The very fact that you can stop someone from telling their story because of the question or how it was asked is ridiculous. They should just allow him to say whatever he felt is relevant uninterrupted. Then it can't be "leading" or "hearsay" it's ridiculous

The way Elaine spoke to this man is just completely unacceptable. I see a lot of people talking about how they feel bad for Heard's lawyers cause they're fighting for an already defeated case, but Elaine genuinely makes me uncomfortable and nauseous with how belittling and belligerent she always is. If you've got the facts to back you up, you don't need to tear down the witness this way.

Obviously there is so much evidence here, this detail is so minor, but the chaotic disorganization of thought and argument of Heard’s team becomes worse with each passing court day.

All those little strikes fr evidence, the witnesses' demeanor, the way the attorneys act towards the witnesses'. All those little things add up. And like it or not, jury trial is a popularity contest.

They didn't mind his answering. It was his description of WHY it bothered him that they didn't want him to talk about. He was starting to say that Heard's yelling triggered him because he himself had been in an abusive relationship. The Heard team can't let him say THAT.

The pure fact that Amber's team looked literally terrified of this guy, trying to prevent him from taking the stand for dear life and doing everything they could to humiliate and discredit him afterwards tells me everything I need to know.
But Johnny Depp's lawyers did the exact same thing, constantly interrupting her testimony, it's doing their job, I don't think it indicates what you think it does.
How did they look literally terrified, they hardly showed them, and why tf would they be "terrified" . He ain't the the boogy man. Even then, you would have to be a body language expert to identify what terrified looked like and you would need a lot more clips . Also , Johnny's team objected everything too. Had to testify in a child custody thing. With all the objections I didn't know whether I should speak or not. Judge finally reminded the atty it was a hearing, not a trial. I was fine when I started but I was a nervous wreck as I stepped down from the witness chair.

They let her ramble over simple yes or no questions & I think that gave her so many opportunities to manipulate the narrative but perhaps it was strategic and they allowed her to go on and on in hopes to catch more lies
I think that’s exactly what they were doing, letting her talk herself into more trouble. And she did! The more she was allowed to say, the more she entangled herself in her own lies. I’m pretty sure it was as difficult listening to her BS to them as it is to all of us, her self-important, arrogant stories were the worst- but she’s her own worst enemy. Can someone please explain to me why & how Camille’s questions were objected to AND actually sustained? JD is literally in the courtroom. Everyone else has been able to speak about their interactions with JD and AH (what they talked about/witnessed). Why is this man or these circumstances any different? Serious question. This has me puzzled.

Seems like mostly hearsay, leading, and a little foundation. AH's lawyer is trying to catch and stop any moments where the witness could be led to answer in a specific way or "speak on another's behalf" by quoting others (hearsay, which could also be viewed as gossip, which is why any good lawyer would keep an eye on such things). They also don't want a witness's personal opinion on things. The judge and jury only require any and all who take the stand to answer what is asked, not lie (which would be commiting perjury), and be as impartial as possible (leave your personal opinions and past experiences especially not related to the case to yourself). I'm assuming the court operates this way to reduce confusion by limiting the information to only what is directly relevant and factual to the events that occured. They want his witness testimony of that night, not his own relationships.
I do commend Camille for questioning the way she did, though. She's as direct as she can be in the American court of law.
Camille picked up on AH team's "What if anything" wording. Somehow when AH team uses it it's fine but if Camille uses it, objection after objection. 🙄
Edit to add: AH looking into the camera makes me uncomfortable.
It is manipulative, in that she knows she is being tried in the court of public opinion via this channel, so she's trying to communicate with us/influence us.

'What did you see' ? That simple question, could have been enough, to stop the objections! Btw. This witness, even being humble and candid, show us, that the most truthful person doesn't have to be famous, to be needed. Best witness.

The fact that Ambers' Lawyer thinks she can just call 'objection' to cut off the witness so he can't speak when he's in the middle of the sentence is disgusting. Ironic that they're so 'concerned' about not 'wasting' anyones' time that they bring in an unqualified psychiatrist and read from a list of tabloid articles as if that's somehow 'proof' of Johnny Depp bieng abusive... The witness was beggining to talk about his experience in actually bieng IN an abusive relationship, but I guess that's not important enough for them to want to hear... pathetic.
Someone else in the comments made a good point- Elaine let him talk about his experience being a bartender and knowing the signs of someone being drunk, but when he shares about being in an abusive relationship and seeing those signs she immediately cuts him off.
There's nothing "disgusting" about objecting in the middle of a sentence, this is actually the very job of the lawyer in court. JD's lawyers did the same, this is how court works.

Something I don’t really understand about this trial is I see witnesses having actual conversations with Johnny or Amber, explaining what happened, and then being objected to as “hearsay”. How can it be considered this when the person was literally there?
You can't say what another person said in conversation. That's what hearsay.
Hearsay is any out-of-court statement offered to prove the versatility of said statement. It’s barred essentially because it will be hard to cross-examine. For example, both JD and AH could have already forgotten what was said on that night, then his statement would standalone in proving whatever happened that night - shaky ground.
with respect to other replies, evidence law is quite complex. There are exceptions to the hearsay rule but basically you can only mention anything you directly experience - e.g. what AH said to JD is ok if you heard it directly but not if you heard it from someone else. Firsthand experiences only. Experts have more latitude in some areas of testimony.
"I was told there was dama" Objection! So there has to be a dance of words to simply explain how he came to be inspecting a trailer. Did he stumble into it by accident? No, there was a damage report. The legal pedantries here are preventing a witness from describing his morning in the natural way

It's really disturbing how AH tries to mimic JD. First his clothing, now his "doodling" with her "notes" her smirk makes my skin crawl. Irritating how AH went on and on and on to yes/no questions but the second someone standing up for JD does the same her lawyers are all "excuse me that was yes/no"

People've already said it, you can strike something from the record but you can't strike it from the jury's memory. Never made me happier in this case than now, with this guy being able to share that he experienced an abusive relationship himself. Even though it was formally struck.
