- Explaining some of the more complicated jargon regarding getting a tier 8 courser. When I first started this whole process, I read so much conflicting information. It was really hard to figure out what the heck to do. This is how I went about it.

ye x.x this is grim, My female Tier 5 learned so much nice skills that are needed for courser just randomly from levelling while my T8 did not. And my T8 has the brand lol RNG is killing me =_=
No grief here, just awe and appreciation. As much as I enjoy the grind, I hate the RNG; I'd rather it take longer but be guaranteed. So I think I'll content myself to just wait and buy one, if it should ever become available on the market. Happywallad if you have a 5 frame per second reaction time than you might just be able to see one on the market before it get bought by 300+ bots refreshing every frame and buying every t8 horse over 160mil

Haha! Yeah that would be do it over and over and over again until you get lucky. I've not been using brands lately because I'm sick of buying them and I still can't manage it without skill changes.

the chances of getting a corsair without f3 i think are about the same as getting PEN with 50 fs

I feel like this is misleading as the forechop method is actually to use a coupon every level once you have forechop, caution, and hind kick. So once you gain a level you swap forechop for a skill. When you learn forechop back again later you swap it out again. You get more skills by the time you’re 30 and better use of your coupons. What you’re doing in the video seems to waste a lot of coupons as you’re just trading easy to learn skills back and forth a lot.

I just have to add this, about the branding. I got my T8 male from breeding and thought "Hey, lets try branding it". I barely learned any skills up to about lvl 10. Then booom. Got all the good skills up to lvl 20. Its 21 atm and i only need sprint and S:Sidaways for courser. Can't wait :D And thanks for the tip about the branding ;)
Thanks for the info! Good to know as much as we can. I've had mixed results with branding myself, but I feel it's always important to get that horse to 30 because the more skills the more likely they can get courser and I've learned a new skill even going from 29-30.
No problem! And yea definitely :) I was gonna add that, i tried that tip aswell with rerolling the skills. I tried to atleast get rid of forechop and hind kick. Those seem easy to get when you train. BUT, im uncertain if you can actually get a skill twice from leveling up (different levels ofc). But you know, if you get sprint in lvl 3. If you can get it again at lvl 12 if you reroll it? :o
Ok so if you reroll forechop and get another skill it will go back into the bank of skills you can learn. Forechop seems to be a very easy to learn skill, and so that is why most people theorize it's best to reroll that particular skill, but only if you have the other 2 easy to learn skills too - caution and hind kick. That way it's likely you'll get something else that's not so easy to learn. At least that's how I understand it and it works for me.
You can't get a skill twice though unless you have let's say learned it..rerolled it..lost it and got a new skill..and then later on you either learn it from leveling or get it again from a reroll. So if you have sprint already, you won't get it again. But if you have sprint, you shouldn't ever be getting rid of it..therefore you'd never get it again on the same horse! Yay horse talk ^_^ What would I do without you guys? :)

Thanks a lot for this video! I must admit though, all i could compare this to was someone playing the pokies which i'm not interested in and while enhancing is lengthy it is free and based off resources. Very happy you got what you are after though and ty for the information :D

It's been 5 years but this video saved my ass, because I have a t8 at level 25 and he's still missing two skills and that was totally sending me into anxiety, but thanks to your advice I'll sleep peaceful dreams (not my wallet probably 😂)
Well the thing with the Computer, I wouldn't blame it on the game, just on your Computer:) I just brought myself a brand new Computer only for black desert! You really need to have a good Computer to run the game. I have a T8 Pure White, the fastest horse in the game and I never had any problems with that😊 Anyways, great video!👍
Yeah I'm working on some pure whites now. I ended up with a lot of 8Ds, but am finally getting some luck with 8As..and even got one of the super white tier 7s..so this next round I'm hoping for a pure white or two ;) Sigh ..need new computer..it was a good cpmputer..like really good when I got it, but I have had it for awhile now x_X
I think the pure blacks are faster cuz u barely spend any time drifting and the accel is insane, I have one myself but correct me if I'm wrong. Also what does speed affect on the horse? like the distance travelled per insta accel or something?

