Good video brother. Also, not sure if you've had the chance. Take a trip to Nati. Check out Queensgate. It's freakin awesome! Also, if you go or have gone? Next time go eat at the Incline Public House. It's on the western hills overlooking downtown Cincinnati in Price Hill. Great views of ALL the rails all over downtown. You get views of Queensgate, the bridges over the Ohio River and all the trackage in and out of the south side of Queensgate.
Contrary to the headline, no one "messed up" here. This was all planned and carefully executed by the dispatcher and crews. It's called "doubling the siding." BTW, only 2 trains are involved here, not 3. Only looks like three.
Lol.. I was engineer on the rear (East) engines of Wheeling 93. I remember that day! It was funny. our conductor didn't update the length with Toledo dispatcher. M8A barely fit.
perhaps a glib solution on my part born of ignorance so forgive me in advance and let me say I have full respect for you guys but isnt there a simple RF reader that can do a calculation based on where the trainmaster is directing it to go? i.e. "error code 101- train to long for siding" or some such, I surely have been guilty of over-simplifying things before, hope I get a chance to see the horseshoe curve before fall hits hard, cheers !
Robert Kerr we have scanners but there are variables. Our previous mark up showed us shorter. my conductor was supposed to update that info with dispatcher but failed to.
Reminds me of 1 train watching experience I had in Streator, Illinois. 5 trains on 1 double track main(BNSF). BNSF, UP, KCS, CSX, NS, & CN all represented. Plus various lease units like CREX. Also lots of DPUs.
Larry Parsons was the EVP of Operations of the SP/SSW/D&RGW, right before the UP merger. He was also friends with Phil Anschutz. Probably where he got his inspiration the D&RGW paint scheme on the WLE locomotives. Looks like the WLE got by the signal and fouled the switch. We used to call this a "corn field meet."
Just a quick English lesson here, it isn't WOULD OF loved to hear the chatter, it is WOULD HAVE or WOULD'VE loved to hear the chatter, here endeth the lesson.
Even 2 trains, both being too long for the siding, can pass each other on that same too short siding, with a little extra kicking of cars back and forth. May even be the only solution on a busy congested line. Fairly standard procedure these days, when still more goods needs to be hauled after the big crisis has gone.
@@NS8010 You want to talk about inception. Many years ago, when SP was still a railroad, I had befriended several crew members who worked a local train at night in the east of Metro Phoenix. As a budding model railroader at the time, I had made a model of SP 7120, an MK rebuilt GP40 (GP40M-2 they called it). I had taken this with me to show the crew, and was actually invited into the cab of the locomotive to show the engineer. What I didn't realize at that instant was the unit I was in the cab of ... was SP 7120.
Man, that part where the UP and WLE units are in the same shot... Rio Grande inspired paint scheme meeting UP. Like I said on messenger, that looks like it should be out west in Colorado. But it's Ohio! :D Super neat video Spencer!
You should see it when the Port Road dispatcher and the Amtrak Ctec section 3 get messed up! We've had 9 trains jamed up in a stand off for HOURS! LOL!
Watched this first of your many videos, And just subscribed! Fantastic shots, Very well produced! Keep up the great work and I am going to sit here and watch all of your videos tonight! P.S. Those phone screen breakages Suck! I just replaced mine for the second time.
Union Pacific train dispatchers don't know the lenght of the trains they dispatch or the length of their sidings--- they would have to open a timetable or look at a consist
I am surprised the Union Pacific doesn't have computer assisted train dispatches where the computer will help the train dispatcher. The train dispatcher can still override the computer
@@thomasklimchuk441 They do. They switch it on and go eat lunch or go have a smoke. Instead of looking up how long a train is or lookingn at a timetable to see how long a sidetrack is they ask the conductor on the radio. Nobody likes doing work for a dispatcher. UP has an emergency system, if you derail or hit a car you dial 911 on the keypad of the radio. Supposedly everything stops in Omaha till the trouble is settled. I hhit a car once and it took 45 minutes for the dispatcher to respond. Having a smoke or a sammich. Train crews don't think of dispatchers as human beings, just heartless disembodied voices on a radio. They don't have feelings or feel pain like you and me.
+Union Pacific 1982 Thanks! They are sharp! This line rarely sees WB movements like the WLE train and the next siding up the line about 10mi or less is 10,000ft long. More than enough. So, there are usually no problems.
Hey what you caught was gold anyway! I bet somebody had some explaining to do that day. Delays cause cascades was this part of a cascade event or just a plain old ordinary cluster funk. If its a cascade the dispatcher's head stays if not well heads do roll....
i know exactly where that is..thats Fremont Rec center in the starting shot then as it pans thats grace community church. I hail from fremont..was wondering what all the commotion was that day...3 trains meet at the bottleneck of smith rd near 198.
Wayne Alan I actually learned the term from listening to sim web(Casey jones fireman that jumped) interview lol my dad was also a 39 year locomotive engineer.
I was going to have lunch with my Aunt. Had to cross the track in the train yard. And I was watching these two train coming. And low and behold they were on the same track. I wave the closest one and point out that the other train was on the same track. It was a very close call. They came to a stop just over a yard away from each other.
It would only be dicey if both trains were too long for the siding. There is a way to resolve that called a "saw-by", but PTC probably doesn't know how to do that
Hey NW Ohio Trains. I am a railfan in Ohio too. What part of Ohio do you film at? I film in northern Ohio around Cleveland! Maybe we will bump into each other somewhere.
I just love the fact that U.S trains still have that romantic Steam days ethos about them. Makes our U.K ones seem bland and merely functional by comparison.
Preview of coming CSX attractions with EHH ruining, er running the show: single-track,. slow orders, centralized dispatching all to feed more cash to Mr. Harrison.

