As a runner and skater this is such a good move for them. Asics are my preferred running shoe for quality and comfort and i cant wait to skate the brand too now!

Asics are one of the only brands I can get extra wide trainers in, hopefully they start making wide skate shoes because no else does.
Vans does but most if their shoes don’t stay in shape long enough
Try Lakai Griffin, Etnies Marana, or any Globe shoe.

I have the same problems my foot super wide . The ES shoes were always pretty wide ! Vans literally only have 1 pair the half cabs and maybe the Rowan’s I use them .

I was wondering when they would talk about this. I feel like Asics put a lot of thought into it. Cool that they're bringing them to the states. Here's hoping they being them to europe too. I would totally wear the segmented sole ones. Looks wild!

elementality first part.
Asics have always killed it with their other shoes so I'm confident they'll make a damn good skate shoe.
The Creative Direction on it has been great from the start so far, Jake Gascoyne comes from doing a lot of work over at Nike on creative, and Jacob Harris from Atlantic Drift looks to have done a lot of work on the video side.
Gino recreates the Nike FC Zoom every chance he gets. lol
yet if you go to the asics website they dont acknowledge skateboarding in any way. i searched "skateboarding" and "Gino" and neither got any results.
the japanese site does. north american site might take a little bit longer or they will just create a separate site instead. you can find them on some skate shop sites as i think thats where they wanna put their focus first rather than the general public.

I like it; back in middle school - end of high school I used to use Asics wrestling shoes only they lasted well and just were the best in that field so I am excited to get a pair and see how it feels.
There was a burgundy color shown at 8:20. I would buy those in a heartbeat. Can’t find them online. Maybe not available here yet. But they look sick

Same, tried Nikes and they fell apart, had the Tigers forever.
I sounds gay but in high school I joined volleyball so I could jump higher so I could ollie higher. Anyway I had a pair of ASICS and ended up using them to skate and they lasted longer than my Airwalks or DVS.

the broken part of sole is my favorite it's like i there is a part of that sole where i should flick and when i feel it rubs the grip it so satisfying. Like i would not flick as hard as i can just a little flick of toe on that part is effortless i don't know if others has same feeling. In my own opinion tho

It’s weird seeing skaters move their purchases from skate companies to random sport companies, and other skaters hyping this..
In the near future parents will buy their kids ASICS before sending them to their obligatory skateboard classes every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm. And after skateboard class is piano class.
So....do skaters only wear skate brand shoes? Have they always only worn skate brand shoes? Or have they always worn Nike, NB Adidas etc....? I would guess skaters have worn a great mix of brands over time. Some being skate brands others being sports brands. I would guess it comes down to function, build quality vs fashion and form. Some brands (whether skate brands or not) excel at one or the other. A few get both right. And sports brands do have the edge in terms of making shoes for performance.
@@Sabundy 20 years ago skaters wore skatebrands like es, emerica, lakai... 10 years ago most skaters started moving to nike and adidas. Mostly because the big brands grabbed the top skaters and the rest followed. Skate companies build the culture, while companies like Nike use the culture instead of fostering it. It's a trend, and it is heading towards 2h obligatory skate classes, right after piano class.

Those gum soled onea remind me of the sole of a 2000's era Es shoe.
The crazy part is I’ve always liked asics but in 30 years of looking I’ve never found a pair that looked and felt good on foot but now I see this line and it’s 5 out of 5 great looking models/cws so far. I should be more excited about this than I am but I’m gonna hold out judgement until all the facts are in as it were.
Plus you know the Bruce Lee joints will come in hot sooner or later.
I’m gone keep it a buck with sole tech for now tho.
Hahaha. You ain't lying. I mess with Asics. Always have. As a former rocker dude the onitsuka tiger models are a go. We also like New Balance. Saucony, Roos, PF flyers. Some of these companies are still doing the damn thing today.
The Gel Lyte III is the comfiest shoe of all time IMO and one of the best looking, but they're not for everyone

Asics makes really good quality shoes. Been buying them for years.
I'm a fan of the white/cream and gum, they are neat. I don't mind the sole broken model with the tongue, very interesting design. Their regular Asic Gel Lyte series and collaboration work is really great and comfortable so this could be very successful.
Asics are filthy. Some of my favorite wrestling shoes was the Dan Gable asics Tigers. My dad handed me them down from the 70s. I think I still have those bad boys.
Chris start running. It’s so good for endurance snd core strength. Both help with us older dudes skating. I’m older than you. 🤣🤣

Hilarious. When I was a kid there was a shoe store called "Just For Feet". They had a basketball hoop set up there, hardwood and all so you could take your new basketball shoes and test them on the court. Anyways they had this neon light sign in the back that I always thought was Osiris skate shoes. So I had my mom take me there to get a new pair because my old pair was worn out and it was an Asics sign the whole time Lmao wild that they have skate shoes now

ASICS is a great shoe co. Casper is the correct man to start ur sb program. Shout out to the og European legend. At Nike sb all they used to talk about was what Casper was saying doing and working on. So long time coming. ASICS sb should be incredible.

The soles are made of like the generic plastic nobody likes in a skateshoe but I still wanna give em a try. I like how they don't have "gears" on the bottom so your locked into your stance like a lot of skate shoes have been since the 2010s.

Skaters love ASICS cause they usually are the choice of sneaker we go too for work shoes. Now they are fully tapping into skateboarding. Nike and NBnumeric offer good shoes but the direction they have gone with their branding in the past few years kinda sucks hopefully we get a high brand in skateboarding more fitting to the creative and artistic side of skateboarding.
FINALLY they’re going to the US.

As a kid I grew up skating in adidas before they had skate shoes. in 1990 I skated in tons of Gazelles. Nike does alot for skating but I never bought them. I stayed with adidas with a little Airwalk mixed in over my teenage years.

For sure. I always wore the Stan smiths. Pretty sure they only made them in white. I could always find them at a ROSS here in Houston which is a place they sale clothes and shoes that didn’t sale elsewhere so they’d be at discount. Mid 90’s. I too, have never purchased nikes.
@@bradhiser9230 in the mid 90's I had baby blue suade stan smiths & lots of white ssmiths. always got the black shelltoes too. back then they cost $19.99, wasn't till 200203ish the price jumped up to $80-$100 a pair. by then I had the hook-ups for Axion Shoes and only plaid $30 for any show. the grip on the stan smiths & shell toes were the best ever!

Honestly at the time I didn’t think Nike SB or new balance would last when they first started.. now their running it.. more power to ASICS if they can pull it off but I don’t care for them much either

In Australia asics is the eshay lad shoe of choice 2nd to nike tns, i can see guys in fake gucci and lv,sporting a mullet and tacky gold (fake or stolen). And big oakleys sporting them Theyll be slangn ice too.
Only if they’re “Red Quantum Gels” aka (Clown Shoes) mate , Other Asics are fair game. Those Gronks are only attracted to Sport brands and the Colour Red.
When i first read this i wondered how they would look like. Except the hiking shoes which look awful they are not bad. I am NIKE SB Head since day one and love skating dunks. In terms of asthetics and style only a few models like the lakai telford and és accel come close.
I'm always amazed when someone talks about only wearing Nike as if that is some kind of brag or something to be proud of. Everyone should like what they do of course.....but only liking any particular brand does not make you special. And only liking Nike is not something to crow about. Nor does a Nike logo inherently mean good or quality.