I have a beast of a computer and I will definitely blame the game. I was riding along with my guild master and at high speeds you will constantly fall through the ground, textures not loading in, freezes and teleports etc.
Very interesting Video, but I still have the same question I started with.
In the Loyalty Shop, there's a special "Skill Removal" coupon, which *removes one of your horse skills* (doesn't relearn). The leveling of a horse though, if affected by the current amount of skills it currently has. A level 20 T7 Horse with 6 Skills has more chances of learning something new than a level 20 T7 Horse with 8 Skills. So, theoretically, removing some skills while leveling, such as Roar or Quick Back, increases the chances of learning new skills in the process (such as the same ones you forgot, if you're unlucky as hell).
So, my question is how to use these coupons in an optimal way, to raise your chances of getting a Courser even further.
I liked your insight in the 3 Demonic Skills that keep coming back, and I wonder if it would work in the same way.
PS.: I Know, confusing as hell, but hey, I'm not a native English speaker, which makes a little harder to pass my point. Hope you understood it though :(
No I catch your drift (no pun intended). So basically, I haven't used those coupons at all because it seemed to the defeat the point. It feels for the most part that the more skills you have the more likely you'll learn what you need for courser. I don't know if deleting skills - especially skills that will likely just come back, is useful. I have had horses become coursers at 15 skills, but it always felt like the more they learned the more likely they'd learn a skill that I wouldn't have to use a skill change coupon in order to get later, ya know? Like a horse with 18 skills by default is not going to have much to learn versus a horse with 12 skills that might need to learn everything. So the more skills the better. I can't fathom how deleting ANY skills would be useful. It feels like a trick they put in to make you think you were getting the same thing for "free" but in reality it's useless. Maybe others have found some way to use it, but I haven't figured out a way to.

Train the drift skill if you use that skill it resets the cooldown on instant accel and s instant accel

Bruh, shes a Courser trainer, like she said, she has almost all the horse knowledge... i think she might have discovered the animation reset with the horse levels xD
I'm not a fan of bdo players who think they know everything there is to know. There is a lot of players like this in bdo. I started playing 2 weeks ago and I'm already starting to teach them a thing or 2.

That lag, my laptop use to do that, soon as i got a full PC it never did that now matter how fast the horse ran with all graphics turned up to the highest. Watching this reminded me how much of an issue horse riding was back then lol
Mine is at level 20 and didn't learn Sprint and Instant Accel. I did use the Brand now maybe to Lear one of them. Fingers Crossed.
Horse Branding Stones don't exist on Consoles but I also hear that they don't make that much of a difference anyway
If you use an Appearance Coupon, do the horse's stats change to those of the new horse?
It's not that the game can't keep up with it. It's your PC that can't keep up rendering the draw distance.
Thank you for making this video it's very informative! I am right now leveling my very first t8 horse which took me almost two years to get (I'm not kidding I have very cruel RNG) x___x I have the palamino one that you used here and branded at lvl 1and learnt most of his skills from lvl 1 to 9 and surprisingly he got most of the good ones such as sprint, drift and instant accel. Thugh he's now at lvl 20 and only know 11 skills so far and he hasn't even learnt all the crap skills yet, I'm scared he will become a "dud" what do you think?
Hey thanks a lot! You guys are so kind to me! Sorry about the bad luck too - I think he's got a chance tho..so long as its lvl 30 with 15 skills it's still doable - and you can use skill change coupons for the tough skills which to me are always S:IA and S:special Move. The others are very easy to learn and you can usually get them with 1 coupon if you need them still.

And yeah I hope he will in the end at least have 15 skills I just wish he will learn s:instant accel his speed doesn't seem well stat wise so yeah xD yes there's always skill change coupons though if it will be too expensive I probably won't do it, I've heard from some people online on forums that it cost for them like 100 euro for them to make thier horses a courser Dx I do have 2 change coupons and one premium appearance change coupons I will use on him once he is lvl 25+ :)
I wrote up this big response and accidentally deleted it..UGH! Anyway use the forechop method while leveling so that your horse has a better chance to learn more skills. I have it listed on my advanced video..
Also those skill change coupons are on sale now for like 11 for 2000 pearls. Think it's ending tonight or tomorrow. The most I think I ever needed were 23 for a skill - it was S:Sideways move. Since then, I've noticed that the skills are learned much easier though. Like around 8-12 hopestacks instead. I think they may have adjusted what you need to get those skills..but I haven't seen an official patch note on it. It just feels much easier now. I tend to only do it any more though if they're very close to getting it like one skill off..or an easy skill off. If the horse already has one of the S skills, I find that good incentive too! Couple questions, branding is a good way to attempt to get a courser, but cant be sold off afterward correct? Also, will an appearance change/premium - affect the end result in breeding?
It can be a good way, but it's not always guaranteed. If you're going to do it I'd say consider the benefits of like cheaper recovery/revival as well and make sure you're ok with the idea that you may get a few extra skills, you may get a ton. The majority of the horses I used it on - I thought it was worth it, but there was a dud that learned barely anything. You can still sell them when branded(although I don't know why you'd want to). The appearance change won't affect anything in regards to breeding outcomes. Hope it helps.
Too late but if you still havnt bought a new computer, you dont need to, that issue with the horse stopping is because your disk cannot supply the data to the game as fast as required because your horse moves too fast, can be fixed with just upgrading your SSD to a higher read speed one or the ones which go into your PCI slot.