NW Ohio Trains how is it cancer?? I like the video
lmfao

stop buying iPhones
Niepi he didn't. He just accidentally

that's what she said.
Is that a regular thing ?
Manned helpers on the rear ?
From Bellevue to CN Lang Yard I presume ?
yes. power on both ends every trip. Makes spinning the train in Bellevue faster. Helps with heavier trains too.

"life tip. never be in a rush" -NW Ohio Trains 2016
Well, that Certainly Caused Confussion And delay That day .
TRAIN SHIPS haha! TTE reference
Perfect Comment 😂
yup

Worth watching just to hear the great sound from the Dash-2. Nothing better than a turbocharged 645.
Would of loved to hear the chatter on the rail frequency on that screwup
Just a quick English lesson here, it isn't WOULD OF loved to hear the chatter, it is WOULD HAVE or WOULD'VE loved to hear the chatter, here endeth the lesson.
thank's!
@Dough Borret It's a dirty job but someone has to do it!
Denis Berger someone would have said something profane😊
Denis Berger yea
“Someone fucked up. The Lake Erie is on our track. Get some dude down here”
*UP flips its shit*
Great catch!!
it just takes a little see-saw maneuver thats all, happens more than you would think
If I remember, that type of manuever used to be called a "saw-by" and would have saved John Luther Jones himself if not for a broken air hose.

Talk about unusual! Cool that you got to film it, also neat that UP 5555 was leading!
+Norfolk Southern ES44AC yes sir, it was. And i didn't notice the number until I watched the video back. Pretty neat! Thanks!

They should relay the original LS&MS main line through here. There's still room for it. The track was still there until about 1980.
I love the sound of trains in the morning
Awesome catch! Cool number on the UP AC4400CW too.
+Middle Georgia Railfan yes sir, thank you!
Wow ! You got tons and tons of trainz !
Man, that part where the UP and WLE units are in the same shot... Rio Grande inspired paint scheme meeting UP. Like I said on messenger, that looks like it should be out west in Colorado. But it's Ohio! :D
Super neat video Spencer!
+Railfan Jason Thanks dude. Only in Ohio can such a thing happen :P I love this state.
And i do to. Man Ohio is a HEARTLAND for trains!
Rail Gamer Productions you bet I see trains and crossings every where I go
it's also why I live in that state
They once shoved 5 trains onto 4 tracks... The trains all went boom
life tip get a otterbox
I was gonna say that also XD lol
Hunt Gaming/Productions nope. Lifeproof
is better. u can drop it in a puddle and dry it off. but don't drop it in a pool xD
Make that an otter box and a scanner. Bet that dispatcher was fit to be tied!
Hunt Gaming/Productions Not being in a rush is ideal though.
You should see it when the Port Road dispatcher and the Amtrak Ctec section 3 get messed up! We've had 9 trains jamed up in a stand off for HOURS! LOL!
life tip, don't drop your phone.
+adam - life tip, fuck yourself!
Justin Case
Nice. Maybe you should take your own advice.
+adam miller - i do whenever i get free time. have you tried it yet? you'll feel better.
I railfan in Toledo Ohio since it’s my hometown for 14 years
Wow! What a sharp picture and fine composition! I am impressed.
Watched this first of your many videos, And just subscribed! Fantastic shots, Very well produced!
Keep up the great work and I am going to sit here and watch all of your videos tonight!
P.S. Those phone screen breakages Suck! I just replaced mine for the second time.
Thanks a ton, man! I really appreciate it!
You've got some mighty, mean looking train locomotives in the U.S.
I hate to say it, but this is what happens when a train supervisor slips up. You can't have two trains staring at each other's noses.
Nice video! I actually used to live in Bradner, OH in Wood County about a quarter mile from the CSX Pemberville Sub
What a way to run a railroad. Good job they aren't trying to run 36 trains an hour in both directions.
BEST INTRO EVER?! Short and gets the blood pumping .... u have my sub
Awesome Video Spencer..You do a great job.The colors are awesome along with sounds.
Thanks greatly, I do appreciate it.

