious detail.
It looks like little ferns growing in soft white skies. Like silver feathers floating down from birds perched upon trees or flying high. Large crystal forests growing from the ground up. Large snowflakes making a bigger snowflake.
Truly fantastic how one's imagination and flow like a pen on paper over one simple video of a bubble freezing in slow-motion.

I like how it looks like stars are coming together trying to reach the ground,but then trees are also trying to get up from the ground and reach the stars.And when they finally meet,the frozen bubble that's containing it all,breaks as if it's a metaphor for the apocalipse.
But it also looks like a cute snowglobe,or a nice staff sphere (you know,those spheres at the end of those magical staffs that wizards use) :D
