I can still remember when they pulled Ben from our first grade class and promoted him to second grade. Way back in Mrs. Rawlings room at Washington Elementary. I’m glad to see him doing important work.
I found this lacking in many ways. Many unanswered questions, for example... Is the outcome The Dr. mentioned following contact with the virus the ONLY possibility? The answer is clearly no. He should have explained "all" the possible outcomes from the worst case scenario to the most benign outcome. He is implying that "every person" is going to need to go to the hospital that tests positive for this virus. He mentions other viruses but fails to compare this virus to other serious viruses that humans deal with every year on a routine basis namely influenza. Approximately 500,000 people were hospitalized with influenza last year, and 35,000 ended up dying because of the virus; and that's in the U.S. alone. This is something we deal with "every year". How is the corona virus different???? Only the shape?...No information here....What age group is susceptible to contacting this virus and who is more likely to die from it? Extremely important facts...nothing here. All he is basically saying is that this will go away if we all stay at home.... That's it????? You have to be kidding me.... What about immunity? Is a certain amount of immunity in a population important??? Why??? How do we get immunity??? Here's a hint... most of society is going to get immunity by "getting the virus"....unless a vaccine is discovered; and he mentions vaccines haven't been successful for coronal viruses. Unless I'm misunderstanding, all he is saying is that if we stay at home the virus will leave all humans and we can go back to our normal lives??? Like the SARS virus? Does he believe that's possible?? It seems to be implied. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but I would have liked to hear the Dr.'s opinion, based on how contagious this virus is, and how long the incubation period has been. In my opinion this is an example of a very well directed and edited video, nice background music, slow motion, panning, subtitles, but in the end most of it is simply describing how extensive the Dr.'s experience is, and some basic information on what viruses are, in general. I suspect there was much more insightful information given by the doctor that was left "on the cutting room floor" so to speak, by the "audio/visual" department editors. Too bad. I would have liked to have heard what Dr. Neuman has learned.
Superlative! My 76 yo advice: Optimize your immune system! Work hard: exercise, to the point where it hurts, to mold your body into excellent physical condition; and then maintain it at that level! That's the baseline from which intrusive aliens are discouraged from invading and taking over the human body and its intricate, marvelous systems. Dr. Neuman alludes to this truth very well...just do it! Then, all the essential hand washing, nutritious food, rejuvenating sleep, maintenance of mind sharpness, emotional harmony et al will cooperate toward the goal of best health. Discipline and balance in all things: that's my mantra...good luck and Godspeed!
