Did anyone else notice that Kratos's Spartan Rage activates every single time Atreus is threatened in any way during the game? The first time it does this is when Baldur comes to Kratos's house and the two fight. Baldur says something like 'If you won't talk, maybe whoever you've got hiding in the house will,' and Kratos just explodes.
Dad of Boi is such a great game. Its cool to see how much Boi "evolves" during the journey. From not being able to shoot a deer, to shooting arrows midair matrix style lol
Honestly Atreus is such a good kid, I know he had his attitudes from time to time but he’s always willing to protect his father even if he’s just a child he’s brave and overall respectful, I loved the father-son relationship and how it evolved
He has a rage that is literally tearing him up inside. It's tough to raise a kid like that, especially as a single parent. So I don't blame Kratos for being a bit of a hard ass. Atreus is smart and sweet, but he's also sensitive and hesitant. If Faye were alive she'd probably be able to help Kratos be a proper father. But she's dead and he's just doing the best he can do.
Aww, you missed the little scene where Atreus finds the floating lantern with the Giant's prayer, lights it, and Kratos watches it float away. I found this scene very cute, especially after their escape in Hel, when Kratos transforms the ship into a hot air balloon, using what he learned from Atreus. He let the boy be a child for a moment, and it payed off in the long run. All these moments made me either smile or get teary-eyed.
I love how good of a father kratos is, he’s severe but still reasonable, doesn’t use violence or anger to discipline atreus and he protects him from danger even if it hurts him.
…Well Atreus did need some toughness once in a while. Either to harden him for the journey to come or to correct his hubris after the revelation of his godhood.
i love all the little extra touches on the animation to show how much kratos cares about his son. at 6:45 the way he quickly adjusts his position midair to catch atreus and then protect him with his body, at 7:24 the way he instinctively motions atreus behind him to keep him away from magni, everything after 8:36--there's just all these cute and subtle little things that build up their relationship very subtly. what a great game
Gotta love how when the troll/ogre thing tries to bite Atreus at 4:32, Kratos immediately puts his arm between the mouth and Atreus, getting bitten instead to save him.
the question is how hard his arm for not getting chop by being bitten that ogre. I'm sure that ogre use full force to actually bit Atreus head. This is literally the hand of god.
11:30 what i love about this moment is that if you think about it the old kratos would have kept magnis mace and used it to kill him and kill everything he faces but instead he quickly wields it and throws it away instead of killing him with it and checks on atreus to me it kinda shows how much kratos priority's have changed in those years away from his pantheon
Kratos: _creams Modi with his own mace_ Also Kratos: “Since when did Norse gods pack such useless weaponry?!?” _tosses mace aside & beats the shit outta Modi with just his bare hands_
At 28:48 I love how Kratos and Atreus are already so close by this point that they don't really need to speak to each other about what their next move gonna be. You can see Kratos and Atreus communicate with each other by moving their heads around, and then nods to each other just before Kratos jumped off with Baldur.
Kratos has such a serious attitude that if he ever does laugh out loud, I would imagine him laughing like Drax the destroyer in the Guardians of the galaxy movies. Laughing hard and and explaining his laughter.
Loves Nesh Kratos is immortal, but he is not invulnerable. In the last game he simply survived the stab wound. What was released was the power of hope which saved man kind after he stabbed himself.
Water Correction: After he stabbed himself and released hope into the world (thus gaining some of his God powers) he was unknowingly cursed to never be killed as a punishment for his sins. And he is invulnerable (except Gods, Titans, and God weapons like Blades of Chaos and Blade of Olympus can hurt him).
I love Kratos subtle body language. He points at Atreus mind and heart while explaining how critical is both aspects of being a wariror and holds both of Atreus arm when he wants to confirm that Atreus will take this teaching to heart. Both actors have done such amazing job
Seeing Kratos be a dad, and an honestly good one at that is so wholesome. This man who single handedly destroyed the Greek pantheon is the same one that we saw pace in an elevator in panic and begged a Goddess for help when his son is sick. What a great character development and a wonderful way to humanize this iconic character.
