Our health care system has been broken first by insurance companies and now by a pandemic.
In the Netherlands we keep our hospitals functioning by high vaccination rates and prohibiting large outdoor and indoor events, mask mandates in public transport. It can be done!

Employers should mandate that their employees be vaccinated. Many people would get vaccinated if they were pushed and they have to get vaccinated for the country to reach herd immunity. It’s not just a personal decision. It’s about the health of the community.

If they don’t trust medicine and prefer quack remedies like horse dewormer, then go to veterinary or witch doctor for care or use leeches.

Thank you all for your kind words so far, I truly appreciate everything anybody says or does to help out their trashman, we are not machines, we are humans with emotions that enjoy the job, but just get the brown end of the stick, If anybody else reads this just please remember us, some cold drinks during these super hot days are very welcome. (Also a fair bit of garbage trucks actually lack any Air Conditioning so we sit in a cab that is about 20 degree hotter than it is outside as well)

The hospitals made a business decision many years ago to reduce the number of beds and staff in order to maximize profit. I remember seeing stories years ago that the policy would come back to haunt us if there were ever an emergency.
Yep. In America healthcare is just another "for profit" business...and for profit businesses value "efficiency" more than anything else. That is why when covid hit our healthcare people did not have any more protective gear than the countries that spend one half as much on healthcare as we do.

I’m no nurse but I’m taking care of my partner, his grandma, and my toddler. It’s no joke. Im literally the last hope in this house. I have to wake up everyday and check to see if people are dying or dead. I haven’t seen my mom in weeks and I love my mom.

Some religions forbid altering your body even for medical purposes. That's just how it is weather we agree or not.
Right? Do they skip the seat belts too and expect supernatural protection? Do they close their eyes at stop signs and drive right through? Do they have health insurance? And if so, why? Don't they trust that they will never need it?

My mother in law refused the shot, got a bad bad case and almost died twice. She is a conservative Christian and thought it was up to god. After her near-death experience she told every doctor and nurse who asked her if she got the shot, “No, I was stupid”. Her older, less healthy sister and Brother in law got it from her before she knew, they had Moderna and are fine. My wife had Moderna, was in her face for 48hours screaming at her to breathe, she is negative as of yesterday. Please get the shot, it’s a gamble either way, but you do not want Covid Delta or Lambda!

I just saw that among vaccines available in the Usa, Moderna seems to give the highest protection (76%) against the delta variant(edit). Pfizer, a bit lower.

My brother in laws sis ter got a heart attack the same day as the jab. Had to be driven to the hospital and almost died. She still not in the clear

The hospital (Sacred Heart) could not get it prescribed when she was first submitted, after she almost died and was recovering they got a temporarily allowance to try it on early diagnosed cases. But no hospitals had it. Zinc, D and multi-B is what she was being given the whole time. A $40 Oximeter saved her life. YOU WILL NOT KNOW YOUR OXYGEN SATURATION DROPS BELOW 90! By the time you feel it, you have minutes to recover to at least 80’s. Hers bottomed at 45!!!

@@thebootielover The vaccine prevents one to die from covid and to be seriously ill. This is why people have to be vaccinated. On your 2nd point, it is only the new delta variant that makes even vaccinated people able to contaminate someone else if assymptomatic or sick themselves, this why wearing a mask at appropriate times(crowded places, indoors places,etc.) is a good thing.
Previous variants were less aggressive and the viral charge was rather low on vaccinated people.
But your stance seems to be rather political. When one thinks that people in poorer countries would love to get access to vaccines, you appear to be an irresponsible spoiled individual.

God is the one who has always been there for me. In times of trouble and danger and when others refused to help me and even abandoned me, God was there for me. I trust in him to keep me safe. You put your faith in the vaccine. But of that vaccine worked then you wouldn't be worried about others not taking it, since the vaccine protects you.

Why would you want that in your house? It’s all petroleum based anyway. Natural meds were tossed out when John D Rockefeller created the pharmaceutical industry. He also bought up the American Medical Association. When studies began showing cancer from the new meds he then created the American Cancer Association to silence those claims under his guide. All doctors and anyone who stood up to this evil were arrested and had all medical licenses taken away. So yes hopefully none of us have medicine cabinets full of cancer causing BS that even says in most cases on that bottle that it’s not meant to be a fix or cure. That was just mind-boggling with the ambulance worker who saw this daily was afraid to be vaccinated. Being confronted by her fear, thank god finally made her go get vaccinated. God bless these people who are essential in fighting COVID.
Years ago this was shared with me & I'll do my best to be accurate to leave for someone else:
There was a bad flood & a man found himself on top of his roof trying to escape the rising waters. Other folks in a boat came & offered him a ride. The man replied "No thanks. God will save me." & the people left. A few hours later, the water was to his knees & a helicopter came. They threw the rope instructing the man to grab it so they could pull him out. The man replied "No thanks. God will save me." About an hour later the water was well over the man's head & he had drown. Upon entering the gateway of Heaven the man asks "God. Why didn't you save me?" God replied "I sent you a boat & a helicopter and you passed on both so I brought you home since you refused the help."