I have the same invisible walls on my tier 5 horse. It is either your internet connection or pc that causes it I am sure. I am in Australia and put the problem down to the connection as my pc is a pretty good one.
Yeah my pc isn't bad for sure, but it's getting older. I know there are a lot of times where there's wifi interference here so that's a possibility.It only really happens when I use the accel and am going super fast.
It's either not enough ram and slow hard drive, delaying the loading textures for the next area you are coming in to, or it is a slow internet conncetion. My lap top, with an SSD drive, 32 gb ram and gxt 1080 video card will stutter like this when I am staying in motels with poor wifi signal. At home, it is fine.
I have 12 gigs of ram. My C drive is an older one, so not as fast, but the E drive all of my games are on is a newer, faster drive. Who knows how that works when Windows is on the C drive though. My comp is getting old as heck by now...motherboard needs replaced with a new processor and go from there rebuilding it.
Mmogurl are both of your drives rotating platter drives? Even good ones only move 150 mb/sec. A good solid state drive using the regular hard drive bay and a sata cable will move 450-500 mb/sec. That is the setup I had before and it never stuttered. Then I moved to a Samsung 960 pro SSD in the M.2 form factor that needs an adapter card and physically attaches to the motherboard in a pci slot. Those move 2 gb/sec! The problem is that an older motherboard likely won’t be able to boot from an M.2 drive. An older pc will be able to boot from a sata SSD though. If you don’t have an SSD drive, that may revive your computer enough to give you completely smooth game play.
I just grinded for 8mil silver and bought a t8 courser off the market and I love him!! :D This is a great video guide but honestly I think it is better to grind for the silver in game, you save a lot of real life money that way. Gonna try my best to turn him into a dream horse, I can't decide between doom and pegasus.
Btw t8 courses sell for like 700mil u probs bought a shitty t8
I'd get an SSD to avoid the stutter when you travel fast.
SSD has nothing to do with game performance except when launching an application. You might be referring to graphics cards

A lot of the textures live on your drive (SSD/HDD) since your Video Ram (GPU Memory) can not store *everything* on it.
So when you travel across a huge amount of distance the textures stored in your GPU are no longer relevant - you need to load the new location/zone graphics assets from your hard drive and have your GPU build/render them for you.
That's why people see a *Freeze* sometimes when traveling over vast distances and especially when changing biomes - all of the textures and assets need to be loaded from your drive and if it's slow - it becomes the bottle neck.
You can honestly test the difference by placing the game on a slow 7200 or 5400 drive and an SSD.
Regarding frame-rate and general performance - yes the CPU and GPU are important for sure but in an open world no-loading screens type of game like BDO the big freezes he gets when traveling are purely the drive failing to feed the new textures quick enough.
@@Astor4o I run BDO from an SSD and I get this happening when I'm going quickly. For me I think it's a GPU rendering issue. It could be that both can act as a choke point with similar results?
Don't gamble your hard-earned money people. Paying for a "chance" is no different to gambling. If you're gonna spend, spend on something you want that is guaranteed. But I'm not your dad do what you want.