4:30 Holy shit. Now THAT is the love of a father. If you ever want to know how much most of your dads love you, this scene is the best description. Jesus christ

Same omg the way his voice is just barely over a whisper and you can almost feel the pain from his past memories and the pleading in his eyes begging Atreus to be better. I cry every time
What? The games were NEVER about somebody with anger issues who destroyed the world. The games were about a warrior who's humanity was stripped from the gods and beaten like a unwanted dog to be slaughtered and brought back to be slaughtered again. This man was forced to kill his wife, his child, and his mother. His brother was killed by a God in front of him. His own father killed him because he hated him. It's about a warrior who has lost everything in a pursuit of power and revenge and hates himself for what he has become. It always has. Kratos was literally first seen trying to end his own life. He has shown his humanity so many times from the last fight with Ares, to when he had to sacrifice his after life with his daughter to SAVE HER AFTERLIFE to being completely going insane and then finally regaining what little humanity he had left when he met Pandora and BEGGED her to let him find another way to beat Zues. And after all of this after all that he has lost and sacrificed for power all that regret and self hate he finally killed himself. But he moved on to a different realm and now he has a chance to become a father again. He has always been a very deep and complex character. Just nobody wanted to see it until now.
There is a great video called "God of War was always deep" or something like that. I suggest you watch it, because it seems you didnt understand the older games
Damn, the whole scene in Jotunheim where Kratos and Atreus spread Faye's ashes is making me cry like a baby.. Kratos calling Atreus son and holding him like a true father while they say goodbye to Faye is just.. heartwarming. Especially when you realize what they have been through and how much Kratos has changed thanks to his son.
Kratos's always acknowledged Atreus. All he'd done in the game was to teach him the way of life like all parents do...but there are much more twists and turns plus...adventurous scenarios which they'd been through lol.
the doubt in atrues’ voice before jumping at 6:28 then just jumping without any word from the both of them at 28:50 is nothing short of a great character development
Atreus: Hey it looks like a water wheel. Or should I say, an UNDER-water wheel. Kratos: *chuckles* Atreus: Did you just laugh at that? Kratos: No Atreus: Are you sure? Kratos: Yes, I never laugh
Yeah, I have noticed that when I finished the game, maybe the giant blood he has is what made his eyes glow when he was calling the serpant. But who knows, maybe they might make another God of War game next year or the year after, and we might get our answers.
My favorite scene of theirs will always, ALWAYS be when they’re sitting on the elevator and Kratos shares Atreus’s first drink with him, and offers what tiny bit of his homeland is left to his son first. He has truly risen above himself and his past in this scene. The simple gesture of sharing a drink with his son, is so monumental for Kratos as a character. The quiet “aaah” as he drinks his share and invites his son to share in the joy is just incredibly endearing. The bombast and absolute insanity of the previous games melts away and you realize that Kratos has truly grown and evolved as a human being when he is no longer simply a tool of unending war, but a father to his son in a way he never had one, a caretaker in way that was denied for him, and a husband in a way that was stolen from him. To me, it’s as significant as retrieving the blades of chaos not as weapons of war, but as tools to be used for the purpose he needs to save his son. The stark difference between waging war because it is all he knows, and going to war because it is what he must do to save his only kin is just fantastic writing, and I can’t wait to see what Ragnarök brings.
Everyone acts like atreus has to go insane to start ragnarok, when he can absolutely stay sane and still have a reason to kill the Norse because they're corrupt in this setting.
I do not think gods can die of such meager food poisoning issues, heck that won't even scratch their immune system Whatever makes mortals weak ,doesn't neccesarily be a threat for a God
I mean it technically starts with Gaia And you can put Uranus in since he is the father of cronos and son of Gaia but Gaia is the mother of cronos so 🤷🏽♂️
3:34, I love how kratos is saying this more for himself than Atreaus. He thinks he's saying it for Atreaus but kratos is the one who needs to stay calm
I like how it shows more of their relationship in the game the father and son bonding because they barely showed Kratos relationship with his daughter so much Idk if anyone notice but if u look closely to atreus scar on the left side of his face it's like the markings kratos has on his face
I disagree. In chains of Olympus Kratos had to sacrifice an afterlife with her just to save her afterlife. But it's hard to depict a relationship with a daughter that is currently dead
From what I heard, kratos' red markings were him putting them on himself in remembrance of his own brother due to his brother being kidnapped by a few of the gods such as Ares and Zeus due to a prophecy detailing Zues' fall and death from a tattoo'd warrior as kids, and they mistook kratos' brother as the marked warrior.