Nice video & catches!! I like those WLE SD40-2's, I think they should add more sidings along that line.
+Union Pacific 1982 Thanks! They are sharp! This line rarely sees WB movements like the WLE train and the next siding up the line about 10mi or less is 10,000ft long. More than enough. So, there are usually no problems.
Nice colorful head end. enjoy your. Videos.
Great catch. I have always wondered how this type of situation would be handled.
life tip: don't be clumsy while in a rush
+projectBOOM - life tip: go fuck yourself hard!
+twink - life tip: fuck off!
Man that was crazy! Great work regardless Spencer!!!
Ooops! That was a hella cool catch dude. Bet you don't see that happen alot. Sucks bout your phone bro.
Hey what you caught was gold anyway! I bet somebody had some explaining to do that day. Delays cause cascades was this part of a cascade event or just a plain old ordinary cluster funk. If its a cascade the dispatcher's head stays if not well heads do roll....
Nice video, always nice to catch UP power on NS trains, I also subbed to you
i know exactly where that is..thats Fremont Rec center in the starting shot then as it pans thats grace community church. I hail from fremont..was wondering what all the commotion was that day...3 trains meet at the bottleneck of smith rd near 198.
This is certainly a freight line and not a passenger line.
Wayne Alan almost the same senerio Casey jones was killed in. This is what they call sawing threw.
Yep sure is. It's been a long long time since I've heard that phrase, and you're right.
Wayne Alan I actually learned the term from listening to sim web(Casey jones fireman that jumped) interview lol my dad was also a 39 year locomotive engineer.
Been years since I retired so been away from the lingo. Was in the Transportation industry for 37 year, 17 in Rail.
What rush were you in that broke your phone?
three trains, two tracks, will anything be totaled? TUNE IN AND FIND OUT ON THREE VS TWO
Great video! Love your channel!
You were right.. lots of action here.
Actually it's single track with a controlled siding.
in the words of the great basketball coach John Wooden " be quick but don't hurry "
Great job on the vid. Why couldn't you stay for the Wheeling train to pass throught? Someone waving you out?
The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954.
How have I never noticed the double track section there??
It's the 4/5th UP, nice catch
Wow 2 trains on the same track facing each other, you don't see that everyday.
I was going to have lunch with my Aunt. Had to cross the track in the train yard. And I was watching these two train coming. And low and behold they were on the same track. I wave the closest one and point out that the other train was on the same track. It was a very close call. They came to a stop just over a yard away from each other.
Rosemary Armitage bs
Rosemary Armitage wow
I smell a little Bullshit
It would only be dicey if both trains were too long for the siding. There is a way to resolve that called a "saw-by", but PTC probably doesn't know how to do that
Thats why i always get a phone case with screen protection and always keep it on my phone that way screen doesnt shatters when i drop it
Awesome stuff! Sorry about your phone lol
+KCStrainiac LMAO yeah... Thanks!
Nice video, great catch!
Hey NW Ohio Trains. I am a railfan in Ohio too. What part of Ohio do you film at? I film in northern Ohio around Cleveland! Maybe we will bump into each other somewhere.
Great rail therapy...I like IT!!!!
What was the third train? I saw the back tanker on the train but what was the company that was running that train?
Is that a nice long multi-use path paralleling the tracks?
I just love the fact that U.S trains still have that romantic Steam days ethos about them. Makes our U.K ones seem bland and merely functional by comparison.
ok apparently there must have been a communication problem here.right?
I wish I could've listened to the conversation on the airwaves for that situation
You go ahead, you go ahead. No you go first. NOO, YOU GO FIRST
Nice Job on UP5555 I like same number Units
Thats what i love about the States their Railroad Networks and Companies and Their Monster Trains ❤
Wow epic catch!
Thanks!!
Dang, he literally must have been about 2 or 3 car lengths too long
How the hell did this happen. Two trains on the same track
awesome intro!!
That was a very good life tip honestly
1:01 what website did you use to make that locomotive?
Did the Lake Eries train just run a red
somebody got called into the bosses office
Love your intro
North going Zax meets south going Zax.
Alan Page ah yes, the sneetches
When is the next layout update?
Good catch, too bad they did not get to do a saw tooth pass, that would have been a sight too see.
Quality Intro.
I can agree whole heartedly on that one.
lemme just see if i can squeeze by on the right here....
ok apparently there was some sort of misscommunication with the dispatcher.
Life tip, get a better protective cover and gorilla glass.
CenturyOakWindStar 34
+Century - life tip, go fuck yourself
+Justin Case: life tip: go away!

Trains For Life • how did they resolve that one?
UP5555 is an AC4400CW
Preview of coming CSX attractions with EHH ruining, er running the show: single-track,. slow orders, centralized dispatching all to feed more cash to Mr. Harrison.
RIP Screen
Someone miss a signal?
The WLE has a great logo
Union Pacific:what the heck!?😡
Great job!
So...you ran so fast your phone broke?
The video says 3 trains 2 tracks when it should be 2 trains 1 track
You don't see this every day!
the nearest yard master is at fault for the hold up.
Theres nothing here RUclips took the video down
