When you remember how disruptive big construction projects were in the past, this bit of the HS2, despite involving the movement of a fair bit of earth, construction materials and part finished building items, seems to have involved very little extra traffic on the local roads in terms of big lorries (I'm relatively local to the construction site and use Moorhall Road, North Orbital Road and others at least once a week). . . A testament to the forethought, planning and day-to-day management of the logistics thats clearly gone into the project and, more than likely, a tribute to the previous actions of all those campaigners for outside interests who, over the years, encoraged and sometimes compelled construction operators to "Raise their game".
Brunel and Stevenson et al would be impressed.
That said, I understand and appreciate that at construction sites on other parts of the route it might not have been such plain sailing as here for the locals.

Thanks for your reply, I have only just seen it, yes a lot of planning seems to have been put into consideration of building a new railway line out of London and so a high cost compared to others in the world. In 10 years it will be interesting to see how it became an asset or not, we can look at HS1, M25, and Chanle Tunnel to judge whether we need the capacity to improve our economy....