This game being my first experience in the God of War franchise I was furious at Kratos for his treatment towards Atreus. But as the game went on, the more enemies they encountered and the obstacles they fought through made me realise he was preparing his son for all of that. A beautiful game one of the best I’ve ever played
Well, Kratos also had to soften a bit and do a bit of work to earn Atreus' trust after being absent for what sounds like big chunks of his childhood. But yeah, a guy who's always solved his problems with violence (and occasionally sex) suddenly being the sole parent to a grieving child is a FASCINATING dynamic.
His palms are sweaty, *BOI* 's weak, Bow is heavy. There's *BOI* crying out his eyes already. Mom is Dead-y. *BOI* 's nervous on the surface. " *BOI* you're not ready..." ..To drop deer, But *BOI* keeps on requesting. To Shoot bow, the whole shot goes through it's throat *BOI* approaches slow but he can't make killing Blow *BOI* 's Chokin, how. Kratos dad tries coachin Now The moment's run out, Troll bursts on in Blaow!
Its the setting of the game that makes it likeable character but believe me in our modern world this won't work, it will just widen the gap between you and your child.Take inspiration from it but do not follow it.
We can still be that way to our sons. Do not let today's society that hate us so much dictate us into their image. Because the man I am meant to become to my wife and son comes from my heavenly father. So while everyone embraces the Barbie slogan "you can be anything", I share with every man and boy out there a better slogan for you all: "YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES!"
@@homuraakemi103 That works too but it's not a 💰printer. The OG fans already don't want Kratos to die so if Atreus takes over with a name as calm as that they'll probably riot. You need something harsh sounding like War or Death (Maybe Atreus son down the line). Even better with Chaos is that it links to the BLADES of Chaos and it plays into Loki's role as the harbinger of Chaotic Ragnarok in the mythos.
the scene where kratos gives atreus his new knife is probably my favorite the way kratos speaks so softly and sincerely is not something youd expect from him, but nonetheless its extremely heart warming
This game is a testament to how much the team behind this (Cory Barlog and Christopher Judge especially) love their children. I hope those kids play this game one day and appreciate just how much they impacted their parents and inspired them to create something incredible.
1:58 I love that moment. Here's Kratos: A guy who wiped out the entire Greek pantheon and dozens of other people in his wake without a shred of emotion, but here he is, not sure how to show affection to his own son. It's a bittersweet moment but it's also a very human moment from Kratos. Shows that he does love Atreus, just doesn't know how to show him.
One thing I've noticed and I love is like every time kratos and atreus are falling Kratos grabs his son and makes sure atreus is protected and falls on top of him
You cut out the most emotional part in the first clip lol, if you think about it. Kratos only knows hatred, wrath and pain, but being a father is changing those things to him. He is trying to be a better person, he is trying to be a father. He tries to reach out for his son, to comfort him after his first kill, but he just can't do it. He is not strong enough, because he is hurt. Now that's some heartbreaking shit if you ask me.
Kratos may seem tough on Atreus at times, but it's all because he cares for him and wishes to protect him. He wants Atreus to be strong so he can protect himself against danger. If Atreus is in danger, Kratos would stop at nothing to save him. He's a good dad
It almost makes me think people wished they had a father like Kratos who would teach them good lessons better than some of the ones that beat up their own children.
It is incredible how young the kid sounds. I know boys voice gets deeper with age, but wow, I just finished God of war and am now playing Ragnarok. I still can't believe how deep his voice has gotten.
"You've taught me so much, let me teach YOU something.", is one of the sweetest things Atreus said to Kratos.
I loved when Kratos says, “Wait…”
Atreus was like, “Oh, I’m sorry. Am I going to fast??”
Such a cute moment
i got the biggest smile on my face as i thought he was about to teach his father to read tunes 😭
Absolutely, he wants to repay his father in the only way he can - with knowledge
and he absolutely did teach him how to do it because in the second game he can read :))
How do you know? HOW DO YOU KNOW!
Kratos: "Do not panic"
Atreus: "Why would I panic?"
The trust Atreus has for Kraros puts a big smile on my face
I think it was more like sarcasm
He's trying to act tough, but panicked immediately
Which part?

The stark difference between waging war because it is all he knows, and going to war because it is what he must do to save his only kin is just fantastic writing, and I can’t wait to see what Ragnarök brings.
Atreus is adorable.
And smart
And a brat
@@dort9288 sometimes 🤣
@@dort9288 what child isn't a brat from time to time lol.
Yes, he is :(💕
Everyone acts like atreus has to go insane to start ragnarok, when he can absolutely stay sane and still have a reason to kill the Norse because they're corrupt in this setting.