Great Video, I will try to get my first T8 Courser using your tips. But I have a question, Is it ok to use the coupon when you have the 3 'easy skills' in early levels or you recommend to wait 25 to start doing the method?
i have a tier 8 level 3 female with 3 skills already(hind kick, instant accel, and quick ride). is it too late to brand? dont know if branding works better in the long run if you do it at level 1?
Is there any point in keeping a male and a female t7 courser (0 breeding and can't use reset stone)?

for s. sideways a while back it took me 75 FS for my horse to hit it

I own 6 T8s. 1 still needs to be leveled and 1 just hit level 30.
Both of these came from "exchange" so I had no idea what I was getting. I called them SnakeEyes & Luck.
SnakeEyes is still in need to be leveled. Luck just hit level 30, and well... Let's just say his name suits him Purrfectly no arguments! I think all 3 28, 29, and 30 had each given a skill. (29 and 30 for sure)
I was already excited when saw it hit 15 skills then was like bummer 3 skills to being a courser but also was like well he is still leveling so let's just see what happens to Luck here.
Hits 30, and has 17 skills, and ONLY needed a single skill being S sidemove.
So decided to do what I kinda didn't wanna but the horse was 1 skill away. Swiped, used 1 appearance + skill and got lucky got an 18th. Sadly I of course didn't get the skill I had hoped for. I had used total 10 tokens but 1 I had used that I already had for awhile. Took me 9 tries after had 18 skills and only 2 to gamble with. It was a pain, but I guess about $30 is better than trying to breed 100s to get a couple T8s and.... possibly no Courser.
Anyways... I have myself an amazing horse. Only skills Luck doesn't have are Caution & Quick Back, I introduce you Luck the T8 8B
Haha! The horse was certainly lucky! That's what my Kratos is like moslty, although he gave me a bunch of trouble with one skill, but he's the only one that ended up with 18 skills out of my brood. I'm still waiting on a pure white, but haven't been playing lately. I got really sick of the grind with farming for the t9 awakening X_X
bleh I'm worried about how many tries it could take me before mine awakens. I'm currently breeding Luck with another mare. Both are 8B which carry 4 white each. I've got a tiny chance and will reset that mare's breeding. When it's a t8 mare it's more than worth resetting.
I've been catching, leveling, breeding, and w/e for prob year or so idk how long I've been back on BDO since the time I were gone awhile. :P
Anyways ye Luck I just feel is so lucky who knows if even my first attempt he carries his name like he was BORN to be but ugh idk took quite some tries to get that one skill that I needed XD
just glad he's got nothing but good skills. Only doesn't have quick back and caution. Which aren't that as big of a deal. Anyways while waiting on this struggle if I do ever get a Dream horse... I've AT LEAST got an amazing horse ^_^

naw I never assumed that myself but have wondered if the chances decrease and by how much per level. I've realized less often after idk mid 20s or so maybe sooner sometimes. But 28+ seems to not really give a chance. But Luck got one at 29 and 30 for sure. 28 I forget or if was sooner. :P I was AFK runnin and for hours at a time before I check again. I leave them running practically 24/7 unless playing archeage and it's lagging me or need to be on 2 clients XD heheh
regardless every single tier starts with a skill. each type Example A1 B1, A5 C5 all horses of types have their OWN starter skill. If you pair 1 courser in breeding it's 50% if 2 courser it's 100%.
It's been awhile since I delved into the "underworld" of horse breeding on reddit and forums and such..but from what I remember, people were pretty much in agreement that horses couldn't learn skills after 30..but there's nothing saying they can't learn one from 29-30. I've never bothered trying past 30. From what it feels like, it gets harder the higher level they are, but it's not impossible. I've had horses learn skills at that 28-30 point, but it's just rng.

So, since the 19fs disappeared, one can assume that it does work like gear fs? Curious as to if you changed the hope skill to another if those fs carried over to that skill.
Yeah the "hope stacks" can switch to any skill you want whenever you want. But once you learn the skill you're hoping for on any given try, they disappear.
Mostly see comments about pc being too bad but its actually on hdd side, ssd will keep up most of the time. Or you are playing with potato and missing those graphics
Hello! Im new to BDO and your video helped a BUNCH and I couldnt help but notice Kratos is a gorgeous horse and If I had a T8 I would want that "breed". But I cant figure out what he is, using the Horse Calculator guide it shows there are 5 possibilities for a T8 (8A-8E) and Kratos does not look like any of them. What is he?

How many skills in your opinion does a horse need at lvl 30 to gamble around with the coupons in order to get a courser? You said 15 is bad and 17 not bad, what about 16?
Any horse without 16 skills at lv 30 is virtually money sink and worth not picking up form the market if you are taking any chances with the cash shop. I bought a horse for 2.3 mil that is one skill away from courser and succeeded with two tickets. Then the two-seater skill took 22 of them.
Sitting here on a lvl 1 pure white t8 scared of it walking a single step out of stable now...
Hello I had a question for you. I have T7 cor with IA, sprint and drift but breeding is up. If I reset breeding will offspring have higher chance of being better foul??

