In 1936, Charlie "Lucky" Luciano received one of the longest sentences ever for compulsory prostitution, spanning until 1946 when he emerged from prison only to face exile. Luciano, with over 20 to 30 years entrenched in organized crime, honed his skills, particularly in manipulating politics. His aim? To bridge the gap between Italy and America, a feat he achieved in December 1946 when he hosted the Havana convention.
This gathering wasn't new to the world of organized crime, echoing past historic conventions like the 1929 Atlantic City and 1932 Chicago gatherings.
At the Havana convention, Luciano, along with the most powerful mob bosses from across America, reaffirmed his leadership, asserting his enduring influence over his crime family. Amidst handshakes and renewed alliances, they grappled with pressing matters, including the notorious Benjamin Siegel and his ill-fated Flamingo Hotel.
Despite a staggering investment of $147 million, the mafia found themselves with an unfinished structure. Yet, in December 1946, Siegel defiantly swung open its doors, marking a pivotal moment in underworld history.

That actually was a meeting before this arranged by Vito Genovese and it was in America I believe in New Jersey. The Havana Convention was foe gambling, Luciano's return it was in December also the same time Benjamin was opening the Flamingo. It was also to dicuss the future of organized crime especially amongst the Prohibition era gangsters...
