It should be noted that the only reason why Black loses in these lines is that Black is either greedy, unaware or masochistic by taking on d4xc3. And before that, c5xd4 was played which is less blatantly a mistake. And, less of a mistake but noteworthy is that the move Qd8-b6 which is why over 30 years ago I was exploring Qd8-a6 instead which threatens White less but sends the game into lines that aren't like what you see in this video. The delayed or even no recaputre by White c3xd4 is interesting and something I encountered a few times 35 years ago but wasn't popularized until much later. It's something French players have to be aware of, and IMO only low rated players fall for these line nowadays.
@@GMIgorSmirnov glad to hear that. Just hope they do something to these attacks because I dont suppose you're up for the challenge of beating that record by being banned and restored 3x a week haha.
Ugh, so the attack must have removed all the comments for this video. Oh well, I think I remember mine: The weird thing about the French Defense is that White always looks to be winning 10 or 15 moves into the game, with a space advantage and more active pieces. However, attacking Black's tortoise shell of a structure turns out to be not so easy. When a winning middle game combination fails to materialize, Black typically gets the better endgame and wins. Basically, the French Defense is the chess equivalent of the rope-a-dope in boxing. Also, at 8:00, agreed h6? can be met by Nb5. However, playing a6 before h6 to prevent Nb5 seems Iike a simple antidote. This video has some good ideas, but I don't think it will have French Defense players shakin' in their boots. 😀
At 4:40 black can also play ...Nh6. If white plays Qxd4 he wins the piece back but black is still a pawn ahead. I would prefer to play white, but this is not as bad for black as other lines,
At 8:30 what if the queen moves to b8 to stop the checkmate you said there's nothing black can do it looks like black can just move out of the smothered mate with the queen at b8. The knight can then fork blacks rook at the cost of the g5bishop and a trapped night with the king unable to castle or move bishop to safety and in a good position but looks like black can hold off and defend in that position queen at b8. A nice aggressive opening I like it thanks for the video. I was just wondering what to do if that happens because I would get a rook and loose my bishop then have my knight trapped so would end up down or I could move my bishop and keep pieces on the board unless there's a better move instead of b5 knight or g5 bishop.
When Black exchanged for the soldiers in the middle, should he first rush the two side soldiers preventively to prevent the knights and bishops from attacking Black?
Can someone explain what happens in the last variation of the video where u sack a piece and put the knight on b5 what would b the continuation after queen b6?

I know I must be missing something, but at the 6:20 part of the video if Black plays 11 ....... Nxe5 instead of ......a6, I don't know what to play as White.
if 11. ..... Nxe5, then 12. Bd4, Nxf3+ 13. Qxf3 looks decent because of all of white's pieces are well defended, while black is going to have to keep on moving his queen out of danger as white gains tempi

Qd8-a6? Is that a legal move?
Great work smirnov sir . You are amazing.
The Milner-Barry Gambit. You don't show Black's best defences. Black is better if they play 9 Be3 Qd8 10 ~ Nge7 11 ~ a6 (not h6).
My engine says +.65 what depth you at? Only line where black might be better I see is if black doesn’t take on c3

I learned this as the EZ System, or the Dojo System from GM Jesse Kraai's videos. Uh oh--the secret's out on my favorite system against the French.

Did you know the French can logically transpose into the Benoni, if black chooses? I just find transpositions incredibly interesting.

if you do that in a game that would be quite sad because of Nd6#
No, silly one. I said play a6 instead of h6. Don't let your opponent play Nb5.
Hi, these lines from igor seem very unrealistic. Do you have a proper plan or video link against the french defense?
@@ingogoldbeck2886not unrealistic, if you play at more than 1500 elo things like this will happen
right move!@@zanti4132
Actually, playing Bullet on Lichess, 3...c5 is definitely the most popular move, but I regularly also encounter 3...f6.
you are right, f6 is the workaround solution
if e4,e6 d4,d5 e5,WHAT WILL I PLAY IF MY OPPONENT PLAYS C5?
Wish I had worked this out for myself I have been playing advanced for years.
Caro kann advance white will be also try to show
If black plays 8 e4), white shud go 9(Nd4?

Nothing in this video is possible black blocks with their light bishop before eating the pond on the center.
The pawn is almost never worth it. The resulting positions are two passive for OTB.