Mine's been doing better lately..I stopped running so much stuff in the background. My friend's comp is soo bad tho..when they ride with me, they sometimes fall through the world until the comp catches up to where I am LOL.
Hi Hmogurl. I have a level 30 T8 with 3/15 skill who she has 3 of the courser skills with just Drift, Sideways, S:IA, and 2seater to learn, do i have a chance? (Bought in HM) also, do you think the PHACC still works at level 30?
When do you give up on horses youre leveling? Im leveling my t8 and its lvl 26 with 13 skills. I rly dont see a point in leveling it further before eventually selling it
I've gotten courser with 13 skills before, but it was lucky. I have also had horses learn a skill when they hit 30 so it's not as common as they get higher level, but does happen. It's up to you, but I'd probably only give up on a horse if it was a complete dud and had 8 skills by 20.

The reason the game cant keep up with the horse is because of loading issues. You probably have a Hard Drive Disk (HDD) which loads up slower than a Solid State Drive (SSD). Had the same problem until I swapped to a SSD and the game overall loads way faster. :D

Mmogurl Amd new CPUs are really good for the money. Everything else is just so damn expensive. I feel bad for people building PC atm. If you can hold off till end of year and maybe see if stuff drops for black Friday or cyber Monday. Intel also going ro be releasing even newer CPUs as well later in year. The only thing I can say is current tech will be able to play stuff for a while.

I have a question about the brand stone, is it permanent or only temporary? got my first t8 and used it on lvl 1, it learned one skill each lvl until level 7, then it leveled up to 17 without learning any. Is it just super bad luck? didn't even got Sprint so far I'm hating this bastard.
Brand stone is permanent. I've found that brand stones tend to work either really well, or sometimes you just get totally shafted and get shit luck. For a cash shop item..it should always work really well >_>
Yeah it ended with 13 skills on lvl 30, I guess it just wasn't a good one to begin with. So I made him breed with his sister(lol) and got 7F female + 8E male.
Branded the 8E and bought the pearl shop costume and now I'm praying to rngesus.. lvl 11 with 6 skills atm, only drift is useful. Now I have mini heart attacks everytime he lvl up without learning anything xD

Well, if I thought it was hard to get a regular t8, imagine a courser ._.. There are no T8 horses at all at the market in the server I play on(they started being available last week lmao), do you think is worth trying and trying for a T8 or the diff is not gigantic? I started breeding this week with two t5 and i'm with a t6 and, hopefully, with a t7 tomorrow.
If you don't mind leveling your own horses while you afk then I would totally do it yourself. You can get lucky any time and get a tier 8 even off of a T6 and T7. I also got 2 tier 7s off of my original T5s. Just make sure you go find my advanced breeding video for that horse calculator in helping you get your best odds. As is, I have only sold one of my T8s and it was a junker as far as courser goes. I have bred 7 total - but I'm kind of an addict LOL.

Like I said, you can get them out of T6 and T7 as well. Has happened to me several times now. T7s are more likely to give you tier 7s than t8s, but you do get t8s as well. Soon I'm going to put up a video on my breeding results so you guys can see the odds I've gotten so far.

A lot of the reason you never see them in the market is because it's really hard to get a courser naturally, and most have to spend real life money in the form of skill change coupons to get them. The game has them severely under-priced - I went to sell a courser recently with it's breeds used up and they said it went for 218 million. Considering I used something like 16 skill change coupons to make it a courser in the first place, it is not worth it to me to sell it especially considering they take a tax out of that 218m too. I think it's something like 35% so you only get 142 million for something you spent $35 bucks on - and that's on a good day. This is why you see people asking for pearls to recoup their losses...I've thought about selling for horse breed reset tokens and what not, but then there is no guarantee the horse will go to the person you're trying to sell it to. The whole system needs changed and we need to allow legit trading in game. But who knows if that will ever happen.

Well what's worse is people like you would be paying 100% of the price and yet 35% of it goes into a sinkhole. I have no idea why they penalize people who are doing a lot of work to get the kind of horses they have as well as spending extra money. You think you'd get rewarded..but ah well! My best advice, would be to catch some tier 5s and start breeding your own. I have some guides on my channel that will help you with it and you will get up to tier8 before you know it so long as you don't mind afk horse training.
