Amazing Isac! I cannot wait for the lighting video! Your lighting is already so realistic even at the start with an empty hallway, and that makes everything blend together so well straight away as you bring in those new assets. Fantastic work!
Lovely. Questions & comments: 1.I like the texturing on the damaged ceiling tiles. How and where did you texture the ceiling tiles ? you mentioned those assets were created and merged in Blender. 2. This was a nice opportunity to demo how you make any Qxl asset "sit" within the texture scheme of this scene. One of your colleagues has done exactly that in another video so you could mention that with the link in the info. However a micro demo in this video would have made it more complete. Thanks for such fantastic artistic education . Cheers, b
I like when you say "try to tell a story with the way you place your assets",because the passion to make this kind of art needs a feeling, not just the desire of making money with a video game.
You guys are amazing, really love seeing your workflow. Your end results are awe inspiring, and that bit of insight to your process definitely helps. Keep up the scanning :)
Can we get a tutorial on making landscape materials? For example, the landscape and its mask material is generated in world machine and based on that mask map, we assign different textures so the area where there is rock gets the rock texture etc.
Can't share much about it just yet, but terrain landscape are definitely coming, and the workflow will be much simpler than what you have by default :) stay tuned for that!
It's overwhelming me too but this isn't really a tutorial, he's really just explaing what he does when he works on his scenes. Did you find anything useful to aid in your learning and if so could you point me in the right direction?
5:19 This kind of tedium is why I wish we had better VR DCC tools. (Yeah I know UE4 has a VR Editor but it is not very intuitive to use...doesn't even have a fly navigation mode). A VR tool done right could cut so many steps out of the tweak hell that is organically naturalizing your artwork, similar to how it's so much easier to achieve a "natural media" look using a pressure/tilt sensitive graphics tablet, vs using a mouse where you'd have to swap between a dozen tools to individually tweak the feathering, thickness variation, and brush tilt variation all as separate steps, for every line.
That would be nice. 3D transformations are a lot faster in VR where you can use both your hands. In unreal engine you can only rotate around one axis which is so slow...
Man, this is so good. Having come from Cinema 4D I'm finding Unreal so confusing - I'd love to be able to build scenes such as this but I'm lost :/ awesome work here!!
Thanks a lot for this kind of tutorials ! However just one thing for the Quixel Meg team, maybe it can be a great idea to add something like "[...]part 2/3", or just "[...]part 2" or "[...]part 3" etc (if you don't know exactly yet how many videos you are gonna make). And also, add it in a playlist alone.. Here we can see the "tutorials playlist", i'm really grateful thanks for that ! But i think it's really important to clearly classify things, to be more clear, easy to see. Especially to be more "attractive", easy to understand and to apprehend especially for new people coming by. If you need to learn tons of new things (unreal/blender/quixel) & if you have to think also at witch video you have to see and where to find it..sometimes it can be repelling for some kind of people. Again, thank you :)
Can it all be merged so that there are no multiple calls specially when one wants to use such an asset in filmmaking. Many Thanks for sharing your workflow and thought process.
PLEASE is there some way to add a media plate or media player that works it only shows black screen when I add mp4 in media path. Please anyone have any idea I open other projects it works fine but I try to open this aban..Apt. and add Greenscreen but it only a shows black 🤦🏽♂️
Hello! Can you please tell me how you get your customized megascans objects from mixer back into unreal... is there an easy way to do this? Just like you we can export mixer textures to the bridge library.
Hello! can anybody here help me: Can somebody show or explain to me how to get the effect from 0:6 - 0:13? How to switch focus from background to first plan and opposite? I need this in sequencer, I'm making a video and I want it to be like this one. thank you all in advance!
Hello good day, Please I am not an pro in Unreal engine yet... Please, how did you achieve the external background shown at 3:04 . was it an image or what. thanks
awesome guys, BUT! How about optimisation of your materials? I tried to download your stuff. It weight tons of GB. It's not cool for indie dev when his game is more 100 gb.
Thank you for doing this new tutorial series... As an environment artist trying to find my fit in the industry... I would love to see tutorials on texturing interesting modular building components.. from, wild west, to sci fi & hard surface stuff as they would correlate to UE4... and Maya... well see you online... @hitmangames2 (Twitter) and on facebook
Nice work! When is Mixer 2020 getting an update? I wish I could directly export to Bridge the manual method is very tedious. The only other thing we need is to support direct Baking like in Substance Painter then Blender integration would be superb. Otherwise I have to use a combination of Add-ons. Actually maybe the Quixel team could make another Blender On for Mixer exporting to bake the required maps to speed up workflows for us indies.
Hey Ali, we won't be covering camera moves in the next part, but Epic has a ton of amazing videos where they go over sequencer in great detail, so be sure to check out their channel!!
Just seeing this makes me realise how good last of us 2 is going to look like! For real tho, if the loading screen isn't as crispy as this videos I will be disappointed.
I love to watch Quixel videos. No matter what it is about
:)
OUTSTANDING...!!! I truly believe that creating "abandoned" environments is an artwork and you you Sir are a gifted artist. Very nice work...!!
I love that blend material. Awesome work Isac.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your workflow. Great information here!
I remember when I use to do this in 3DMax, boy that was painful ...now it look so much easier.. nice vid.
A lot of The Last Of Us vibes, I like it u.u
I know right! Somehow post-apocalyptic environments always attract me!
Imagine tlou made on Unreal engine!
@@LoneWolf-tk9em it would be hella amazing!!
what to do if DX12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument?

Absolutely agree... this is art and not just a money grab at the EG Marketplace.

I dreamt about something like this and was thinking of building it and you appeared in my recommended.
Thanks for this!

beautiful art ,it will be great to see an extended breakdown of this scene
This is such great advice about the storytelling and layering. Thanks.
This tutorial are good but so fast, we need longer tutorial.

Quixel is just a fantastic resource full stop...and paired with UE4..you arent limited by much..

This is really awesome! Thanks Isac!
Quixel is pretty amazing, but it still needs one thing: Trains! (Like locomotive, wagoons, etc) Please
I love u quixel and unreal makes my texturing so much easier
great video, got me inspired
Just add some pizza boxes and computer and it looks like my apartment.
my room irl

Right click go to transform, lock actor
@@sleuthman864 Got it! Thanks a lot :D
Does decals add too much performance loss ?? never tried more than 2 at one wall.
Deferred decals are generally very cheap, trick is to not use very large ones as anything visible under the alpha is rendered twice
Hello good day, Please I am not an pro in Unreal engine yet... Please, how did you achieve the external background shown at 3:04 . was it an image or what. thanks
That's an HDRI, search for that on RUclips with ue4 and you'll find tuts, basically a Sphere with a 360 HDR photo on it
I also just started Unreal, but that looks like an HDRI (High Dynamic Range Image). It's the material used on the skybox.
HDRI
What is the system requirements for developing a scene like this.
An Intel UHD, two Intel Pentium G42069, and 2020mb of RAM
This scene does use RTX tech, so you will need a raytracing card!!
Nice
All of this is free, right? on UE4?
Correct!