Getting vaccinated wasn’t a hard choice. I’m a paramedic, and I have had to intubate patients. Once they go on that ventilator, they don’t usually come off unless they are dead.
I agree. It wasnt a hard decision for me either. I have subglottic stenosis (a narrowing of the airway below the vocal cord and before the lungs) which puts me at greater risk with Covid. I dont want to take a chance. My parents and only sibling on the other hand ...refuse to get vaccinated which worries me. Especially my parents who are 79 and 80 respectively.

We recently had a patient in our office. She has a family friend who is a Covid nurse at Gwinnett Medical Center in Atlanta. They have 40 Covid beds, each bed occupied. Every Covid patient has had both jabs.
Few of my relatives were admitted and went to severe conditions after the jab.. In hospital for more than a week with oxygen support and concentrators and big amount to settle hosp bills

And also looks both ways before crossing the road and doesn't take other unnecessary risks with her life. I am religious as well and believe God teaches us to have a high respect for human life and gives us common sense to make choices accordingly to preserve the gift of life. Therefore I personally chose to protect myself and my neighbors by getting vaccinated. Not all religious people feel the same as her.
Employers (especially EMTs) should talk to each employee and give them the time to go and get the vaccine. An infected EMT could infect people that are immunocompromised or spread it to multiple strangers. My son's employer keeps track of the employees that have been vaccinated and will require all employees to be vaccinated once the vaccines have FDA approval.
Getting the shot doesn't mean your free. You could still spread it even if you are vaccinated

@@johnspinelli9396 Which is why the CDC recommends masks indoors whether you are vaccinated or not. This is with the Delta variant. A booster should improve this situation and a vaccine that actually targets the variants would be even better. Moderna and Pfizer have these vaccines but I don't think that they can get the go-ahead to start clinical trials on them. Still, the risk is lower with the vaccine.

When the ambulance guys picked up my dad. They really showed some backbone. My dad and I were some of the first covid patents in the area. My dad and I both had covid. They were really good with it. I wouldn't want to do their job.

Honestly, I do not buy the "I don't have time" argument. Especially from someone in healthcare. I work at a hospital and got vaccinated at work. I was gone for 15 minutes including walking time, and back at my desk after getting the shot.

When you have to go to the ER in Jasper you have to wait in the hall way for 2hours and there are people that are sitting on a table because their back hurts! After my dislocated her shoulder and had stitches it took 10 hours in the ER and the people that needed a fix because they done feel good go home before she went home..

So far everyone the media interview with covid in the hospital all overweight.
Regardless of whether they should lose weight, getting vaxed is faster.
My 27 y/o daughter, a volunteer EMT in SE Virginia, tells me they are always working ‘on red’, overwhelmed, short of personnel and ambulances because they have lost 40% of the force due to Covid19. Most of those have quit, others have gotten sick or are quarantined.
Worst of all is when they have to attend a call and they find a clearly non-emergency ‘patient’ that’s standing outside the house waiting for a ride to the hospital, even with other adults and cars in the driveway that could have taken that person to the ER, instead of attending to real, life-threatening emergencies.

Ambulance workers really!!! How unprofessional they are EMTs and paramedics!! They have been getting hammered way before covid. With the lowest pay of anyone in emergency medicine!! Do you call nurses doctor helpers ??

Sure u can bring 100 beds at the hospital parking lot but will you have the adequate Licensed skilled Frontline Healthcare Workers to care for the 100 patient's.

I'm talking about: Dr, Nurses, Respiratory Therapist, etc...etc...etc...the list goes on and on and on.

This just happened with my grandfather, he went into cardiac arrest on Monday the Arkansas hospital didn’t have room for him due to Covid, ICU was maxed they were going to fly him to Missouri couldn’t find room for him before they can look somewhere else it was too late

Another issue is, a lot of the people we’re transporting do not even need emergency care and will be released the day of. People need to stop abusing the 911 system for an “easy” ride to the hospital.

Is the problem beds or the problem is staff? I cannot believe that there are no beds in 100 mile radius for 15 hospitals. Someone need to go around and fact check. If they are no beds then the politicians in the entire state failed to protect the people. And they need to get vaccinated and wear a mask
I would literally give anything if the public would stop referring to us as "ambulance workers." We happen to work on an ambulance... but we are EMT's and Paramedics. Thank you.

Some people are scared of being vaccinated because of the needle. Hoping they they will use those syringes that doesnt show needles.
They’re a minority. There are needle phobic people in New Zealand and we recently had to gank vaccines off Spain and Denmark because the demand was about to outstrip the supply.