..........BOY.
Hola
@@Gamersaures Oh yheyeheyehehyeheyehjsnejeidijeikkajmŵjuwujwjiijw
I always thought when Atreus asked to keep mimir’s head, then kratos replying
“ No. But you may feed it to the fish.” Was really cute.
Atreus is the best sidekick ever.
Father of the year award goes to kratos
I thought he was gonna say, STAY. AWAY. FROM. MY. BOY.
I did to but instead we got him saying "Stay. Away. From. My. Son!" WHICH IS SO DAME CUTE!!!
13:20 "I don't know"
this is probably the most desperate kratos has ever and will ever sounded
17:50 is the sweetest moment
Aaaah..
Aaaah..
Aaaah......
Aaaah..
Ahhhhhh.
20:46 Favorite part, "STAY! AWAY! FROM! MY! SON!"
don’t come near me or my son ever again
Atreus “It smells like rotten eggs is it still good?”
Kratos “possibly”
Atreus *drinks.... Dies
Kratos “Possibly not.
I do not think gods can die of such meager food poisoning issues, heck that won't even scratch their immune system
Whatever makes mortals weak ,doesn't neccesarily be a threat for a God
@@aniruddhnaik5277 you're probably right but way too ruin the joke man.
So they're basically drink hydrogen sulphide and lived?
@@orealz I did not like the joke 😐
@@aniruddhnaik5277 I liked the joke
29:58 is my favorite part. Father and son combo attack
6:55 i love how he just bats away mimir
When you find out Kratos has a legendary Bloodline....I mean Cronos > Zeus > Kratos > Atreus (Loki) > World Serpent
And don't forget to include Fenrir (lord of the wolves) and hel(ruler of helheim and goddess of death of norse mythology)
@@ashtonchane6126 and sleipnir.... but we don't want to talk about that one.
@@juanmarcano8700 “huh, who’s this Sleipnir?”
(One google search later)
*OH, I SEE*
And sleipinir, jourmangander, Fenrir, and hela
I mean it technically starts with Gaia
And you can put Uranus in since he is the father of cronos and son of Gaia but Gaia is the mother of cronos so 🤷🏽♂️
The way he threw his arm to the gorilla for Atreus was so majestic
33:25 boy finally promoted to son 😁
Sometimes it's just a man, his boi, three crazy uncles, and a pet giant snake.
3:34, I love how kratos is saying this more for himself than Atreaus. He thinks he's saying it for Atreaus but kratos is the one who needs to stay calm
atreus is really adorable and omg I always cry with the final 🤧
One of the most beautiful games ever
We all did cry at the final part, beautiful scene 🥲
I like how it shows more of their relationship in the game the father and son bonding because they barely showed Kratos relationship with his daughter so much
Idk if anyone notice but if u look closely to atreus scar on the left side of his face it's like the markings kratos has on his face
i thought Atreus has those scars from his illness(es)?
I disagree. In chains of Olympus Kratos had to sacrifice an afterlife with her just to save her afterlife. But it's hard to depict a relationship with a daughter that is currently dead
Yep those marks were actually made by Atreus himself because of how much Kratos neglected him,he wanted to be more like him in every way
@@vib2119 Damn
From what I heard, kratos' red markings were him putting them on himself in remembrance of his own brother due to his brother being kidnapped by a few of the gods such as Ares and Zeus due to a prophecy detailing Zues' fall and death from a tattoo'd warrior as kids, and they mistook kratos' brother as the marked warrior.
17:50 so adorable!! They’re bonding!!!
Also 20:46 when kratos is beating on Baldur you can tell how angry he is for Atreus getting hurt
This game being my first experience in the God of War franchise I was furious at Kratos for his treatment towards Atreus. But as the game went on, the more enemies they encountered and the obstacles they fought through made me realise he was preparing his son for all of that. A beautiful game one of the best I’ve ever played
Plus if you knew what kratos had to deal with before it makes the moments in this game 1000x better.
" *BOI* you're not ready..."
..To drop deer, But *BOI* keeps on requesting.
To Shoot bow, the whole shot goes through it's throat
*BOI* approaches slow but he can't make killing Blow
*BOI* 's Chokin, how. Kratos dad tries coachin Now
The moment's run out, Troll bursts on in Blaow!
Underrated
@@jvaughn1945 Thank you, I like writing parodies.

Stop lol 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣this should be top comment
This is the best eminem parody I've seen in centuries @!!!!!!!!!
That's how fathers should be to their sons.
I have two daughters and I'm about to be like this...
I have no father and i wish i had strong father figure like Kratos.
Its the setting of the game that makes it likeable character but believe me in our modern world this won't work, it will just widen the gap between you and your child.Take inspiration from it but do not follow it.
@@marufhassan634 You'd be surprised my friend. It was a special situation
No two children can be parented the same way
We can still be that way to our sons.
If the series starts having Atreus as the playable character, I want the title changed to Boi of War
Lol as funny as that would be I think God of Chaos is the a title that will print 💰.
@@himum3429 God of Mischief?
@@homuraakemi103 That works too but it's not a 💰printer. The OG fans already don't want Kratos to die so if Atreus takes over with a name as calm as that they'll probably riot. You need something harsh sounding like War or Death (Maybe Atreus son down the line). Even better with Chaos is that it links to the BLADES of Chaos and it plays into Loki's role as the harbinger of Chaotic Ragnarok in the mythos.
@@himum3429 I mean, Loki has LOTS of titles…
@@homuraakemi103 True that. I just can't think of one that would print as much cash as Chaos.
Atreus’s eyes glow when he called the world serpent. How did I miss that....
aww you missed the "Close your heart to it" - moment, where Atreus killes for the first time, and Kratos sees to him afterwards.
the scene where kratos gives atreus his new knife is probably my favorite
the way kratos speaks so softly and sincerely is not something youd expect from him, but nonetheless its extremely heart warming
This game is a testament to how much the team behind this (Cory Barlog and Christopher Judge especially) love their children. I hope those kids play this game one day and appreciate just how much they impacted their parents and inspired them to create something incredible.
Sony makes pretty good games, I'll tell you that.
I love that one scene when Kratos and his son have a drink together that's like a father and son bonding
Nothing can explain a father and a son relationship more specifically then dis game
17:44 the way kratos threw it and how they did a little joke after that was one of the best moments
On the lake
Kratos: "What is this??"
Atreus: "Looks like your grandboi!"
8:23 atreus wanted all the smoke...
Boi is partly the reason why Kratos is now a calm and reasonable person.
i just realized atreus’ eyes light up when he summons jörmungandr, that’s such an amazing detail considering he’s the serpent’s father
Whenever I was being bad my mother would say “I hope you have a child just like you someday” he definitely inherited his fathers stubbornness.
29:26 that moment he had to go back to his old ways....
11:35 kratos just throw away that mace like "weak!"
What the fuck is this??
Lmao
One thing I've noticed and I love is like every time kratos and atreus are falling Kratos grabs his son and makes sure atreus is protected and falls on top of him
I love the transition from Modi laughing at Atreus to “ oh shit” when the lightning isn’t working on Kratos.
When Kratos says "I have you" Do not panic. He's GOT you.
Atreus is probably the safest and most protected child in all of gaming universe lmaoo. Having Kratos as a dad is a pro-gamer move
Kratos was such an awesome Father, I love him so much. ❤
You can tell Kratos loves his son Fiercely, he’s just, to broken inside to really know how to express that.
30:05 the zeus special😂😂
You cut out the most emotional part in the first clip lol, if you think about it. Kratos only knows hatred, wrath and pain, but being a father is changing those things to him. He is trying to be a better person, he is trying to be a father. He tries to reach out for his son, to comfort him after his first kill, but he just can't do it. He is not strong enough, because he is hurt. Now that's some heartbreaking shit if you ask me.
28:35, 28:49 kratos says nothing just gestures downwards and Atreus understands. 30:00 ouch
6:57
mimir: *"you're cracked, you know that?"*
kratos: 😡 👋(slap mimir)
26:53 my dad whenever my mom asks to do anything beside cooking
Kratos: “boy”
Everyone: *OUR* boy!
Best tag team ever
6:14 - 7:04 was just Kratos and Atreus having fun imo😂
The voice actor for kratos should have won some sort of award or something the voice acting in this game is off the charts
17:37 I like how Kratos just snatches the bottle
16:41 was my favorite moment, the first drink with your dad, that's like the epidome of father-son moments.
Best duo ever
It is incredible how young the kid sounds. I know boys voice gets deeper with age, but wow, I just finished God of war and am now playing Ragnarok. I still can't believe how deep his voice has gotten.
5:22 I love how even though Atreus is being taken he still tells them to get off Kratos showing just how selfless he is. Ducking marvelous
